"Don't talk to me for AT LEAST two days!" "Don't ask me to do this again next year." "WHERE'S. THE. WINE?"
All things they usually say after spending a day cooking, roasting and basting a turkey in the oven, making sure it doesn't dry out and looks and tastes absolutely spectacular for everyone at the table. This is, after all, a turkey we're talking about here - the crown jewel centerpiece at EVERY Thanksgiving table. No room for error or humiliation!
But forget all of that stress. That game is about to change by cooking your turkey in the Instant Pot - and for the moist, flavorful and set-it-and-forget-it better! I'm going to take your hand and show you how to do this - NO TURKEY INTIMIDATIONS HERE!
Now, because the Instant Pot is only so large (I made mine in an 8qt, but you can also do it in a 6qt), this method is meant for smaller size turkeys that will generously feed a family of 4-6 people. But after perfecting this method, I can tell you here and now, I will NEVER go back to eating turkey any other way again (unless it's deep fried). And that says something since I've never been a huge turkey fan to begin with - but I sure am now!
AND what is even more incredible? Your turkey, gravy AND stuffing are all going to be done in one shot!
Your turkey is going to look so absolutely top-notch magnificent when done, that everyone will be praising you and giving YOU thanks!

Watching this video brings me great comfort, especially now, amidst all the craziness in our nation and world. This Thanksgiving, it might just be my wife, our daughter, and me at the table, but I know that if I follow this recipe, we will be in such food Heaven that it won't matter that we couldn't be in a big family group 🍗🦃😂. HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!!
This means so much.
My mother in law complimented me on my cooking for the first time when I made this for thanks giving. Thank you !
Mother-in-law approved!!
I think this was your most chaimish video to date. I never thought about doing a turkey, but I love the idea of instantpot for the stuffing. As an MD, I'm terrified of stuffing a turkey, then roasting it in the oven, and hoping to actually live to see December. The quick time of cooking also opens up "Thanksgiving" turkey to the whole year, without the mobs or the twenty pounds that leads to months of heartburn, much less lost freezer space. Great idea, other than having to buy a new, 8qt IP. Final word to the world, nothing, absolutely nothing beats a BRINED turkey! I think 12 hours is too short a time, that would be fine for a chicken. My brother and I have experimented with a 2 day brine, he prefers it, I didn't see any improvement in the flavor compared to a 1 day brining, and the bird was a bit salty. All in all, yet again, I'm filled with inspiration. Oh, I love your mom's accent! Just when I thought my wife's Brooklyn couldn't get any stronger, your mom sounds like all of my New York relatives... Ah, holidays.
Thank you to that turkey for giving its life to provide sustenance for us. 🙏
Had a heart attack when the water falls down the floor :)))). Beautiful video. Beautiful dish. I will certainly do this! Thank you.
My heart was sucked into my knees when that water hit the floor! For brining my turkey, I purchased a plastic bin. It is only used to brine my Thanksgiving turkey. I have to clear a lot of stuff out of my fridge, but it holds a 12 lb turkey and all the brining liquid no problem, no spills--just HEAVY. Also, just a tip, you don't have to heat an entire gallon of water to dissolve your brining spices. I usually heat about 4 cups of water and then pop everything into the water. Once the salt is dissolved, I let it simmer for a few minutes and then pour it into some iced water. Cools it down a lot faster that way and I don't have to wait as long to get on with my meal prep.
Looks yummy! This weekend I may try it! I have never used brine. I usually just pop it in the oven in the big bag after seasoning it and covering it with slices of butter. Then I make Stove Top stuffing and add mushrooms to it.
Did you notice how much salt is in that brine?????
Brilliant! Wondered why he couldn’t put ice in it BEFORE he puts it in the fridge to cool it quicker, first.
@@caridadeno5777 That's the whole point of the brine. The salt gets absorbed into the turkey, salt attracts water, so it makes the turkey flesh pull in the water. You would think the turkey would come out all salty after you cook it, but it doesn't. Things come out tender, moist and very flavorful.
Mia where did you buy the plastic bin?
After several turkey trials in the instant pot, I think Im getting this dialed. I brined it before. That's a great start! I had a 9lb turkey... first I dried it off really good with a towel, shoved a whole stick of butter pats under the skin, rubbed with cajun seasoning and olive oil, poured IPA beer, pickle juice, Worcestershire sauce in the bottom below the wire rack keeping the meat above the liquid. Cooked for 6min/lb 15 minute rest, then put it in the oven for 5 min under the broiler which crisped that skin up to perfection. I just put the metal instant pot in the oven... was no problem.
This whole stuffed turkey was my first attempt at using my new Instant Pot for my Thanksgiving family dinner. Jeffrey walked me through it so easily. Results? Perfect meal. Thanks!
Pro tip for mixing cornstarch and water, put the water and cornstarch in a small jar and shake it to mix the two together. This way you do not get the cornstarch lumps. It really speeds up the mixing process.
Loved the video it's was both entertaining and informative. That brine was I believe the key. I have an eight quart machine and will mimic this recipe for the holiday festivities. I enjoy all the videos! Keep those cameras rolling.
In Maine we set the brine outside to cool and hope it doesn't freeze.
Haha
Ron G Lol!!
And in Michigan we use a 5 gallon bucket... not a bag! Slap on a lid and set it in the garage overnight!
My whole family loved this! I made it for Thanksgiving and it was wonderful!
I would have used a wand whisk and mixed in the cooked veggies as well to make the Gravy and whilst the Turkey was finished off in the oven cooked some fresh veggies and potatoes. Here in the U.K our equivalent is our Christmas Dinner, Turkey with all the trimmings and the main reason we oven roast ours is because that includes Roast Parsnips and Potatoes which are Par Boiled the cooked in the Roasting tray for and hour with the Turkey (I also like to oven roast whole Onions)
How come I'm just now discovering this awesome channel???? Love this guy! I can't wait to try out the Turkey and the potato pillow recipes.

