Didn't mind at all watching this again on a rainy Sunday afternoon here in Germany! What a beautiful trail ride. Hope you get to go again in the spring.
THANKS for taking us along on another Trail Ride. The Scenery was Lovely and your Narration, as always, was Soothing (Voice Rhythm/Inflection) and Informative. It's been a GREAT spending some of 2024 with The Clever Cowgirl. Happy Holidays!
THANK YOU! What a Christmas gift. I just closed my eyes and imagined I was along for the ride with my heart horse. Hawk was far more braver than me and would not have been phased by the tunnels.
I appreciate you talking about how important it was that your dogs along had great recall and training, and being big enough to say that huckleberry is not well-trained enough for such things. Statistically, the most dangerous things a hiker can encounter are ticks, dogs, and cows, and communicating what's required for trail safety with a dog is so important!
I enjoyed seeing mules being hi-lighted in today’s video. Mules have been used by both buckeroos and trappers for a long time and deserve praise. Your friend’s canines were a pleasure to watch work. Thank you for bringing us along with you and your friends.
Thanks so much for bringing us along on your adventure - just before Christmas. What a great way to spend a lazy Sunday morning, watching your video. From Sarasota, FL
I love this Mule…I hope they keep him and he don’t end up in an Auction…❤❤❤ I found the colour on the original Video ok, but I love this clip anyway..imagine the trail you are on is actually an pretty old railway, how much work and time it took them to dig and blast their way through these Mountains..😮
How can you not think youre in Middle Earth??? What an absolute enchanting trail. The doggos were exceptional and i enjoyed watching them have fun and take care of their pack. Charles is a gentleman. Lovely video, CC. Id LOVE to see Scarlet attempt this. N
JUST LOOKING AT THE CLEVER COWGIRL ON HER MULE AND RIDING THROUGH THE BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAINS OF MONTANA IS LIKE A COVER OF A HALLMARK GREETING CARD!! JUST WONDERFUL TO SEE!!
Just beautiful! What a gorgeous trail. Haven't gotten to the bridge yet - but admire your caution. Thank you for sharing this - Couldn't believe the post is from now - originally thought it must be a replay from the summer/fall. . .Thanks again for posting.
It’s lovely to see this one again! I liked the first one just fine but I think it’s wonderful you are trying to improve the quality of your videos as you go. I know it’s not a simple thing. Most people might not realize that colour correction/balancing is highly technical and not easy.
Nice ride! For tack repair on the fly, keep a 100 foot length of 550 cord(parachute cord) in your truck or horn bag etc. You can either throw in a leather punch tool or use the one on most jack knives and leatherman type tools to rig up lacing to fix anything from a torn stirrup leather to reins that got stepped on and snapped to latigo issues etc. I keep some in my horn bag for being able to quick fix issues when I am out. It's like the duct tape and bailing wire of tack repair, you can rig up a temp fix for just about anything tack related with it. It is true that horses see well in low light but it takes their eyes 30 - 45 minutes to adjust to light changes so when you ride through tunnels like that without a headlamp the horse is riding blind and trusting you that going by feel is OK. Mules have a greater sense of self protection than horses do, so for a mule to go through that blind like that is a really good mule.
@@fleetskipper1810 No, horses eyes adjust at about the same rate it takes the sun to go down and for it to go from sunset to full dark which is generally 30 - 45 minutes, many prey species are that way. Predators eyes adjust more quickly to light changes. This is why deer are blinded by oncoming headlights but you aren't. Check out the book "Horse Brain, Human Brain: The Neuroscience of Horsemanship" by PhD Janet Jones. She covers this topic in that book as well as things like equine visual acuity and how it and the other senses of equines differ from humans and other animals. She has quite a bit in there about things like what a horse sees vs what a human sees when they look at the same view.
Watching this video was as much fun as the first time, and the weird coloring gave some of the scenes a completely different feeling 😃. Thank you for another happy live, CC! Happy holidays and all the best for you and your loved ones! 😊🎄🎉❤
At 70 years old, I can no longer ride and I miss it still. I can not believe that living in Montana you did not have gloves or warmer boots though. Didn't seem to be any first aid kit or saddle bags for things needed in any emergency for you , horses or dogs. My hiking days kick in for what is needed especially in the smaller Mts I was used to. Maybe Montana makes one tougher? The best pair of winter riding boots I ever owned were thinsulate with a back seam velcro closure, In winter I could wear them with only thin cotton socks when doing barn chores. Thinsulate gloves are great, hand warmer snap packs you can put in gloves or boots are a bonus. I always carried a pair of mittens to go over my gloves on very cold winter trail rides in Ontario, Canada. I'm not scolding, just wanting you safer ;)) I enjoyed this video and yes it was beautiful.
