- For the last five weeks we've been exploring Mexico's Baja Peninsula as the first leg of our open ended journey overlanding (a.k.a. driving our camper) from the USA to Argentina. Today we're saying adios to Baja and hopping on an overnight ferry from La Paz to Mazatlán. Oh, and we're taking our dog with us. From paperwork to expenses and dog policies and what the boat is like, we're taking you along for the entire journey. Let's go!

Hey y'all! We're Chris + Sara (or as you know us, Let’s Be Us), a husband and wife digital nomad travel duo currently working and traveling full time with our pup, Kramer. We've always dreamed of traveling full time, and in May of 2018 we took the leap and made it happen! Today we're balancing work and fun everywhere between the Pacific and Atlantic. From hiking and cycling to tacos and coffee, we're trying to see and experience as much of this world as we can! While our home is currently on wheels in our DIY Sprinter van, our travels take us all around the world.
I’ve done this same trip on Baja ferries 2 years ago. They are pet friendly somewhat. You have two option with a pet. 1. Book a pet friendly cabin ( but your pet can’t leave the cabin, so puppy pads are needed). 2. Put your pet in the pet room in a crate. You will be allowed limited opportunities to visit your pet. They do not allow anyone to sleep in their vehicle. I snuck my dog on deck to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and no one said anything.
A trip you won’t soon forget!!
That TMC office is quite close to my house. Pity I didn't bump into you to say Hi. You are already learning a great lesson with regards to Latino culture (very broad strokes, but I think it generally applies): Patience.... A given time is rarely the actual time and if you stress over it, you'll have a bad time. If you go with the flow, you'll be more than fine :-) Have fun! (BTW, Pepe is right. Chiapas is awesome).
I can't wait for you guys to cover Argentina and Chile! Patagonia?! How exciting!!
So cool that you guys did this! This looks so relaxing but stressful all at the same time! 😂 Glad you guys were able to make it though!
I love how you roll with everything that happens. A good lesson.
We saw different spots in the Redwoods last fall that gave us the same feelings but your reactions were perfect-they are sooo awesome and unbelievable!
OMGoodness those tight quarters maneuvering around and under those trucks, not sure I could handle that.
Great Video! Mexico can be very confusing and it feels like you’re not getting it right at times like that!! But its beautiful!
I love the way you guys are editing video and music you guys are using on your video is always spot on !
I prefer the eight hour crossing to Topolobampo as the coast is a pleasant drive and 18 hours on a ferry, even in our van is too much.
Cheers from Cali Colombia. (Colombia is astonishingly pet friendly, much quieter than Mexico and garbage free).
Not a Disney Cruise?? *grin* Com'on... it was something you will never forget. Travel Safe, Guys. See ya in the next one.
🤣🤣🤣 wouldn’t trade it for anything :)
You're very professionals
Saludos wey
Yikes i think we will stick to just driving down the mainland and you get to stop in the mountain hot springs on route.
Nice that you put your dog first! (the other boat is supposed to be alot nicer lol 😆)
Awesome video
Perfect timing… I just found you last week and I’m planning my “Baja ferries/TMC” with dog soon. Thanks
But you didn’t mention if Kramer needed a dog kennel, because I’ve heard that…
And was the price based on the weight of your truck camper?
I’m laughing because after years living in Mexico, I totally relate to the “what the heck is going on?”.
Love the comment, “It’s only slightly nerve wracking”
oh good!! I hope this video is helpful then!
I also was wondering about your question if you were required to have a dog crate 🤷🏼♀️ as well if Kramer did his business on the deck. My girl has a had a rough go of it driving in Mexico and not finding “squat spot” = grass. Dirt and rocks in most areas. Can’t imagine her doing it on the deck of a boat. At least the boy dogs can lift their leg.
How ever did you remember how to get back to your truck? I'd have to leave bread crumbs or tie a string!
The boat to Mexico
KFC! A beloved establishment 😂
What breed of dog do you have? Thanks
That truck moving the trailers around, an its driver, here they are usually called a "yard dog" but apparently they have a bunch of names. Do you really not know a lick of Spanish? It would never crossed my mind to do a trip like that without some Spanish.
We’re not fluent at all but are currently taking classes while on the road. Each day we’re here it’s getting a little bit better!
@@chrisandsara Ah, my Spanish is a disaster still so I cant say much. But you telling that security lady no an trying to tell that man that one of you was from Kentucky more than once, that came across as no Spanish at all. Two of the first things most classes teach is how to say you dont speak Spanish in Spanish and how to tell people where your from. Usually right after they teach how to order a beer, the words for married vs unmarried woman, an how to ask how much something costs. Think about that one for a minute.
You guys, I think it would be wise to learn some Spanish…you are most definitely going to be taken advantage of…
Already in school learning! :)
