    It’s a real struggle being an INFJ when it comes to careers. I just turned 37 and all my adult life I’ve struggled with what I wanted to do. There was so many options and things I wanted to do and I changed my major in college several times. In the end I never finished college or had a career and have been feeling lost on what I actually want to or can do with my life😔

      Actually, just do something that even slightly inspires you and that you can earn decent money doing. By doing that job in a way that inspires you (you can fake it until you make it) then you can better realize your future by analyzing what you like and do not like. If you go at a job as if it were your passion then you can learn much. Even a fast food worker can take pride in making customers happy or remembering regular customers' names. Sometimes the job can seem so different from you, but you find a way to own it.

    • @bethiciaprasek9415

      @No Division Gang Thanks. I am in a happy career space. Another point is that you can pivot careers or do a side hustle in order to get more pleasure from your career. Just like one person should not have to supply all your relationship/life needs (if you are married, you can still have friends), perhaps one straight line career aspiration shouldn't have to provide everything in your career/vocation wheelhouse for your entire life.

    I've tried the graphic designer option, but I hated it because Graphic Design is under the general umbrella of "Advertising," and I can't stand manipulating people to buy a product. I felt like the entire industry of design was going against my inner morals, and promoting something I didn't believe in. So I gave up.

      I understand however I feel compelled to say that I think your view of it might be “wrong”. Just something worth having a think about is all. When you say “manipulating people to buy stuff” and this going against your morals well Id have to say that it isnt exactly manipulation, but a beautiful complex and deep study of human psychology and behaviour that is then used to show people what they are telling us (from studying them) what they want and how they want it and delivering. I dont know what you might think of this but thought maybe a different perspective of it might be interesting to you or whoever reads this. 😊 did you find your ideal career field? Id love to know. Im obsesses with knowledge and self discovery and an always searching for my “perfect” career and gets me very anxious and stressed having been years and still nothing being “right”, but cant and wont stop until i find my purpose. Wishing you the best on your search and let me know if you found what you were looking for 😉

    • @SufianBabri
      @SufianBabri 11 місяців тому

      I think we hate monotonous things because these tasks can be optimized and also they don't offer us anything which we crave (such as impacting the lives of others and to quench our thirst of learning things, etc).
      I just automate these things (I'm a software developer) and move ahead. Before, I was confused how people actually justify their mundane work (to themselves)? The answer I now know is they are not INFJs so thinking about it creatively isn't as natural to them as it is for me, and unlike me, they can do brain-dead things.

I would be a good therapist, outreach specialist, life coach, etc. but realized early on that these roles done on a full time basis would sap much of my life energy and could really disappoint if I didn't do a perfect job...or no matter how great a job I did, If I were helping someone who didn't yet want to grow.

      I was a math/science tutor for a while and it was extremely fulfilling (though not well-paying, lol).
      Tutoring is like a merging of counseling with a educational bent.
      You’re not just focusing on helping them learn material they struggle with, but helping them through the struggles of learning. I think the greatest tutor is the one that helps the student identify what is causing them to struggle with teaching themselves and getting them through it. You know you’re a good tutor, when they the student no longer needs you and can do things on their own.
      Sometimes this is just teaching them how to search up information or question what they know. Other times, it’s working through painful memories as a kid, and showing them that they ARE a good student. They ARE good at math. And that they have the capabilities and potential to accomplish whatever they put their mind too.
      Again, not exactly a lucrative career option. Had to move onto something (much less fitting for us) that could pay the bills better.
      Edit: Currently going to school for a new career and have an internship that seems to blend counseling, education, environmental science, graphic design, writing, community outreach, and art altogether. Super excited to see where it goes!

      @@PsychologyRefresh I used to work in the Early Education field, helping families with young children who due to their circumstances were statistically likely not to to succeed in school or get out of the cycle of poverty their parents were in. While in some occasions I was able to help in some ways, most of these families did not even have the basic needs met, and their problems were so huge and numerous that they weren't able to do much with the education I provided them. Sometimes it felt like our hands were truly tied and all we could do was go home and hope for the best. When I saw good results from my work, it was the best. But when I couldn't help, seeing them so hopeless and broken, and having to tell them that I, the person who was here to help, that they were supposed to be able to turn to, the person with the resources, I had no answers for those problems. It broke my heart and brought me so much pain, even though I knew I had done all I could

It can be very draining caring for others, despite myself being a caring, empathetic person. And I don’t like working on holidays. I've also been in poetry contests and applied for blogger positions. The only reason i'm not in HR is because they typically want someone with a ton of experience or a degree.
