Liam it's great to see you getting stuck in and testing yourself on a different project. Mental health is the key to happiness so I'm glad you are aware and trying to address is 🙂 take care mate 🙂
I love the way you think, that rivet/hammerite combination is genius. Even when you are learning yourself, you are teaching us. The amount of value you provide is insane, so thank you.
Not really interested in boarding out a van , but thought I’d watch because I love the garden rooms, now , excuse the pun but I’m riveted, can’t wait for the next round, good luck Liam
One episode in and you are already doing stuff no one else does! You have no idea how valuable this content is to me. thank you for making the effort. Wish you all the best and looking forward to more. Then a Travelogue?
4 or 6mm fillets in in the furrows, fix with eco sealer, then beads of eco on the ridges, while both still wet fit 9mm marine ply floor (obviously cut to suit first).. screw along edges/joins into the ridges only, fill and sand over screws, glue lino down, etc.. 'really' no need for insulation, sound deadening etc as proven.. if it's good enough for new, 65-90k panel vans at one of the largest UK manufacturers where I work, it's good enough for a self build.!
Liam the holes are sealed filled nice idea mate like the way you have used the white hammarite paint as a sealer keep the videos coming enjoy watching them
Good tips Liam, neatly treated with hamerite. You could use some Rostoleum for the other rusty parts maybe and when I was done with whole the floor I used some tactyl for the underside by the new holes. Inside the ridges where the air gaps are for you insulation I used this spray on low expanding glue foam in a gun. Its polyurethane but also a glue and it fills the voids and bonds well to the PIR.
Loving this content mate, it's priceless this step by step journey, it's really appreciated Liam 👏 👍 You can plastic refurbishment agent fir plastics, it's like £2. Winder if that's better than sourcing new trim 🤷♂️ But imagine if you found the same van in a scrapyard and they let you grind out a slatt of the profile of the floor lol that way you could get your profile and knock it into the insulation board to get the exact profile 🤣 probably O.T.T 🤣 loving this though
In the gaps in between insulation and floor I used dodo thermo fleece (recycled plastic) first then lay everything on top of that and that will fill the gaps 👌🏻
Going to be an awesome build Liam, love your videos. I love camping and converted a land rover 110 once. But would love to do a van build. Finding the right layout is difficult though. Have you considered a happyjac bed mechanism? A really good functional bed that can be put away when not in use.
Hi Liam! Have you checked out Transporter HQ! They have recently done a VW Crafter and they have a good range of ideas. They also do the windows through Camper Glass. Keep up the great work, look forward to seeing what happens next 👍
The hole-filling method you came up with is commonly used in aerospace and called ‘wet-installing’. Sometimes a flexible sealant is used, sometimes just primer or paint. Either way it’s better than the epoxy… so imho you’re starting off well.
Nah then mate,, you might have already looked but, The Restoration Couple on UA-cam might be a decent help for you, he did a full conversion on a similar sized motor start to finish with boat loads of vids showing details. Nice little project this to keep ya mind off stuff, good luck with it mate
I like your idea for filling the holes with rivets. I can see one issue with your process though, you haven't prepared the vulnerable under side of the van from rust before installing the rivets. I would of prepared both the inside and under side, also use a rust treatment, before installing the rivets. Otherwise great content as usual.
Could do wi a new front door on your house Liam looking dated nice grey one would go cracking wit that cedar clad. Just kidding great content keep it up.
NO fence intended Liam, Should sell pretty quick Leeds prices are really good at the mo. Have you thought of moving to another town, total change might give you a bit of a reboot good for the mind. You can run your business from we’re you like. Get sold get moving!
Fantastic job can I make 1 suggestion bud could you number the videos as well as describing each one just so I can go back and look up anything I need to or if I miss one then I know the sequence. If it's a pain in d tits to do it no worries pal.
@@thegardenroomguru ya like episode 1, 2 etc. Cause this is gonna be my winter viewing so I just don't wanna miss anything if I'm explaining myself properly. You might go from the floor to the windows or maxi fan and there could have been something in between and I'd never know. When I get my own van this is gonna be a step by step tutorial brother.
Well done mate, good diversification on the channel. Wife is always banging on about van conversions so she is hooked too

Toolstation do a draper set that has all the larger star bits for the crafter. You’ll need it for all over the place.

Now this is exciting Liam thanks mate. Looking forward to seeing what comes next 👍👍👍👍
👏👏First step lots more to go, good luck👍👍
Good start! I can tell this is going to be a Van for life 🤣👍🏼
Really looking forward to watching this venture Liam 👍
Good editing aswell mate, love seeing the work speeded up. Don't stop doing that part lol
I would keep the spaces underneath the isolation as ventilation ducts. I've seen van builders doing the same thing and it does make sense (somewhere)
You cladding the outside with cedar? 😂
Hardie plank and box profile on the back doors surely!?
@@thepeginator2556 was thinking the back doors could be removed and install some nice bifold doors

I see people use wood batten on the floor and put insulation to fit is that really needed ?

Try Armaflex rubber sheeting for the insulation, it comes in sticky back too.
Thanks for sharing, love your content

For the floor, would spraying it with foam work? Pretty permanent but effective id say
Watching that was riveting.

The reason for is the rust can travel underneath the paint, on the underside of the van floor.
Is that a cold/warm or hybrid floor
🤫 shhhh, don’t tell Steve
Are you going to treat the other side of the floor?
the underside is sprayed with a coating, in m y mind ive done as much as I can
