It is important to note that Tesla is not using the new Hankook tire in the 18” size despite it being available. Only the upgrade 19” wheels will be available with these new Hankook tires. While these tires will improve the efficiency of the 19” wheels the 18” wheels still have far superior efficiency even with the same tires that the previous Model 3 vehicles had.
I am more interested in a tire supporting the Tesla's weight than anything else. I have never gotten so many friggen' flat tires since getting a Tesla. When going on road trips, I actually travel with 2 spares in the back of the Model Y. Yes, it has been that ridiculous. I've tried many different brands too, Pirelli, Continental, and so on. Can't wait to try the Hankook iON evo AS SUV.
@@pc8134 Tesla Model 3 isn’t actually heavy for the power it has. Model Y is a few hundred lbs more. Just put 18” wheels on it and you won’t get anymore flats.
I put 19's on it hoping that would do it. It might not be just the weight, but the way the Tesla puts power down might lead to more punctures.@@LearningFast
@@stefanosk80 definitely a more quiet tire compared to Conti ProContact. I would say a slight increase in efficiency. Downside, the hankooks don’t have as much cornering grip. Grip isn’t as confident.
saw a M3 Highland this morning at Tesla service center in Berkely, CA . Tires were Hankook Ventrus ( don't recall (letters/# after that) size was 235/45/R18 ..
For the 3P, they run the Pirelli Pzero PZ4 in T1 in 235/35/20. I see Hankook have made the ION AS in that size too? I assume the ION is more geared towards economy rather than the performance of a P zero?
I had a plug and patch repair on the OE Michelin tires, which required removing the foam where the nail is so the patch can be glued on. A few days later, I hear a noise and I suspect some of the foam also detached and is flapping inside the wheel. Moved the wheel to the rear and cant hear it now.
Are you sure they're using the summer tires and not the AS? I don't even see the summer tires available anywhere yet and unless they changed the 19" size they don't have one in the same size as the old 19" Tesla tires.
So EV makers can quote their cars as having more range by using the most efficient EV tires? And when the driver switches to other tires they complain about the advertised range.

This tire is used on 19" Highland while 18" now uses Micheline e-Primac instead of Pilot Sport 4.
I wish to learn the difference. My PS4 are running low...

Pirelli PZ4 235 45 R18 (68 dB) is a good option. Silent and A on wet ground
Ok but I could not find this tire on their website for 19inch rims 😭
Just bought these to replace OEM Continental ProContact RX. The noise difference is quite substantial!
The foam inside makes quite a difference! How is the range?
@@thetirelab just got em. Will report later!
@@branfooy Hello there, any updates, on noise and performance of the new tires?

The Hankook Ventus iON is the same tire. They no longer make the tire with the "Ventus" name on it. Simply a name change

Exactly, PZ4s are subjectively somewhere between PS4 and PS4S, the Hankooks are less sporty than that.

Anyone had issues with foam getting loose on this tires causing vibration ?
Yes!
I did once. The tire shop didn’t believe me until they took the tire off the rim. It definitely happens

Good luck with the K! Worst tyres i had, switched back to Michelin,.

Same for ICE vehicles...

ARE HANKOOK TIRES MORE COMFORTABLE AND SILENT THAN MICHELIN PS4?
THANK YOU
Noise should be better thanks to the foam inside the tire, comfort wise I can't say but my guess is that it should be comparable.
@@thetirelabAll model 3 tires have had foam in them.
