To be fair Scream has always been pretty meta. Even in the first movie we had Randy pointing out all the usual tropes and whatnot. But I get that people might not like that.

    • @D33STRUCTIV3

What’s kind of fucked up is that being meta has kind of become a trope in and of itself.
It should be done cleverly in order to be appreciated, and that’s exactly why a series that goes into the 5th and 6th installment risks losing quality.

@@D33STRUCTIV3 yeah the new directors have even said the only reason they make horror movies is because of Wes Craven and the Scream franchise. All in all I think they’ve done a good job with adapting it to a modern audience and keeping the tone similar.

Randy: There are certain RULES one must abide by in order to successfully survive a HORROR movie. For instance, Number 1, you can never have sex.
      *everyone booing*
Randy: Big no-no! Sex = death, ok? Number 2, you can never drink or do drugs.
*Everyone cheers and clunks their beers*
Randy: It's a sin and an extension of Number 1. And number 3, never ever, ever under any circumstances say "I'll be right back" cause you won't be back.
Stu: I'm getting another beer, you want one?
      Randy: ...yeah, sure.

You could feel the energy of the fans in their total anticipation for the movie to start. I remember the reaction of the audience when Dewey got stabbed. You could hear everyone legitimately getting upset. I remember looking around the room at that moment and some people were literally crying. At the end when it was revealed he was alright, the whole theater cheered! Definitely one of the most memorable theater experiences I've ever had. You don't see that to often. It's nice to know Charlie liked it. Sounds like this Scream went back to its roots from the first 2 movies. The 3rd was a dumpsterfire. 4th was decent and 5th was decent. Wished they fleshed out the other characters more. They kinda went a little too much with Sam's relation to Billy. In all movies I didn't expect who the killers were except in the 5th. But I didn't guess both. I guessed one of them right and when it was revealed I was like "HOW DID YOU NOT SEE IT COMING?!" Like Sid tells Jill not to trust anyone when she was kinda mentoring her on finding the killer in the 4th AND a character even said not to count out certain people in the 5th movie itself.
I saw the trailer yesterday and the killer really seems revamped. I mean the mask is completely different from anything now AND he seems more realistic and just "I want to kill you" Instead of "I want to toy with you before I kill you" type of way. And judging by the trailer, it seems like they've done their research on the past killers.

Sometimes it's better to forget about logic for a while and keep fan favorites alive. And as for the fake out death, it was dramatic because we've seen this in 5 other Scream films. You can't just stab someone a couple times in the gut and expect fans of the franchise to believe that character is dead. You need to make people believe they really died, so there's more emotion. I tried to avoid spoilers, but if you've seen the film, you know who I'm talking about.

He's competent, extremely dangerous, and above all, not entirely humorous. Dead by daylights ghostface is a methodical killer, seeking whatever pride he can get out of every kill to fuel his massive, yet fragile ego. And whenever, however rare, he slips up, his real spite shows, and he's even more sadistic than ever. It's honestly funny, how such a competent killer becomes what the ghistface is best known for for a moment; funny... Then he goes right back to being terrifyingly spiteful.

1 and 4 I'd say had reveals that were worth it (well one of the two killers in 4).

@@FredCracklin Nothing will ever top 1 for me. 4 was okay, probably the better of the sequels. 5 was pretty good, but cliche, but I guess that's Scream for ya. 6 was just sad. I really wanted it to be Stu

@@ohski8574 I think they're holding onto him for the next one. They mentioned Lillard character in the movie, and I expect that he'll be the guy to come up next time

@Ian Byrne it just felt so right for him now. It felt like they were giving everyone a proper send off. I bet they had a script with Lillard in it but couldn't get him on board so they rewrote it last minute. This would've been a perfect way to close the book on scream

@@ohski8574 matthew lillard said he would do another scream in an interview. I think they wouldn't put stu on a movie without sidney

I agree with everything but I do like the meta parts personally because that is what scream is remembered for and it’s been a part of the movies ever since the first one. The character Randy introduced the whole meta thing and I think that all the movies being self aware is the best part of the movies for me.

Moist, this film was HORRIBLE. The ending was god awful. I'm shocked you aren't shitting on it, honestly. Her letting her friends bleed out while she performs the perfect "revenge kill" on the bad guy. So bad. So cheesy.

Scream is our only hope it seems for sequels can actually try to make sense with a story and bring fans together

Melissa Barrera REALLY made this movie. All the core 4 were amazing. Hayden Panettierre was awesome. But Melissa was RUTHLESS and intense. The fact that she got called the weakest actor (which was always hilarious to me considering I had seen her in a lot of stuff besides Scream and I knew how awesome she was otherwise) for her performance in Scream 5, she has given THE best performance in the 6th movie by a considerable distance. Brilliant movie. Loved it.

Eh. Her character is still the weakest of the bunch by far.
