Programming invT into a Ti 83 or Ti 83+ Calculator

- This video steps you through programming the invT function into your Ti 83/83+ calculator. The invT function is similar to the invNorm function; it computes t-values given two inputs: the area to the left of the t-value you are looking for, and the degrees of the freedom. In other words, it is the inverse of the tcdf function.
Update: As someone very helpfully suggested, use the "A-LOCK" (alpha lock) when typing in alpha characters so you don't have to keep hitting "ALPHA" before each character.

thank you so much for this. for the future, i'll leave a comment of wisdom for some people: if your calculator only showns prgmINVT, press enter to actually begin running the program. only after pressing enter will the calculator ask you to input the area to the left. press enter again and you may enter the df.

I continued to get "syntax error" I went back in and deleted the "end" and just left that line blank. works perfect now. LIFE SAVER!!!

I've redone it several times and it still gives me the error :(
Relook at your coding by going to prgm and edit the INVT. Make sure everything is exactly the same because I was sure I typed it right and I was having the same issue but then something was wrong and I changed it and now it works for me.

Thanks, worked on Ti-82 also. You have to be very specific with dots and commas, else you will get errors.

Update: you can find the < (less than) sign in the 2nd TEST menu more quickly than finding it in the 2nd CATALOG menu.

This did not work for me, I kept getting the syntax error, which I could never figure out. Found a different program that works, though its a few more lines of code. Check out link below, youtube gets rid of lines in comments, so it'll look all jumbled, but the PDF linked showed the program that worked for me.

I got the same syntax error at first on my TI-83 but noticed that you have to press ENTER again after selecting the prgrmINVT function. It will then prompt you to input AREA LEFT, then DF. works fine.

@deezeejoey I was just having problems with this same issue. I just figured it out! Since you have .95, you need to take the remaining .5 part, divide by 2, and the 2.5 of the 5 is the "area to the left." So for Area to the left type 2.5, and the type your DF, you should get the right answer!
