Hope my experiences are helpful to you! Here's that book link again :) andrewhuang.com/book
Hey, I preordered the book on Amazon for my Kindle when you announced it, I assume that doesn't give the fun stuff?
You're channel has been helpful to me for years, can't wait to read your book!
@@BeniRoseMusic yep just visit andrewhuang.com/book and find the yellow "claim bonuses" button and put in your info :)
@@Skibbityboo0580 thanks so much!
a big fan of your work and your approach. You are an inspiring person and I have learnt a lot from your videos. And business yes, is an important factor to keep in mind, so good you took this angle as well in your videos. Minor point for you to consider - calling your book as a "potentially life changing" piece of work is a very strong statement, and to some extent could be a slightly deceiving one. You have rightly earned the confidence in what you say - and what you do is generally great. But you can also let your great output speak for itself. It probably is the best approach long term.
The Venn diagram tool is very similar the the Japanese concept of Ikigai - finding your purpose at the intersection of these 4 areas: What you love, what the world needs, what you can get paid for, and what you are good at
Love this
Totally
Yeah but a lot of the areas where the philosophy of Ikigai works and is popular in Japan are tiny communities where people just bum around and work in their garden half the day and help each other out almost like a commune. Ask a salary man in Tokyo about their Ikigai and they will scoff at you and take a draw of their 25th cigarette of the day.
You and rob are my biggest UA-cam inspirations. Thanks for being you 😊
Thanks for being so down with our shenanigans!
@@andrewhuang they are certainly some sonically pleasing shenaninagans
@@andrewhuangwe all thank you and rob for them.
Bro I've done so little on UA-cam but when you talked about setting up lighting and being presentable, that spoke directly to my soul. With my ADHD those are actually the main reasons I'm not consistent!
i feel like this contextualizes the way your channel has changed over the years in a very interesting way. also, love the new stuff and sonic boom is so great, feels like the charm and joy of first of october but with even more variety and production. im excited to start the book in a few days!!
It's so crazy how much your channel has inspired me. I found you back in 2019, just moved to Ireland, not knowing many people but excited about finally work on my dream, music.
I'm still so grateful for getting your music production course as a birthday gift at the perfect moment. I have experimented in Ableton so much until I found the type of music I'd love to make.
I can't wait to read your book!
Love to hear this, thank you so much and I’m glad I could help!
Really looking forward to getting my mitts on your book, Andrew. And, once again, I find myself loving your knitwear.
Just pre-ordered the book and Im hyped. I'm new to making music (only a year or so) and I feel like it can help. You've always been making awesome content that has entertained and educated. Thanks for being awesome and inspiring!
Thank you! I know you will get a lot out of it!
Your videos showed me that there are still people who care about quality mixing and making music because it's fun and not just about making money. I can't wait to read your book- I think it's going to bring back the motivation that I feel like I've lost.
It's been really great to see how you've continued to evolve your content but always staying within the same theme of helping and teaching others. From music production to life goals, you're always giving people frameworks they can use to be successful in what they want to do. Thanks Andrew!
Really excited to read your book! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences with us.
thank you for this video andrew, i've been following you for at least 4 years i think and is really amazing watching you evolve and I absolutely resonate with the Do what i want to do, is just the life that I imagine and seeing people doing it makes me more comfortable of making it possible. Again, thank you Andrew, see you in the next video :)
This is one of the first videos of yours I’ve seen, I think I saw a few of yours in the past incidentally but I’m really happy you’re following your bliss and giving others the tools and encouragement to do the same. Thank you so much! As I teach myself to produce etc I’m sure I’ll be going back through your older stuff, but just really happy you seem so content and have prioritized what makes you feel good. You’re a star. 🌟
Thank you for sharing this with us. It is too easy to get swept up in the pandemonium of the hustle (I think I just coined a new catch phrase). Some of us completely forget why we got into making music in the first place! XOXOXO Just bought the book...and I'm so happy for your mental health win.
Thanks for sharing that insight into how you chose your content direction. You’ve been an inspiration over the years, and as a music creator from Toronto myself, I’m looking forward to reading the book.
this is so good! I'm just now starting my journey to become a full time musician on the internet! That's what i, over the past few years, relised is what i want to be and do! i'm still struggeling with all that marketing and strategy stuff, cause i'm pretty bad at understanding what's helpful for successfully getting my stuff out there. So this video and is incredibly helpfull in giving me guidlines that i can start off of! and as soon as the audiobook is avaliable for me, i'm sure it will be too! So thanks andrew, you are trying to help other musicians start a career and you are very much helping me in this regard! I hope i'll manage to get this thing going in the coming year! Wish me luck haha!