I enjoy those trekking videos, such lovely wild looking scenery. I must go back and watch the one with ziggy, that was great. And the one with the borrowed Arabian was lovely too… ps, I can relate to your fear of heights..🤦♀️ me to
I remember my friend and I riding our ponies out on a winters day, we covered a lot of ground on them when we were kids. We got stuck in a blizzard once and the snow was so deep we got off and hung onto their tails and let them bring us home. Thank goodness we were almost home!
May I suggest having a headlamp for the tunnels and the odd possibility you get stranded overnite on that (or any) mountain. The lights would announce your presence to oncoming traffic plus seeing things unexpected.
I was thinking that a taillight might be wise after the mention of the bicycle, would hate for the trailing horse to be rear ended. Surely the bicycle was equipped with a headlamp, at least if the rider was experienced. Any number of things could be lying across the road in those long, dark tunnels that could send a pedal pusher flying!
I absolutely Love Mules!! ~ Charles is a great example of how good, patient ground-work is a Key Foundation!! I wish I could find a mule over 13;2hh, here in the UK!! Watching you from my hospital bed, but I Promise I'll be back at home by Christmas!! MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR CC & EVERYONE HERE!! Andrea and Critters. ....XxX....
Beautiful scenery and I am with you on not going across that 2nd suspension bridge. I developed a fear of heights when I was on my honeymoon at Quechee gorge in Vermont. I was coming into viral meningitis and getting pretty sick when we were out at the gorge and my brain just couldn't handle it. Since then, fear of heights. This was fun going along with you from my nice warm living room 😉😉
Even though i thought i had seen this before I enjoyed a 2nd time relaxing on a snow filled 🥰 sunny Sunday afternoon. ❤ How are the dogs trained to run back and forth like that? Fascinating 🐕🐕. Charles was funny grabbing a snack but a steady ride. Tyfs 👍🩷🇨🇦
That's a wonderful trail. I'm curious about its history, especially the tunnels & trestle. Were they for mining, logging? Did they connect point A to point B? Who built it? It looks like a great time. I loved it when one of your companions said "You're killing it", as you were mounting Charles. That's priceless. I would like to say say Thank You, for all your hard work. Peace ✌️
You are not only clever, but the perfect riding companion that I'd enjoy. Too bad you couldn't enjoy it more but next time....here's my suggestion: Yep, lesson learned - take gloves (check), take headlamp (check), leave dogs at home (check), take all tack (check), don't even bother with the bridge (check), get off and take a break for warming up with hot thermos of coffee or cocoa (check). :)) ps: the dogs were well trained but such a distraction! not my cup of tea while on a strange horse...I feel ya.
Beautiful, and only about 25% as beautiful as in real life! Montana is SO lovely, my son went to college there and has never moved back to Minnesota in 15 years.
Sounds crazy, but I've had mules and they may not be as purty or swift as a horse but they are far more sure-footed, sensible and safer than your average horse. Get the right mule they are a better ride as well. I like gaited horses anyway and a good gaited mule can't be beat. People have asked me, what do you recommend as a good riding horse and I always start by telling them, get a good mule, you won't regret it.
One more reason to stay in Montana :
All your horsefriends and going on trials together.
Love when you take us out on your trails.
Just as enjoyable 2nd time around !
What a beautiful ride serious trainer goals here. Charles is such a sweetie
Beautiful. Loved seeing the dogs and also the beauty of the trail.

Same, its raining and trying to snow in the UK.

That was a beautiful ride❤. I don't remember having any complaints about the color on the original one.
I thought the first version was fine, also.
@@lostribe5130 maybe it is bc I saw it in real life and know it was way more breathtaking than the video is showing!
I didn't see any difference between the first one and this one cc to tell you the truth
@@TheCleverCowgirl No complaints here, but didn’t you post this video a few months ago?

This was fun to watch on the big screen TV.
Thanks for the ride,Charles!🥰
And in that golden hour too🤩

My grandfather (born in 1905) always said mules were the best mounts of all. Said they were usually a smooth, easy ride.
Belle balade avec les animaux qu'on aime, le paysage est beau ❤❤❤
Thank you for bringing us on a beautiful ride. I wouldn't want to ride across that bridge either. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I hope so…
I'm pretty sure CCG would up and buy Charles immediately if the chance arose! 👍
