What we packed to drive the Pan-American Highway

- We’ve officially begun our journey down the Pan American Highway beginning in the USA and finishing in Argentina. Before we show you the first vlog episode of adventures, we’re taking you inside the camper and showing you all the nitty gritty planning that goes into packing our truck for an indefinite period of time.
We’re big believers that a good adventure can be had with the most minimal of gear, but over the years we’ve saved, splurged, and learned what gear we most enjoy having on the road while overlanding. This is the gear that makes life easier and more comfortable but it’s certainly not all necessary. We hope this video helps you plan your own road trip adventures!

For recovery, a snatch block helps your winch a lot, a pair of locking pliers (vise grips) can pinch off a brake line so you can drive into town with three brakes, and, instead of the static tow rope, a kinetic rope. Make sure to test the winch if it hasn’t been ran in a while and if it’s steel rope, I’d recommend swapping to synthetic so you can splice it if it breaks. Also remember your max trax can be used for leveling the camper and as a jack plate if you are on soft ground. Quick Clot bandages and a tourniquet a piece that are kept on your person are good for the most extreme cases. Good Luck y’all! Can’t wait to see the trip!
It really feels like you thought of everything. Of course as soon as you leave you'll think of several things you need. But this adventure is going to be crazy and we're excited to follow along. Be safe ya'll!
Thanks so much, y'all! We're still REALLY hoping our paths cross with yours one day soon!! Hope you're still loving Asia. :)
@@chrisandsara same. Timing is just never there. We'll be back in the Seattle area for a long while come May. Might be in the states for the better part of the year unless we get FareDrop. Fingers crossed on that though. We're pretty much a long shot and we have to work a little harder for voting since we're the smallest channel lol
I actually have one of those roadside signs. It came with the Westy when I bought it. I have to be honest for months. I never even knew what it was when I pulled it out and figured out how to put it together. I thought it was very cool and as you know holding a 30 or 40 year old vehicle, I have used it several times on the roadside, waiting for AAA.
Long time fan. Love the content and editing style. Stay safe and can't wait to follow along!
Thank you!!! We'll be safe we promise :)
Loved the video! Wish ya'll a fabulous trip...look fwd to watching!
Thank you!
After watching other UA-camrs Trent & Allie back in 2019/20 when they did this trip through Mexico, Central America & South America I hope you have enough coconut coir as they warned others to make sure they have it after having considerable difficulty with finding it. If you find yourself running low then find it somewhere I'd suggest stocking up as much as possible to prevent running out completely. I look forward to seeing more of these videos through your travels and pray for safety as you go❤🙏
Snow and Curt are another couple who spent a couple years in South America (now in Europe). They would go to wood working places and get saw dust.
Thank you! Yes we’ve stocked up but there are also some alternatives we can use on the road!
Your next adventure....soo cool!😊
Guys - Just found you. you're great and your info is relevant!
😊 Thanks! Glad you’re here!
Consider getting a kinetic rope. Also the InReach may not have SMS capabilities in Mexico currently.
You guys have thought of everything! I would have definitely forgotten something then have to buy it at a much higher price on the road. 😂 Safe travels guys!
Loved the video. Have a fun and safe journey. May the adventures and memories begin.
Thanks so much! Can’t wait to share them with y’all!
😊
👋👋👋
Do you pack regular tools and maybe spare parts like oil and air filters!? I figure stuff like that might be hard to find in other countries!
Yes! We mentioned that in our maintenance section!
Where will you load the truck on the boat before you get to the Darien Gap? Will this be a round trip or one way?
The Trelino discount code does not work. Trelino is trying to contact Chris & Sara to update.
We’re waiting for their reply! As soon as we get it we’re updating our description. Sorry for the hassle on this!
Wait is it just me or did you do some kind of Photoshop trick with the towels? It went from a small dot to a microfiber towel.
Ugh! It looks like the file got corrupted😅🫣
Weren't you talking to a shipping agent like six months ago?
Yes we were! We explained it in this video ua-cam.com/video/rqWGTBN_Nrc/v-deo.htmlsi=m02vjxENBkp6QQbA
power banks / batteries?
That’s in our truck tour!
@@chrisandsara lols, probably in the one bit when I ducked away 🤣
Maxtrax?
Yep! We have one!