Just digging into your audiobook (Thanks for narrating, I love when authors read their own books) Lots of great insight and really enjoying it.
Wow, really appreciate the candor in this one. I'm glad you're doing what you enjoy now and not just what you feel you have to do! That's the dream. Been watching for a while, and I love all the stuff you post, Andrew!
ive always loved your content even since the old daya and i have to say i miss the fun sample stuff but i also love just seeing you work on whatever you want. youre a huge inspiration!!!! thank you for sharing your heart filled with joy with the world
Really appreciate you open sourcing your models. I've very slowly found my way towards this kind of approach and this is further inspiration & prompting, thank you!
This is some truly inspiring and encouraging stuff, really looking forward to the book!
One thing that I'm not sure if you ever touch on in the book but havent in any of these videos so far is how you got that idea generation process rolling? The spreadsheets seem so useful, the diagram is such a good idea, and if you have 10 new ideas every day it would be amazing to quickly filter things down and know what needs focusing on. But I wont lie I'm not in the best place right now and the amount of ideas happening is very low - on most days or weeks theres just nothing there to organise and filter. I'd love to learn more about what you're doing or thinking about that leads to this much musical inspiration.
Hey brother. You've done a lot and inspire us. Thank you. Praying for you. God bless.
Keep going.
I love this channel that I just discovered today will definitely be looking into your book… Appreciate you for showing your work!
Really insightful. Needed this
Thank you very much for existing
Fantastic book! I found your story highly relatable as a misfit Canadian nerd musician. Just finished today and found there were a lot of takeaways for me both for my musical endeavours and my main, non-musical career, including this diagram. Thank you for sharing so much of your life and mind with the masses =)
I took your production course a few years ago, im for sure gonna preorder the book! Plus the producer Bad Snacks was just promoting it slightly to my college production class haha
I so appreciate you! I’m a psychologist specializing in working with artists and what you share about your experience parallels that of very many of the folks I’ve seen. Definitely going to pick up a copy of your book as a reference for my patients. Thanks for all you do!
Andrew, you are such a diamond and so kind. This is inspiring, but also in a way that is actually actionable!
Thanks as always for making awesome stuff, all the best!
Great video. I just pre ordered your book. Thanks man!
Just preordered through BnN. I have your Book of Chances and am excited to have your book as well!
Got the book today. Glad you’re doing what you do!
This was exactly what I was looking for as I started the new year. Thank you for sharing.
Amazing man! Just pre-ordered the book! Can’t wait…
Read the firsts 4 chapters of your book yesterday while waiting for hours at the hospital. I can really relate to a lot of the content so far... I'm looking froward to chapter 5 and up. 💌
Thank you for making this. It kinda gives me some perspective on your process. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of your book; as someone who is trying to figure out my own music career, I'm very curious to see what a successful musician like you has learned. You're a huge inspiration for me, so thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience. ❤
Just bought your audiobook! So glad it's on audible
You are so inspiring, I love the visuals, your lighting set up, how organized you are and how you focused on achieving your goals. Thank you for sharing your experience and how you were able to build. I'm so grateful ❤ Anyone can get to this point. It takes consistency, persistency, growth, passion, a a strong belief that you are worthy of being here. 💪
While i've always liked your videos, I feel more proud to be a fan now than I ever have. Its awesome and amazing to see what you're making, and how it is helping others. A huge inspiration. Can't wait to get the book in
This is incredibly helpful, thanks man!
Only a third of the way in and already deeply appreciate this video. … just realizing I pre-ordered at Amazon… been reading and loving this! Anyway to get these bonuses still? They’d be immensely helpful.
Pre-ordered the audiobook already! I assume I'm already entered then? It looks really good, Andrew! Can't wait to dive in :)
Ive been watching since Songstowearpantsto and Ive loved watching your channel evolve and the journey youve gone on! :) Cant wait to read your book!
This was such an awesome video Andrew. Thanks for sharing!
I love what you do, keep it up man you are an amazing human being and artist. thanks again for sharing your experience in this flow of life!
i think you are right work hard in the start till the point you have the leverage of doing this on your own schedule thanks needed this a lot !
dude! such great info here.! I loved how you talked about the burn out and making what you wanted to your main metric
This is really helpful content Andrew, thank you!!
