Lyrics
Many years since I was here
On the street I was passin' my time away
To the left and to the right
Buildings towering to the sky, it's outta sight
In the dead of night
here I am, and in this city
(Oooh, ooh-ooh-ooh) with a fistful of dollars, and baby, you'd better believe
I'm back, back in the New York groove
I'm back, back in the New York groove
I'm back, back in the New York groove
Back, in the New York groove
In the New York groove
In the back of my Cadillac
A wicked lady sittin' by my side sayin', "Where are we?"
Stopped at Third and Forty-three, exit to the night
It's gonna be ecstasy, this place was meant for me
I feel so good tonight
(Oooh, ooh-ooh-ooh) who cares about tomorrow, so baby, you'd better believe!
I'm back, back in the New York groove (New York groove)
I'm back, back in the New York groove (New York groove)
I'm back, back in the New York groove (New York groove)
Back, in the New York groove, in the New York groove
I'm back, back in the New York groove
I'm back, back in the New York groove
I'm back, back in the New York groove (New York groove)
I'm back, back in the New York groove (New York groove)
I'm back, back in the New York groove (New York groove)
I'm back, back in the New York groove (New York groove)
I'm back, back in the New York groove (New York groove)
I'm back, back in the New York groove (New York groove)
I'm back, back in the New York groove (New York groove)
I'm back, back in the New York groove (New York groove)
I'm back...
Recorded on September 4, 1996 at the Brooklyn Bridge in Brooklyn, this became one of the highlights of the reunion tour.
Hi Suzi and Travis, This reaction request is kiss performing “New York Groove” live on the Brooklyn Bridge on September 4, 1996 and it’s from Ace Frahley’s solo album in 1978. Each member of Kiss (Gene, Paul, Ace and Peter) released their own solo albums in 1978 as a way to express their individual talents during a time of turmoil for the band. Thanks for your fun reactions, Sean
Not only did they all make a solo album, but they were all released on the same day! No band has ever done that before or since. Each album was certified platinum.😎
Same day but different times of the day
No. Only Ace's was. Look it up. Gene just likes to brag up....
@@conorbutler4808 ???? What? Same day… all released on the same day. All platinum.
Yes…100% accurate. All solo albums released on the same day in September 1978, all certified platinum.
Paul's was the best
Ace Frehley contains the cover hit single "New York Groove", which was originally written by Russ Ballard and recorded by Hello in 1975. The song would prove to be a major hit for Frehley and boosted sales for its parent album. The album would also prove to be the most successful of the four Kiss solo albums.
Ace's solo album was always my favorite 🎸 even though I had all of them ( I gave them to my son, my little kissfreak 🤪🤘✌️
The stage was a tempory structure that Kiss Had Built for this preformance. If you research the Kiss Solo Alblums you'll see the artwork was similar and had drawings of all 4 of their faces in full makeup tieing the records together and the only hit off all 4 records was this song from Ace's record "Back in the New York Groove" and I always found it funny because his New York accent was strong when he sang.
One of the biggest guitar 🎸 playing music great song great concert
Accept no imitations! I love seeing the great Ace Frehley playing his wicked Les Paul! Sure, he wasn't the best singer, but you can't deny his guitar chops! Thanks for this reaction! I'm a KISS fan from '75!
This is actually a cover song. It was written by Russ Ballard and recorded in 1975 by the English band Hello.
Just found that out!
Always love the reactions to my boys KISS!! Keep it up!!🙂
Great reaction Travis and Suzi! I must say that giving people the ability to share live performances for your reaction (for a cost but well worth it in my opinion) is a great thing!
Fulton Ferry Landing is the location of this performance.
Rock And Roll All Night was broadcast to end the 1996 MTV VMA's .
Setlist:
Rock And Roll All Night
New York Groove
Calling Dr. Love
Deuce
Love Gun
The location is near the base of the
Brooklyn Bridge, on the Brooklyn side, not the Manhattan Island side.
Drummer Peter Criss is a Brooklyn native....
Hey guys idk if it was commented before but the venue was at Fulton Ferry Landing next to the Brooklyn Bridge. I don’t know if it’s a venue but they could’ve just built a small stage and set it up for the night. I’ve seen this happen a few times.
Please react to Shock Me live! But not the Tommy Thayer version ya did last time we want the OG Ace Frehley version 🙏🤘
You guys should get into some Frehley's Comet. Ace has some good solo stuff. My favorite is Into the Night.
If I remember correctly this was during the American music awards or the grammys I can't remember which. This is when they announced the reunion tour up on stage with Tupac.
September 4, 1996, at the MTV Video Music Awards, already long into their reunion tour, that started on July 2, 1996.
They all created a Solo Album, but still all under the banner of KISS..............Aces was by far the best of the bunch.
Awesome song from an awesome era of Ace Frehley (the guy singing, original lead guitarist of KISS).....
THE WARNING these days is writing and performing hard rock at this and a higher level even, and are influenced by KISS but young and contemporary but still hitting hard like these guys originally did!
New York groove gran canción
Awesome cool song, live on TV 🤘😎👍🎸🎸
Yeah, all four KISSers released solo albums simultaneously in 1978 or thereabouts. NYG was the hit from Ace's.
LOVE ACE.. dude rocks
I see kids, I press like!!
Ace Frehley departed KISS in 1981 but this song had a tremendous impact on, of all people, the New York Yankees. They made it a theme song in the stadium after KISS played there in 1996.
Yeah Baby - the original Space-Ace !
Was also a tune in New York Ink on Dmax about tattoo. Didn't know it was from 1978 until now.
The track is a cover by Ace Frehley for his solo album in 1978. The song is originally written by English musician Russ Ballard, and the English band Hello did their cover and released their version of it in 1975.
