As a non-pitcher the only part I really understand is that he’s more over the top now, in all respects. Also-hitting MLB pitching is the hardest thing in sports. Difficult enough just to make contact, let alone hit the ball fair and with decent exit velocity, etc.

nah, it's similar to lifting weights, once you learn how to lift correctly, its amazing how much more you can actually lift in a short period, good mechanics and technique can improve a LOT