Jeff, I just stumbled across your videos while on UA-cam. Great job young man! I have been debating on whether to purchase an Instant Pot. Like I really need another kitchen appliance. Most of them end up in storage, other than my crockpot, food processor, and Kitchenaid mixer. But you sold me on the Instant Pot! It would be great for those times I want to make a meal but am short on time.. I am convinced I would use this appliance often. Thanks Jeff!
I use my instant pot 4 to 5 days a week, definitely a great kitchen counter staple.
I just love your videos. So helpful!!! I'm a new instant pot owner the last month or so! You have made this purchase so much more exciting!! Keep up the great work!!! Thank you!!

Turkey Day! ❤️🦃🇺🇸
I use a big pot, never a plastic bag. That looked really stressful! Hahah
Even without brining a turkey will be amazing in an instant pot.

Great video , I was drooling when the turkey came out.
Wow.. who knew.. I've got to give this a try for sure
We Love Your Cooking jeff ..
Great tip on how to 'brown' the turkey Jeff! I made a 9lb turkey breast in my IP8 a couple weeks ago and it turned out very tender and moist also!
I'm trying a 9lb turkey right now. I hope it's moist and delicious. I didn't fo this brine. I did butter and spices shoved between the skin and meat. No stuffing.
Hey Jeff! You should consider redoing this recipe with IP air fryer so we don’t have to transfer to the oven. Great stuff!
Cant wait for the Duo Crisp version.
OMG! That turkey water! I can’t stop laughing!
Excellent , you made your family happy .
I take about 2 tablespoons of italian seasoning, 1 of powdered onion, garlic and salt and pepper mince real fine in coffee grinder.take about 2 or three sticks of butter mix together.using a basting brush and basting needle brush and get under and into flesh of meat.basting every so often.I also break the back and breastbone.cooking it upside down makes it so tender it melts in your mouth.I'm 75 so been doing it this way for a long time.
This is a great video! Thanks for posting. :)
this looks wonderful!!!!
I didn't see any roast potatoes. I am from England UK and we have roast potatoes with all our meats, as well as Yorkshire pudding. Some have a combination of roast boiled and mash, although for me that is a bit much. I am still a learning as I have only just got my 8 qrt instant pot duo a month ago. I have been waiting a long time to get one, as we did not have them over hear and the postage and tax to order from the US was too expensive. Then recently I saw them come up and was able to get mine. I love it and it has really changed my life. It is Christmas day today and we are having a Turkey Crown. So I have been watching this video to get an idea how to cook it. Yours looks lovely. Have a Happy Christmas and a healthy prosperous New Year. God bless.
Bravo, Jeffrey. well done. found u just in time. thanx.
Thanks for this! This is great!!!
Can't wait to try a turkey in the insta pot. Thanks for your recipes.