OUT OF THE FOUR SOLO ACE IS MY FAVORITE
So epic that they did this from Aces solo album. What a different world we lived in that night. Kiss was back together, makeup and all. Wtf happened? As a guitarist Ace is a huge influence well, just about everyone my age. Wts. You guys should really check out Paul's solo album. Some of the best vocals ever from him. God bless.
There is NO 'bridge' at our Brooklyn!
Brooklyn Bridge, NYC's oldest, 1883.A mint chewing gum brand in Italy-"la gomma del ponte-bridge('s) gum". Same year catastrophic Krakatau/Krakatoa eruption
Check out the version of the song from 1975 by Glam Rock Band " Hello "
The original version
@@robertphelps1574 according to Wikipedia the original was recorded by the writer in Russ Ballard which you can find on You Tube but I prefer the version by " Hello "
@@billfairbank5258 there is a radio interview where Russ Ballard says he wrote the song for Hello in the studio
Not sure if you know this but Kiss is from Queens. Which is next door to Brooklyn. My mother's car had power windows in the 60's so you gotta go real far back before cars didn't have them. I know because she was driving in the summer one time with me in the passenger seat with my head out the window. She told me to pull my head in because she was closing the window but I didn't hear her. The next thing I know the window was strangling me. LOL. I think I kicked her with my foot before she realized and opened it again. But with my mom, I am not entirely sure that wasn't on purpose.
Well guys there was this other band called the Beatles that their members all had somewhat good success as solo artists. Lol.
NOICE one Coily! AWK! \m/
Even French group Rockets had silver makeup between end of 70s and starting 80s.
That's the Bo Diddly beat.
I like Ace's solo album better then the other guys and i think its better the some kiss albums hey look just pointing this out its my personal opinion
That old Russ Ballard song. Nice !
You should check out Paul’s solo album. I think it’s the best one of the solo albums.
You could hear KISS even if your windows were rolled up.
❤️❤️❤️
This isn't actually a Kiss song, it's an Ace Frehley solo song. These guys all put out solo albums on the same day, 4 of them
Someone didn't watch this whole video lol.
@@lyricalrocker3410 nope.
Ace Frehley recorded the track for his solo album in 1978 but it's actually a cover. New York Groove was written by English musician Russ Ballard, and the British band Hello recorded their version and released it in 1975.
@@billw715 Yeah that's what I said
@@neillenet291 No, that's not what you said. You said, "This isn't actually a Kiss song, it's an Ace Frehley solo song." It's not Ace Frehley's song either, mate. Frehley did a cover. It's Russ Ballard's song. He wrote it and the band Hello released their version in 1975. Frehley covered the song in 1978.
At the urging of Eddie Kramer, who produced Frehley's solo album, Kramer pushed Frehley to do a cover of New York Groove. Frehley resisted and then finally decided to record it.
Good thing for him because it became his biggest hit off his solo album, and the biggest single out of all four of the solo works by the rest of the Kiss members.
Normally I don't post negative reviews because there's enough bad going on but I hope it will be received as constructive criticism. NYG @ BB is one of my favorite videos. Every second was fantastic IMO. I was really looking forward to this 'reaction' video but you spent more time talking about the location and windows that have nothing to do with the substance of this. You never once mouthed 'Ace Frehley'. My expectations were high and was disappointed big time in your effort.
Is that the real Ace?
all the solo albums were released at the same time. it was a thing.
Both booted out of Kiss for doin'/takin' drugs, hearsay.
They built a stage just for kiss
Ace frehley!!!! AKC
The show wasn’t on the bridge it was under it
Reaction echoed😆
😁
The solo albums were made because they owed Casablanca Records four more albums and didn't have the time to make that many as a band, much less the songs.
Please react to Radics Peti - Perfect Lie!
Kiss at it's best...All 4 original members in sync doing what they no...Not this crap line up they have had for 20 years...
A band splitting up, all members going on to single careers? Never heard it happen, ooooohhhhh hang on, the beatles.
There is no stage they were on a barge or I believe a makeshift stage
Out of 4 albums, they were all trash except for one AWESOME song. Thank God for space man
This is one of the only good live performances of this song I’ve heard! Sadly Ace isn’t the rock god he used to be and even on that tour his skills were deteriorating as the farewell tour went on. 😩 Wish they would’ve done ‘Rip It Out’ off his solo record instead but Peter probably couldn’t play that song on drums to save his life. 🤷♂️😅
Good song by Ace, got his own band now 👌😎🤘
Why do you always choose the WORST version of every KISS song that you react to?
I can understand that happening a FEW times.
But out of all of the KISS UA-cam videos out there... every single time, you choose the worst version.
They haven't even seen 70's KISS at all, they have no idea of what they're missing!!!
@@kissjjb I wasn't sure if they had or not. I only infrequently watch their reactions.
Having been a diehard KISS fan for 45+ years, I love every "incarnation"...& the music from each era. (With Carnival Of Souls & Monster being the only studio albums I've never owned.)
But if these 2 kids have NEVER reacted to an actual live version from the 1970s, then they haven't reacted to a "proper" live KISS experience.
Yes, the reunion tour might have been the original members, but IMO it was far from the same "hunger" & energy that they had before 1978-79.
That's simply my unasked for opinion.😁😁
THEY SHIPPED A MILLION COPIES OF EACH....ON THE SAME DAY. ACEs SOLD THE MOST BUT WHAT DIDN'T WIND UP IN BARGAIN BINS WERE SHIPPED BACK TO THE COMPANY FOR DESTRUCTION. THOUGH THEY love TO LIE ABOUT THEM ALL going PLATINUM ON SHIPPING DAY. OH THE KISS MYTH. IT'S ACTUALLY SAD ....AND FULL OF LIES.
