- From what I see DODO mat is the go to sound deadening mat.
Its easy to apply, although you defiantly need a dry base to apply to😅 as I found out.
A cheap heat gun works wonders if its a little cold and definitely works on helping the adhesion.
Ive used two rolls so far and decided im going to buy another two as I want some on the floor to help with the noise and also help with the grooves in the floor when I come to insulate it.
A strange feeling getting the news the Queen has passed whilst doing a video.
Thoughts are with the family as I know only too well the pain of losing a parent.
God save the King
Hey Liam hope you are doing okay, I know you are going through a hard time but something to look forward to with the van tour, that will be awesome, please make a good job of the van because I want to win this after you have done with it 👍
Hi, I’m going to put my everything into it mate, fit back glass today and all good! Not quite sure of the reaction on here, but there’s only so many ways I can build a room, seems like a good idea to broaden my scope, but some comments are not agreeing. So hard to gauge response. It’ll be awesome either way
Impeccable turnaround from recording to uploading! Editing a vid isn’t quick or easy, yet here it is uploaded not even 24 hours after recording, hats off to you sir!
Looking forward to take the ride with you on this project Liam. The passing of the Queen was somewhat expected but also has the shock element. I thought it was great that you acknowledged it in the video. What a fantastic job she has done for this country.
Good info so far, you could make a business of this 😁. Yes the news of the queen passing still came as a shock she is such an icon
Hello Liam, good luck and thanks for all that you do. I can see you doubling up with Guy Martin and putting a Spitfire engine in it! Now that would make great viewing.
Completing a garden room thanks to you Liam. Solo build aged 71 with a broken hand and could not have progressed without your build pack and videos. Don't burn out and look after yourself. Best wishes.
That would make a video 🤣
@@thegardenroomguru It's got to happen. Would be the best thing on the box and a sure fire hit. Go do it LIam!
This is going to be a mint build! Respect
Good afternoon Liam and your team I love your videos
Loving this van build series 👍
Hi Liam, I love all your videos. Warts and all install/builds are just great fun to watch and learn. One small niggle would be your sound levels seem a little low to me. I have my setup on maximum and you are not what I consider loud. Thanks and keep it up, especially Candlelighters.
I'm liking the journey so far. Just in case you haven't seen the crater and sprinter van vids where they show how to seal the side trims it's worth watching. Some have stickers covering the holes too. Not the greatest design. also take that plastic floor peice off by the sliding side door as the tiny drain hole gets clogged easily and can rust. 👍😊 Good luck
Have a great birthday this weekend Liam. Enjoy. Love the videos
Thank you mate 🙂
Greg Virgo mate great help for you
Good little build well done Liam
Keep er lit Brother.... Hey Liam you are missing a trick, So you can`t put the windows in when it`s raining........ Build yourself a giant Summer house, Big enough for Your van, Now where have i seen Garden Houses before hmmm lol
Fair play to you. I’ll be watching to pick up some tips. Good luck with the build. Subscribed 👍
check out wills whereabouts, he did a conversion without any experience. his finshed product is bang on. great video liam, loving this.
Your ring doorbell notifications keep making my dog jump up to our front window lol
Lol ditto,
🤣
Sound deadening yes, I wonder what you will use?
Dynomat is normally the way to go so let's see 👍
Nice job Liam well done
Nice job. ❤️
If your planing to camp in cold climates, l think l would look at putting in a single room heat recovery unit if nothing else to minimise condensation. 🤔
You look super stressed out!! Keep the build videos coming
The insulation makes the van hotter but quieter.
You can use flashing tape like the bostik flash band, will cost you a lot less and be just as effective. If you really want isolate the noise you need to leave a gap between the metal and the inside skin of your modification, the air gap works then like a spring and is as effective as mass, however 30 40% IMO is rubbish do the whole thing!!!!! Use a roller to leave no air gaps between the metal and the tape etc, the shapes bubbles etc
What happened to the rest of the conversion just about to start mine now and get some useful tips from the master himself
From the thumbnail I thought you have made it into space!
I would advise against a vapour barrier, water will find a way through either from the outside through trim clips etc or carried through gaps in warm air. It doesn't matter how good a job you do it finds a way in.
Then it's trapped there.
Iv been doing van conversions for a very long time and always create a breathable MakeUp.
You can even add vents from bottom to the top of your walls.
Very sound advice, totally agree that no matter how good the job is, water will always win in the end,
Let me research this, completely new to this, thanks for the heads up
I put a vapour barrier on but soon realised how hard it was to keep it fully sealed whilst doing the rest of the build. Any gap, rip or hole negates the barrier, so pointless doing it really.
agreed, you need them little vents in the roof really
you will need a fan/skylight to keep down the condensation, cut the holes before sound deadening or insulation.
Ordered 🫡 and no dodo fitted in fan location, I’m also thinking I need roof rack and awning fitting before insulation 🧐
you can use stick on flashingtape as sound deadening if you got any handy
loads of people have mentioned this. a hell of a lot cheaper too
Hi Liam, could I find out how Dodo mat deadienng you needed to do your van mate. Great videos
Could you put your campervan build as a play list, to differentiate from your normal content, thanks
Liam ……. Why don’t you leave some dehumidifiers in the van to help collect the condensation?
Griffin, are we going on a European Road trip ? 😂😂😂 . I'm not going back to Rhodes though 😂😂😂😂
🤣
Dodomat is simply the best but be careful of the finished weight of the van. Only doing 40% with the sound deadening would have saved valuable kg's.
I’m thinking I’ll be getting the springs adjusted to carry more load
Yeah, obviously the van will be 3.5t gvw now but I think it's easy enough to up plate to something like 4.2t, don't quote me on that figure though. Lol. If you want to have a nosey around my van, you're more than welcome. I'm around the Wakefield area this weekend.
Thanks, as I say, I know nothing 🫣🤣
Off away this weekend, it’s my 50th 🥳 thanks though
I just bought a VW Crafter, I hope to convert the Van myself, NOT the electric or plumbing, but just about everything else, can you tell me about the bed frame that you have in the van during the video????. Please
Hi Liam, I think you mentioned at one point about the void that would be underneath the celotex on the floor being a problem, have you thought about putting 30 strips of dodo mat to take up the void and also adding sound deadening to the floor? Just a thought
did very similar 🫡
Just wondering mate how many rolls of the sound proofing and insulation you had used as I’m doing a lwb crafter
Great vid. I built a garden room from your videos which were brilliant. So thank you, and I'll return the favour with something to sort you out... Read the Bible
Garden rooms much better than van conversion into camper as this been done a million times already
alright, chill out
Your right Paul, but alot of people like to watch Liam and would no doubt watch whatever he put out. Liam is good at what he does, I bet this build will be 10x better than most on UA-cam and the videos will be a lot more informative too.
Pointless comment
Who is going to be looking after your business whilst you are traveling Europe?
I’ll cross that bridge when i come to it 👌
