Buying my dad one of those specifically because of that scene
I got the F-91W because I was hitchhiking around Europe and my smartphone battery really sucked so I had an alarm to wake me up in the morning. 10€, I went surfing with it very often and it never let me down. I wear the Seiko of my grandfather at the moment and i'll finish my masters degree this year and buy a good classic watch for my first 3 paychecks but the Casio is the symbol of good memorys on the road for me and I hope it always will be.
who else was expecting a Casio watch 🤣

3 of these are on my 7 "for life" watches list! (Sub, AP, Navitimer) and I've got the Seiko SK003 which is basically from the SKX family. Class list 👌🏼 was a difficult choice to leave Patek off the list, although I've never really been a fan. It is however starting to grow on me!

Casio F-91W is the only alone digital watch that can compete with some of the most elegant watches brands in the world. You can't complete your list of the most iconic and most important watches in the world without this inexpensive yet the most sold watch in the world. Hell yeah, F-91W is a god-tier cheap watch.

Ive read somewhere the f91w is the most used watch in bomb making. I have no idea if it is true.
I'd say that there are only about 3 watches that are truly recognizable by most people.
1: Apple watch
2: Casio (G-Shock/F-91w)
3: Rolex sub
Everyone knows what an apple watch is these days since they have so many ads and you'll know someone who owns one.
Casio is slightly below apple since they are affordable, and most people would probably have had one when they were a kid, or used one for work. I put them below since nobody knows their model numbers.
Rolex is probably the only luxury watch brand that the mainstream knows about. But even then I've still had people think that my Rolex sub was an omega seamaster, and most people don't even know about PP/AP. Most people who aren't into watches will not recognise anything outside of casio/apple watch.

Solid list. I’m trying to think what I would add, but I’m having a tough time. Fifty fathoms, seiko astron? Probably more influential than iconic. Maybe a 90s bond seamaster, one swatch to represent them all, seiko 6309, gshock dw 5600? I hate to say it, cause I don’t roll like this, but if we’re being real, you would probably have to have an Apple Watch.
