    I just got my brother 2340 coverstitch machine. I started playing with it and realized I was gonna need some practice before I could really use it on a garment. So I started googling tips and tricks. I was so excited when I found your videos. They are seriously so helpful! Thank you so much for posting them. I’m already so much more comfortable on my machine. Also your video for how to remove fabric from the machine was a life changing. Thanks again!

    Thank you for another helpful video. I like the in the round. Very professional. I love to sew and have people ask me all the time to make children’s outfits but I never know what to charge. I know it’s better made that what’s out in the stores. I’ve mostly sewn for family and gifts. Do u have a video on business tips and tricks? I’ve stopped alterations because people did not want to pay me. Alterations area lot of deconstruction and reconstruction. You appear to have it going good. How did you partner with your sellers?

    Love your cover stitch videos! I have had my machine for almost two years and have been afraid to use it. I will definitely be using it in the future. I was wondering if it matters how you cut the threads when you are finishing your seam. I’m not sure exactly how you are cutting them Thank you!

    • @jeanetteweger5518
      @jeanetteweger5518  5 років тому

      When I release the needle threads I pull them out from under the foot to the side then snip, then release the looper tension as I pull the fabric out altogether

  • @anitagillenwater6614

    It’s Here!!! Thank you for the needle info. Needles and threads are in the cart What kind of double fold binding foot u do you recommend?

    • @jeanetteweger5518
      @jeanetteweger5518  2 роки тому

      Congrats!!!! Actually I don’t useable double fold binder, I use what is called top clean bottom raw binder. It only fold the top and the bottom is one layer, not folded. I like it because it’s less bulky especially for baby clothes. I bought it on eBay. The size I bought is 31mm which has a finish of 7/16.

    I have a hard time pulling the garment out of my coverstitch machine. Watching your video, you made it look so easy. I have a brother 2430 too, but my material always gets struck in the machine. Any tips on removing the finished work? Thanks

    • @jeanetteweger5518
      @jeanetteweger5518  6 років тому

      Mia McDermott. Are you pushing your tension buttons on top to the right? Your have to release the tension as you pull the thread at the needle.

    • @miamcdermott3741
      @miamcdermott3741 6 років тому

      Jeanette Weger, I do release the tense when I pull the thread. But after that, I always have a hard time to pull the garment out even though I pull about 3" thread out.

    • @jeanetteweger5518
      @jeanetteweger5518  6 років тому

      Mia McDermott. you may need to pull more then 3". After you pull the needle threads and cut under the foot, you need to give a slight tug of the fabric while you push the looper tension button on top too. Have you watched all my videos? I think I covered the release in the quick tips videos.

    • @jeanetteweger5518
      @jeanetteweger5518  6 років тому

      Thank you, I'm glad they are of help. Just remember, the CV does not work like a serger, it does take time, patience and practice. If you're an avid sewer it should take you a couple of weeks to catch on. Also remember the settings are important and once you get things set, you won't change much from one project to the next.
      On your next leotard, try stretching less on the fabric and stretch the elastic. Use the 85% measure on elastic unless your patterns tells you the length, some don't.

    Nice. I thought you still needed to tie the ends of the coverstitch threads. Can’t they pull out from the end? Just asking. I learned that way. Thanks.

    • @jeanetteweger5518
      @jeanetteweger5518  5 років тому

      When coverstitching in the round there is no need to tie any ends because you will be coverstitching over the beginning stitches. If you coverstitch straight there is no need to tie the end because you will be serging over the beginning coverstitches which will keep them from pulling out.

    • @stephaniekeime5676

      Jeanette Weger In the last week or so, I made 17 dance costumes for a college team. Briefs with 3 coverstitched seams each. Mesh with overlayed tops with straps and chokers so another 9 coverstitched seams per top there. That’s 204 knots for no reason! Waaaahhhhh! 😩😩😩

    I just recently started using my coverstitch and for some reason after I serge the ends the coverstitch isn’t as stretchy anymore. Are the stitches too short?

  • @raeannstout2966

    You keep saying 'serge' but this is a coverstitch, not a serger.

    • @jeanetteweger5518
      @jeanetteweger5518  5 років тому

      I am fully aware that this is a coverstitch machine as the title indicates. When I reference "serge" in the video, I am letting you know that you can either coverstitch the hem prior to serging, i.e. a flat hemming or you can hem after you have serged, i.e in the round. Go back and listen!!!
