If there's anyone that demonstrates the strength of location and intent, I agree that it's Cole Ragans! 2023 was the prime example of this: fastballs up, curveballs down, cutters and sliders gloveside, and changeups armside. It's what made him so special in 2023 and what encapsulated his struggles in 2024. I love how you break down the potential specifics behind his location struggles and how he is addressing it this season!
In my opinion, location plays better against hitters/teams who swing for the fences. Hitters, more and more, don’t swing unless they’re getting off their “A+ swings”. Location guys can just keep those guys guessing. Hitters who go the other way well, or have gap power but not necessarily home run power, can get to location guys with just not taking ego swings. An abundance of base hits. Even through Hendricks’ struggles earlier this year, he kept the ball in the yard. Hitters just take their singles off him.
In his first 40 innings Hendrix allowed 11 home runs, in his last 40 he’s allowed 4. That’s why opinions don’t matter. Because it’s anecdotal and often very wrong.
@@griffinjachim437 I watched every game and now that you mention it, you’re right. But he also gets bullied by singles hitters. They just take their singles and rack up runs. Not sure if there’s a stat category for you to draw your inferences from regarding my observation but it’s whatever
I think Keller might have said he won't throw a splitter because he didn't like how it made his elbow feel. That could be Garrett Crochet though, not sure how I got those two mixed up if I did.
Great video, Do you have any recommendations on college majors if you want to work in a front office? I was going to chose business management with a minor of sports management but I wasn’t 100% sure if that was the right route to go for. Thanks
I don’t think there’s a specific route that helps or hurts. I imagine sports management would set you up well. I also think finance would likely help from a valuation and risk perspective. I’m probably not the best person to ask about this if I’m being honest haha but that’s my 2 cents

Probably Keller? That makes some sense
Crochet probably doesn’t need a split, he’s dominant without one
