  • The wife of Eighties singer Paul Young has tragically died at the age of 52 following a two-year battle with brain cancer. Stacey Young passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and children, her husband announced today (inset). Since 2016, the mother of four had been bravely fighting the disease out of the public eye with her partner by her side. She first met the Every Time You Go Away hit maker on the set of a music video in 1987 before the pair fell in love, married and started a family together. Posting to Twitter this afternoon, Paul paid tribute to his wife (pictured together, left) writing: 'Sadly Stacey has passed away today after a two year fight with brain cancer. She died peacefully at our home surrounded by family, friends and her four children: Levi, Layla, Grady and Jude (together, right).' Condolences poured in from across the music industry with the founding member of Spandau Ballet Steve Norman said he was shocked to hear the news and described Stacey as ‘such a character and so down to earth’. Comedian Julian Clarey added: ‘So sorry to hear that Stacey Young has passed away. She was so kind, funny and bright.’ The news comes just days after Labour peer Dame Tessa Jowell publicly revealed she was undergoing treatment for brain cancer.