Making a five ring Venn diagram as neat as yours will be an accomplishment in and of itself. I'm afraid pink highlighter juice will turn me into a turquoise mood ring.
been a fan for a minute... really digging the business/industry related talks
also very much digging long hair-scruffy andrew
Just learned of you scrolling through Audible, I’ve been waiting for a book like this. Looking forward to learning.
I know it’s natural for the channel to not grow as quickly when you’re not charging full speed at the algorithm, but it’s kind of wild to me that so many people that were around for the Venn diagram era are missing out on the exciting still you have going on these days. Folks like you, Rob, and Adam are some of my biggest music heroes and I probably wouldn’t be about to graduate with a music degree without all the inspiration and education you’ve put out there for kids like me. It’s cool to think that the person who blew my mind when I was 15 by rapping in 5 languages and making songs out of tires just wrote a book that’s going to be such a useful and practical resource for 23 year old me as I get ready for whatever my career is about to be in this next season of life.
Crazy how becoming a father changes your perspective on life more than you could ever think possible. Hope you and your family are doing amazing. Your positivity is infectious and inspiring, don't ever stop doing what you want to do.
Still with you Andrew. Been around for a while, and have found a lot of enjoyment from your content, as well as learned a lot of wacky things about music, Ableton, and content creation. Keep doing what you're doing man
Thans Andrew, such an insightful video! 👏
“Found” sounds Andrew Huang. Wow…. That’s how I found this channel, and in the meantime I’d sorta forgotten about it because of how much his character has changed. Amazing how much growth / change happens.
great video! nice narrative arc to it as well
Can’t wait to read your book!!!
Thanks for this video. I am a music producer from Berlin who is going through the same thing. I rarely focus on tracks, videos and content which "worked well" because I prefer to focus on stuff which is fun and keeps me in the right mood! Appreciate you and keep it up
So Inspirational, thank you!
Thank you Andrew for all that you do, seriously. I was one of the first students in your online music making class but early on I was hit with some major technical mishaps that frankly threw me way off track (no pun intended) into a discouraged frustration on this end. My health drop has kept me from returning to the class, but I definitely plan to buy your book because music is still a hard set goal personally, and you deserve ALL the support. I'm a bit older than you but regardless you are a huge creative inspiration and wishin you all the best!
I’m an artist that mostly works with wood, but so much of what you do is an inspiration to my art. I can’t wait to get your book! Your wisdom and transparency as a creative is invaluable.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
Great video Andrew! Thank you for being so open about this.
Just bought the book, excited to dive in
You are a true light in this world, Andrew! 🙏☺️✨
Thanks for sharing. I am stuck with the opposite of writers block with my own music based UA-cam channel right now. There is an overwhelming amount of things that I want to accomplish, and fear that without adequate planning I will miss something and/or repeat myself. I feel like your video helped. 😊
Great pointers - I hope many see this - there are many great ideas in here (and your book!) :D
Excellent peace of advice for musicians all around. Cheers Andrew
Thanks Andrew. You're grounded perspective is what keeps me coming back to your channel
The Andrewkigai!!!!!! I love it!!!❤❤
Seeing this at a time I've been trying to get my music off the ground for ~9 years without finding my footing and growing, and not finding what makes people care about my music or what I offer. Been thinking about giving up and moving on, but this info convinced me to try the book and give it one last shot with a proper approach. Thanks for the inspiration
Great video. The lessons learned can be applied in general. Having that balance is so very important. It's so easy to get caught up in making content that goes viral at the expense of your mental health. Its not worth it. Doing what you want and having that freedom to me is priceless, So many people lose themselves chasing after money and fame. Freedom is where its at for me and having control over your time not letting other things control you. and staying true to yourself no matter what.
Awesome stuff! Ordered 🎉
Honestly, the concept of trying to fill all those circles brings me a lot of stress, and whenever I've tried in the past to act on all these "social media tips and tricks" stuff I've always felt really like... sterilized. I know focusing mainly on just what I want to do as a small content creator will probably mean I'll never grow as a content creator - and so I might not ever be able to do what I enjoy for a living - but I just wanna put all of my creative energy into things I enjoy. That being said, I enjoyed the video and appreciate your introspection!! Learning about various creators' workflow is interesting and I'll undoubtedly grab bits here-and-there to put into my own flow :D
I think there’s a couple levels to the “enjoy” / “what I want to do” items
For me anyway, there’s nothing I’ve created to share with the world that’s been enjoyment from start to finish. I would even say my best work probably stressed me out the most because I worked harder to get it right and it mattered more to me
There are always going to be things like editing, buying supplies, tuning a guitar
I would say it’s more a matter of whether those things contribute to a larger overall thing that you believe in, find fun, get meaning from
So with social media for instance directing some creative energy there is an investment in your work reaching people and your perhaps being able to do more of it. But of course this assumes you want to share your work or pursue it professionally, and it’s totally valid if you just want to enjoy your thing for yourself!
