Good to hear there is no issue with heat management. 50/50 tires will be good to add as well. I ride my 900 SS hard offroad already, so changing tires will be important on this bike.
Beside Ducati Scrambler, this is one of the best looking scrambler. It has right amount of power and torque and other feature.. well made scrambler for me..!! Sadly i'm a short guy i can't even tip toe any scrambler.. 😅😅 i even tip toe on Expulse 200 standard version one.. 😅😅

The power and torque are amazing the front end can be pulled up without much effort in 1st 2nd and just a little bit in 3rd gear too Amazing bike for beginners.. terrifying for sure.. thrilling very much.. easy and fun - absolutely spot on!!
If an analog meter had to be given, why not give a tachometer as analog and speedo as digital. It would have still kept the classic look while giving accurate readings for speed. But.. it's a beautiful bike ❤

The handguards breaking easily is expected to be honest, almost all handguards that come standard on adventure bikes break almost immediately after the first fall even on higher end motorcycles like an Africa Twin, its a bit disappointing to see that they didn't include at least a folding shift lever Since they vouch that its a scrambler but if the shaft has the same number of splines as the street twin a CRF150 shift lever would fit.
Nice area to ride! Brush guards are silly., especially since they put the mirrors so high along with them.Taking those off mine and putting on bar end mirrors. This and playing around with the exhaust. Maybe V&H will make a dual muffler, and open it up.
Hello Strell, now that you have done 2000 kms on the RE Himalayan 450, if you were asked to pick one for your long term use/ownership which would you would choose, between Scram450X & Him450?
I just have only question does having the scrambler tag compromises on the overall fun factor of the bike as compared to speed 400. I’m really confused between these two. I want a bike which can do good both in Ladakh while also being fun in the city.

How are gear shifts? I test rode the bike at two places. Both the test bikes had very hard gear shifts, one of the bike was only ridden for 350 km and other was around 2200.
Consistent complaint about speed 400 was vibrations above 80kph. Its definitely not a great touring bike if its the same with this. You did mention vibrations.

No saddle stay above the exhaust is an issue. without using an shorter exh., it would be difficult to install saddle stay and might even cause weight imbalance

Go with either one, you won’t go wrong. Scrambler is an all rounder bike, I have one. The Honda CB350 is unparalleled in engine refinement and comfort cruising.

DEFINATELY adv 390X lol. adv 390 has been around for a while, its refined, it sounds great, the size is good for long distance riding meaniwhile 400x is the first gen i wouldnt personally trust it much.
For 90% road use, 400X is good. Quality equipment, lighter, smaller, and easier to ride. If you plan to ride longer off-road trails, or you need more luggage carrying capacity, consider Adv 390.
I see your question is a few months old now, so you probably already know that the Honda is about the same weight with half the power… Also, while the Honda isn’t ugly, the Triumph is really pretty! I know which one I would choose. Best wishes from London.

Didn’t like at all. Rode the bike. 1. Power delivery is too linear 2. Someone said there are vibrations post 100-110 koh. Forget it, its a hard work to take it to 100 kph 3. The exhaust sound is not as it is shown in reviews, its quite normal, trust me. 4. Pillion rider comfort is okayish.

RON or AKI. Regular pump fuel here in Sweden is 95 octane however that's in RON, in AKI (popular in USA etc.) That's ekvivalent to approximately 91-92 octane.

Ofcourse this is a good touring motorcycle. Upright riding position, good clearance, comfy seats ... and a lot more, which helps long-distance touring.
Hey man! As Honda has reduced the price of CB300r by 40k, and now it's almost at par with Speed 400. Now, Between CB300r and Speed 400 what's your pick? And why?
I would say be it spec wise , fit and finish or real world performance ,i would recommend speed 400 over Cb300r .Cb300r is an old product which is clearly showing its age and honda knows it too hence the price reduction. But i am advocate of test it before you buy it .Happy riding
If you're looking for refinement and a tried-and-tested engine, go for a Honda. If you want more power and the ability to carry a passenger on small tours, consider the Speed 400.

If you want to just stick to roads in ladakh and in general, don't bother with the scrambker. Esp if you're a solo.

Fine review! Bravo, sir. Would it be possible to put on spoked wheels on the bike compared to its alloy wheels to enable better off-road capabilities?
Of course we can do that. The challenge is to find a Tubeless spoke wheel set. Tubed tires sometimes give trouble.

120-140 above that the vibration gets started..but not that much top speed is 160. But 120 is the sweet spot

Dealer has confirmed that both speed and scrambler would have Bajaj speed and Bajaj scrambler in RC, there wont be any mention about Triumph.

For touring will need a taller wind screen ?!
It depends on the rider. I don't mind touring at a speed of 100kmph without visor. But with visor, it's a bit relaxing.

Not that big of a deal but yeah if you use 85 octane petrol then the engine will have a knocking probelm. 95 octane is good enough.

You can tour on any bike, even monkey bikes. The 400X with it's riding position will be ideal, add a rack and your good to go!

400x is comfortable for 120kmph cruising. 390 Adv goes even beyond that, like 140kmph
