  • Historic old Victorian mansion built in 1901. Lots of incredible details and old antiques. Last owner was an elderly woman who passed on with no remaining family members so the house has sat in limbo for nearly 20 years now. Unfortunately it’s reaching a point where if it’s not saved soon the house will be gone. So glad I could document this beautiful hi so old house! Truly stunning old house! Hope you enjoy thanks for watching! One of my all time favorites ever been

    The former owners were together from their childhood up until their deaths. He was a pilot in the Second World War earning a Medal of Honor for his bravery. He wrote to his wife everyday whike she awaited his return from fighting overseas. He finally made it home and they purchased this beautiful home and he ended up becoming the sheriff in that town. It’s sad to think that just not that many years ago there were two happy and healthy souls living in and enjoying that old home together. Lord how proud they must’ve been to have acquired such an astounding home. This is just one story of many that end up being forgotten in time to never be of any importance ever again. Thanks kappy for showing this old home. It’s a masterpiece for sure.

    What is left behind is definitely a reflection of that last living soul. She was a warm personality, creative, artistic, elegant, admired Nature and so kept those things near to her in daily life. She may have been reaching out to accompany you on part of your tour. At 16:45, 1 single, very bright orb came towards you, then heading off towards the space above you as it passed. What a glorious, refined and comfortable floorplan, created back in the day when your abode was built to be your castle; back when being 'at home' was a revered part of living, meant to be gracious and comforting, such that visitors could be welcome to call but knew to be delicate and not to be a burden. Today, people clamour to 'get away,' to be let out of their caskets and the shackles they call 'home' to exercise and compare their materialistic accomplishments. It was such a different vibe back in the day, and familiarity with that sort of comportment shall die off with those who recall those most gracious times. TY for sharing, Kappy. My heart is sad at what Human society has become but the memories of those times are heartwarming. God Bless and "Thanks for the memories..."

      @MekareP Рік тому +5

      I appreciate your sentiments ❤️ I would like to say though, because it surprised me to learn since we have such a romantic view of the victorians. They were incredibly materialistic and built these houses to show off much the same as we do now. Consumerism was rampant. Hence how you ended up with poison wallpaper. Lots of people referred to these big houses much the same way we think of McMansions now. It's really interesting to see how much things look so different but still behaved the same.

    • @rockybernard2997
      @rockybernard2997 Рік тому +9

      @@MekareP No doubt, those who built this structure originally were not without means or consequence. And I understand your perceptions of the Victorian era. You recite the classic textbook description of that age. I was raised by my Victorian Grandmother. During most of her years of employment, she worked as housecleaner for Royalty when they were in their London residence. GrandPa was a London Cabbie. Though her Aunts were seamstresses for the Court, my grandparents were of meager means. When she came to America, she brought with her a single, silver tea strainer. That, aside from her wedding ring, prayer book and dictionary, was the extent of her 'materials' other than what she wore and her housecoat. Even though, it was extremely important to her that proper rituals were followed: teapot from Goodwill had to be warmed before pouring freshly boiling water over loose tea leaves, and I remember particularly, as a child, being cleaned and prettied up, then taken to visit her neighbor in the rented flat below, for a sit down spot of tea, and Mr. Mariola entertained us with his talking parakeet. Always the utmost decorum and proper manners was required, regardless of income. Now, that's not to say there weren't materialistic individuals in the Victorian era. But that IS to point out that sensibilities were different in those times and having meager means wasn't an excuse for boorish or braggartly behaviour. Apparently, you learned your history from books which tend to broadly sweep the masses into particular classes, paying particular attention to those of means (more interesting to be sure). I learned it from a British Victorian. The behaviours of the past is nothing like the social behaviour we are forced to suffer today.

    It’s interesting, how the fire places are all different and unique. The fireplace at the top of the first set of steps is made out of a different word than the steps, stair rail, and floor. The Frigidaire icebox was a cool find! I loved the door handles, pocket doors, and I found the windows, very unique how they had ledges that came out into the room and they all had shutters at one point. A master craftsman did the woodwork on this house. What wonderful detail in each room! Such a shame it is rotting away.

This house was beautiful and it was nice to see a house that had not been vandalized with graffiti like so many of the other ones. And those doorknobs were almost like little works of art. If someone could fix the leaky roof and repair the water damage in that one upstairs bedroom, the rest of the house would be relatively easy to bring back to its original glory. Kappy, you should start a Go Fund Me to help you fix up this beautiful mansion for you and Ruby to live in.

    Oh wow, this beautiful and elegant old gal could and should be saved! Every detail in this house is stunning from the woodwork to the doorknobs. Just selling part of the contents (the old glassware, home decor, and vintage clothing scattered everywhere are worth more than you would think) would raise enough to get started. I would guess the state owns it at this point if she left no heirs? I'm sure the local community would benefit from the sale of this property. Maybe one of the historic renovation channels will see it and give it a shot, restoring it wouldn't be that hard and would make great content.

    That is an amazing home!!! I am completely stunned how the outside is so worn down and washed out, but inside is still pretty immaculate!!!! I have always loved Victorian homes, and would LOVE to return this home back to its former beauty… if only I knew how, and I had the money to invest in it! Thank you for sharing this little gem. 🙂❤️

    What an absolutely beautiful old house 🏚. I love old houses the most. They don't make houses like this anymore. These houses were built to last forever it seems. Thanks for showing us this old house. Someone needs to restore this beauty 😍 😤.

    Loving that 30's vibe I get from this place, my favorite era. And that is the best vintage kitchen I've ever seen in a house. I could move right in.

    What a wonderful place, it's a shame no one invested in a decent roof years ago to protect the interior. The mantels, doorknobs and, ceilings are great finds. That upstairs porch, wow! I too hope some one rescues this beautiful old place. Thanks, Kappy

    This house, so grand but still holding its simplistic elegance; the ceilings, the door jambs, the kitchen. And so many beautiful old pieces inside! It would make a great museum or B&B. I hope that it will be saved.

    Kappy, I whole heartedly agree with you my friend, that is one extraordinary home. The wood working and design elements inside and outside that home are superb, one of a kind. Like you said it is like one day they owners just got up and walked away. But there is a very good chance they died alone in a hospital and the home was abandoned. Kappy, you certainly know how to pick them. Have an Extraordinary Week Kappy.

    Wow! This one was truly special. All that lovely, ornate, dark wood trim without making the whole place feel heavy. It is actually light and airy. And what a unique floor plan! It does look like someone is making an effort. That blue tarp looked new. The drip buckets weren't overflowing. The lawn was recently mowed. It would truly be a shame to lose this one.