Great video and advice! Thanks for your perspective, you've actually given me a bit to think about here as I mull over returning to UA-cam.
Hope you're doing well, old friend!
andrew, you are very inspiring to me and many others, i literally don't remember how i found you i've been watching you for a while, maybe it was something like rapping without using the letter e? around that time at least. i think the craziest thing is being a kid hearing pink fluffy unicorns dancing on rainbows in roblox games and then getting older finding out that YOU MADE THAT LOL very insane to me. i love how you explain how you kickstarted your career by doing stuff that you liked that also worked and made money for you, but now that you had that success you can afford to completely focus on what you are passionate about. such a good story! i hope you know i love you and rob doing first of october, and i hope that that project is under the venn diagram portion that applies to what you are passionate about, same with sonic boom. those projects inspire me to just create something interesting even if i don't put a ton of time into it. you're the best! also just preordered, very excited!
you plug that book BB
Very wise words there! Tks!
i LOVE that it's an audiobook too!
As someone trying to be a creative and struggling with all kinds of things (ideas, growth, sense of belonging, burnout, etc) I can't explain enough how much I appreciate these looks behind the curtain and how much I look forward to your book. Thanks Andrew! :)
I’m glad it’s helpful! If that’s the place you’re coming from, I have definitely been there, and I do think the book will give you lots of ideas to think about and actions to take. Thanks for your support!
its weird how I can sit through 15 minutes of you just talking about stuff to the camera and feel like no time has passed, but I scroll past reels on the scale of seconds.
Guess that's trust
you're an inspiration to so many!
Cool! I immidiatley added this to my Audible subscription! I Can't wait to check it out!
i’m so excited for this book to come out
awesome that Andrew shows his thought process, i do still think that it doesn't really matter for achieving success tho, its like what was said at the end of the video, if it works for you then you should do it, simple, are several people i know who just do random stuff who are hugely successful, what i have learned trough experience is that the only factor that is needed is motivation, almost always you can achieve anything if you just got the motivation and love for it, when business side of things can be handy at times, it is not mandatory.
I love this I been trying be more organized with everything!
I'm currently thinking about starting to do video editing as a side hustle, and this video helps a lot. It's great to learn from someone working in the creative field, who's sharing what worked for them and putting things into perspective. Thank you Andrew!
Glad it could help!
I preordered the book! Hardcover
Thanks for these useful tips
Appreciate you Andrew Huang. Baller
Thanks for sharing, Andrew
And because you've decided to stay true to what you wanna do, I'm still around, and I feel like a lot of people are too. I feel that when you get tired is an indicator of a tired audience. People respond to authenticity, and I can't think of anything more engaging to me in this age of the internet than learning from your experience when you're in a state where you're thriving. All the best Andrew!
I'm a young producer from Colorado, im 17 and graduation is upon me. I've been really dreading the 9-5 lifestyle and I made it a goal for myself to not live to work, but to live to live. I'm definitely preordering this book and I'm really excited to see what I can learn from you since you've been kinda my producer / Artistic crutch supporuting what I do and giving me a reason to push on. Thank you Andrew your absolutely incredible, preordering now :)
Thank you so much for making this book and video. If we buy the physical and audiobook, do we get 2 entries to the giveaway?
You’d have to fill out the form twice with the different information but yes that would give you two entries :)
@@andrewhuang great! Same email and name but different order numbers! Hopefully that works! Appreciate the reply!
HUGE help, thanks Andrew!
voice teacher Melissa Cross talks about something really similar to this. if you are making art for any other reason other than because it's what you want (and more often need) to do, then you're doing it for all the wrong reasons.
That is a really interesting spin on the Ikigai concept. That venn diagram does feel like it's cousin. I would even add to those planning on following this advice to deeply think about each section and their overlaps. Maybe you want to be at all 4-overlap (pink petals) but one? Or wouldn't mind also being in one of those 3-overlap sections? And re-evaluate from time to time, like Andrew did.
Hey Andrew! I pre-ordered your book on Audible does that count for the giveaways and such? Thanks for doing what you do. I've been a quiet fan for quite a while.

Thanks, those BTS videos are very helpful.
