You need to take those green beans off the heat and immediately submerge them in ice cold water to stop the cooking process. This will (1) stop them from overcooking once you cook them more in the oven (2) They will retain a nice green color once you add all the ingredients together and put them in the oven.
I would like to just make the mushroom soup and keep for later. I wonder if it will freeze well. Google says this about heavy cream, "“Heavy cream might seem to fail the thaw test, as it will tend to separate when you thaw it after it's been frozen. But it's not a fail. You can easily smooth out the texture by shaking or whisking it.” Once you've given the cream a good shake to reconstitute it, plan to use it within a day or so." Alternatively, I might try canning it in 8 ounce jars and hot bathing it. It probably seems like a lot of trouble but I resent Campbell's for a variety of reasons.
Yes that will work. Just slowly warm it up.You may also want to add a touch of milk to it and stir frequently. Another option would be to put it all together- green beans and all - put it covered in the fridge. Take it out the next day and pop it directly into the oven.
Looks amazing. I might have to try something like this. I'm thinking that I might want to try this just as a soup itself, but I likely will need to make it vegetarian since I would likely also be making this for a vegetarian, so veggie broth rather than chicken.
Can I make this ahead of time except the onions of course and take to my daughters and bake it there then top with the onions would it sit okay or make the green beans mushy? Looks so delicious

Can i make the soup mixture the day before and keep in the fridge? Will it still have the thick consistency?
