Huge respect to Craig McCracken, Genndy Tartakovsky, the voice talent, and the entire team! This is a great documentary. I'm not saying it's bad or anything i just feel that its one of those out of my control things. Besides i also read that in ppg 2016, the narrator stops being a part of the show after season 2.
I feel sad that kids today are seeing the new PPG on CN instead of the awesome original, the new PPG artstyle and animations seems really limited, that's putting it nicely.
Out of all the Creative decisions, the thing that earned my respect was how honest he was about the movie reviews. You usually don’t see people take criticism so causally well and slip it under the rug instead.
I was just like Craig with being obsessed with cartoons. Craig's story about his childhood really touched my heart. I literally cried hearing this story. I had a pretty similar childhood too. Although I had an older sister rather than an older brother. My mother passed away last year.

1:26 The fanatism for Underdog Craig had as a little kid would later inspire him to have two of his child characters referencing that cartoon when posing as superheroes. When PPG's Bubbles changes her heroic identity to Harmony Bunny, her catchphrase is a reference to Underdog's "hip hip hip and away I go!", only with "hop" instead of "hip". That, and Kid Cosmic has "Have no fear! Kid Cosmic is here!" as a catchphrase; an obvious reference to Underdog's "There's no need to fear...!".
@@NyQuilDonutProbably because the producers didn’t want older women voicing little girls, so they got younger actresses which is stupid. Those women can still sound like little girls. I mean their voices haven’t changed very much by now and obviously even then.

Whenever I feel like I’m never gonna make into the animation industry, and I’m gonna be an old hag until I get a show picked up. He’s such an inspiration for me, I wanna be just like him one day
If Linda Simensky could've accepted Craig's creation, then we'd be glad it would've been on Nick instead of CN, so they wouldn't torture them with a reboot
The problem with Nick is that they tend to seize all of the creative control over their shows, basically leaving the actual creators with pretty much nothing. This is why when Danny Antonucci pitched ED, EDD N EDDY to both Nick and CN, he ultimately went with CN, because they were willing to let he and his team do what they wanted, whereas Nick wanted to call all the shots.
despite its name and appearance this show was not a girly show :P far from it. for me when i was a kid it was a show i often watched alone cause i thought it was a girls show at first.
Wow this was an amazing documentary! As a fan of PPG, I have learned so much! I actually never knew anything about Craig, I had only ever really saw his name always listed in the credits. What a cool dude! I really appreciate everyone speaking out/behind the scenes. It just goes to show you how being a nerd/loser growing up, You can become a success!
The best. Love that the Professor is a male single parent, differentiated by being drawn with right angles. I may still have the only artifact signed by the entire cast. (A motorcycle aft deck) Hello Cathy! Why is 'Him' a villain? IMO, Him should be a close friend of the Professor; a personality opposite, the wild uncle that takes the girls on wild adventures that incorporate art, fashion and design. No need to fight monsters all the time. Solve that riddle and the professor gladly pays.
If I may add; if it cant be done again, please don't do it. I get it. Content recycled is never fresh. The context must be re-created as top priority along with the form factor. The originality; the simplicity; the cleverness, the dialog, the music and sound effects...if that original brand cannot be restored, well, there is thank god tons of great content and fan art just a torrent away.
32:41 They didn't listen. But who cares Craig is making a ongoing plot show like Gravity Falls. Disney should take it. I always go back to this to realize that even Craig was struggling to figure out animating, with how limited his stuff was when he didn’t have a big team working with him. He’s such an inspiration for me, I wanna be just like him one day
Today’s PPG’s anniversary I came here for nostalgic memories now we are stuck with 2016 reboot I wish Cartoon Network could be great again 😔
I love love love the old one then the trashy 2016 reboot 🥺🥺🥺🥺❤❤❤
I had the dolls, the backpack and the coloring books. Powerful Girls was a huge part of my childhood.
Craig McCracken is like a second father to The Powerpuff Girls and Lauren Faust is like a mother to The Powerpuff Girls as well.
when these came out i was 20 years old and i loved it never missed an episode
After all these years. we FINALLY see James L. Venable, Samurai Jack's composer
The Narrator and his comedic personality. I loved how he refused to say the original name for the girls. (You know the one i mean).
Baby Lamb Creations The Whoopa- *Gets cutoff due to Cable Guy*
Buttercup will always be my fave. I wish she had more episodes focused on her.
This was my child hood !!! Thank you for bringing this to life !!! 👏👏👏
If Linda Simensky could've accepted Craig's creation, then we'd be glad it would've been on Nick instead of CN, so they wouldn't torture them with a reboot
Ethan Weber but then it might've become like SpongeBob or Fairly OddParents, where it runs for WAAAAY longer than it should
Stereo Monovici But the reboot is good even though they did a twerking episode and got rid of one of my favorite characters.
Hey. I can have opinions too y'know.
I believe the show would run shorter on nick
The problem with Nick is that they tend to seize all of the creative control over their shows, basically leaving the actual creators with pretty much nothing. This is why when Danny Antonucci pitched ED, EDD N EDDY to both Nick and CN, he ultimately went with CN, because they were willing to let he and his team do what they wanted, whereas Nick wanted to call all the shots.
I'm a guy and I'm not ashamed to admit that I loved this show and the movie when I was a kid. I miss the late 90s/early 2000s so much.
despite its name and appearance this show was not a girly show :P far from it. for me when i was a kid it was a show i often watched alone cause i thought it was a girls show at first.
HE ALSO MADE FOSTERS HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS??? THAT WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS THIS GUYS A GENIOUS!
And Minority Report. Which ain't mentioned in the documentary.
OOOooh damn the nostalgia hit hard with this one...
Lmao Tom Kenny is hilarious.
32:41 They didn't listen. But who cares Craig is making a ongoing plot show like Gravity Falls. Disney should take it. Cartoon Network has Samurai Jack (a continuation), Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Regular Show and tons more. shows already and doesn't need more PPG. The videos have tons of dislikes. I can just watch the cringe clips online I have no reason to give them ratings.
The original Powerpuff Girls was the best childhood show on Cartoon Network with Cathy Cavadini Voice of Blossom, Tara Strong Voice of Bubbles and E.G. Daily Voice of Buttercup 💖💙💚😍🥰
Am I the only one fawning over Craig's romance with Lauren Faust? I'm using her full name because... well, I have the same given name.
Power couple for sure! Their daughter must have had such a fun childhood.
I'm from Pennsylvania, too, and I live in Washington, a town that's near Charleroi. Kinda cool that Craig McCracken grew up near my town.
Catherine Cavadini, Tara Strong, and Elizabeth Daily are the true Powerpuff Girls.
Man seeing Genndy here was awesome! His direction with Samurai Jack and this show is amazing. This video was completely awesome and I just watches the rest tonight, loved that ending with all of them saying that PPG's phrase hahah!
I know but remember, he didn't create this show, Craig McCracken did
Yeah and it was funny when Craig said, "Tom you're out of a job"
***** Sorry, it didn't seem like you knew that. Also just now, I didn't reply to the same comment as 6 weeks ago.
***** OHHHHH never mind, I get what you're saying now. Yes I did reply to your comment, but it was in response to the part where you liked how they all said the outro at the very end. I'm sorry, for a second I thought they were two separate comments lol
