Back in the 60s when I was a kid and growing up I loved Saturday mornings and the cartoons and then came Sunday, which was even better because the “Wonderful World of Disney” came on. And now, all these years later again, I look forward to Sunday evening again. Of the many, many channels I watch yours is number one. It is so enjoyable, wholesome and fun, and I learn a lot. Please be careful and keep up the fantastic work.

That excavator is amazing. I can't imagine you ever doing without one now. A touch of somberness in Today's video. All the way from the music to your narrative, just something in the air I guess. Thanks for taking us along.

When you said, 'I need to get back to work' I relaxed back to enjoy. I'm not a big fan on how the inside of a motor works so I've been pining. I'm back in my personal comfort zone again, watching you build your family's life on the homestead. You thank us for coming but I thank you for being here 🙃💜 Happy New Year.

My forestry school recommended no more than a 7% slope for a logging road and no more than 15% for very short distances like a switchback. That is what you should strive for on your road to the top. You should lay it out first with surveyors tape and a long measuring tape. You can gauge the slope using the height of a person at the end of a 100 ft. tape.

Judith'B I love old westerns and the earlier Colonial stores by Zane Grey. I like to look at the set decorations on the old westerns, etc to see what the mercantles, and cabins used in the blacksmithing, farms and kitchens. I look for these items at swaps and flea markets because those items could make a big difference if the world goes sideways someday. Its been mid 60s here last week, snow and ice is gone, and I am cleaning the yards, burning leaves and branches, dead logs and other stuff. Pruning bushes back and will start on the fruit trees soon. I need to move flagstones and build a walkway, and fill holes with dirt. Hard work makes me feel better and clears the cobwebs!!! I really enjoy watching your progress!!

you are making good progress - ditches for drainage and gravel should help a bunch and once you complete switchback and up and over to back 40 you will finally have access and can build a nice airbnb cottage which should be a nice summer project - don't be afraid to take out more trees and give yourself some elbow room - winter may end up being best time to address and build a road but it will be a work in progress for a while - be patient and persistent - the gravel and sand will help with drainage and lock things in place

You can run that slash through the chipper.
Either use those chips as fuel or for smoking some good meat.
Heck, city folks buy them chips by the bag.
I Envision all the trees on the hill tapped and a Labyrinth of pipes coming down to the Sugar Shack.
You ever think of putting a quonset hut over those tanks?
Would be pretty quick and give you some much-needed cover.

This is genius! As the snowmelt comes off the mountain, it will now hit the trail and the path of least resistance will then be to go down the trail, thereby leading the water away from the house and shop, AND it is even causing the land to settle on the trail even further. Genius. Did y’all start with this as one of your goals?
