- Do you still listen to the Sex Pistols? Me too! I never get tired of their fantastic songs, whether it's live recordings or their classic album Never Mind the Bollocks.
Watch this short video to see my collection and see what you may, or may not, already have in your collection. Long live the Sex Pistols!
#sexpistols, #johnnyrotten, #sidvicious, #paulcook , #glenmatlock , #johnlydon , #stevejones, #nevermindthebollocks, #davegoodman, #sexpistolsrecords,
The way this lady pronounces 'bollocks' is simply marvellous!!
I know I get it wrong here but I'm trying to improve! We don't use that word in America, so I have to practice. Thanks for watching!
@@WhyNotGoPlaces Don't change a thing ma'am - it's perfect as it is! It's all bollocks anyway as we say over here :-)
Thanks! I got some flack when this video came out because of my pronunciation of it. I probably can't improve anyway.:)
@@WhyNotGoPlaces just remember when the word bollox rolls off the tongue just put a little bit of anger behind it , one of my faves it is . From a old London boy 😁
Liar and Problems in that order for me. From the most iconic albums ever produced. Lovely.
I love those 2 songs too. I think New York is one of my all time favorites. The guitar is so heavy. Thanks for watching!
Bodies & no feelings were my favourite and still are, still want to jump up and down hearing them at 54.
Me too at 66! Bodies is so heavy on guitar. One of my favorites. Thanks for watching!
Agreed. I read somewhere that 'Bodies' was a 'pro-hardcore' song. I understand what was meant, but that's probably a very real stretch. 'Belsen' is also right alongside it, too
Superbe chaine,du contenu tres intéressant 🎸merci pour vos partages 👍
The greatest band of all time for me,.😊
By far!!
Agreed! Thanks for watching and subscribing.
@@WhyNotGoPlaces it was really good to find you! Your knowledge of the London 76 punk time is right up to date. I can't stand folks who say that punk first happened in the US. No way. Johnny Rotten was one individual with a face (though he thought he was dead ugly! Fuck . he's beautiful!) and a whopping big brain who could put words together in a second and outrage the whole of England! 🇦🇽😢😆😴♥️
You know your pistols kung foo ! For this reason I shall subscribe to your channel
@@charlie421 ha oh no. You'll hate my videos. They are very silly but I really love doing them and like my audience for watching 😘😝
Thank you for keeping the legend alive!!
"The Mini Album"!!!
I met Dave Goodman several times, and heard the Spunk tapes before they were released. Dave worked with the punk band Eater. I knew members of Eater as school friends. Throught Dave Goodman Brian Chevette , guitarist with Eater bought Steve Jones original Les Paul guitar. It was auctiined at Christies in 2010 for £16,000. Dave Goodman died in 2005.
Wow, that's so interesting. I remember Eater very well. I bought their first single. They were very young. That's too bad that he sold the guitar from Steve Jones. Thanks for the info!
Nice story bud 👍
So many great songs, but for me one of their very finest was Did You No Wrong!
Fantastic lyrics & sliding chords etc!
I love that song too. And I learned they did that one at their first gig Nov. 6 1975. I think it was the only original song they did that night. They were great song writers from day one!
It was written by Wally Nightingale.
@@leefr76 - Who’s Wally? I thought it was originally penned by Paul Cook & lyrically adjusted by John? 🤔
@@robk3596Wally Nightingale was in The Swankers with Jones and Cook, it was one of that bands original songs. Lydron amended some of the lyrics. Great song though, one of my favourites.
@@leefr76 - Thanks & very much agreed! 👍
I remember all the bootleg records that came out in the 80s, a lot from Dave Goodman. I have a bunch of them.
Yes, Dave Goodman must have an amazing amount of live recordings. Thanks for watching!
A very impressive Sex Pistols collection, just awesome. Spunk definitely sounds more raw
The mini album is demos dave work as a p.A for the band, he did all the sound at gigs and did many demos with them, check 1976-1977 all pistols demos which sound amazing, 8 previously unreleased tracks, and the rest are mixed at different, extra banter as well between songs.
My all time favourite album is definitely never mind the bollocks but I loved the album the great rock n roll swindle
Wow, you've got a great collection there. I love the Pistols too but only have Never Mind The Bollocks..., The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle, Flogging A Dead Horse and Kiss This.
Any collection is great in my opinion. Mine is probably small compared to many out there. Even if you just have NMTB, that's all you need! Thanks for watching and subscribing.:)
I just simply dismiss Great RnR Swindle because it is a McLaren doing and the band's demise time. Not a fan whatsoever.
How I despise him.
When he died, he left nothing to his only son. Son never did anything wrong to his father. Miser, band wrecker, wife beater. Yep. He used to hit Vivienne Westwood and keep her inside if she wanted to go out. Among other things. Narcissist, sadist, taking credit for Johnny's work. True folks 😮
Hello!, my name is Samuel and I love the Sex Pistols too. I loved your collection, you probably know the Pistols concert at Shelmford Prison in 76, I got it on cassette at the end of the 90s and I still have it, I would like you to talk about what information you know about that Pistols concert. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
I have to get that live record! I don't have it but a few people here have also recommended it. I love the fact you bought it on cassette. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Another good video! You’re good at this…thank you!
Thank you so much! I'm a shy person so it's not always easy for me to be on camera. I'm trying my best.:)
Just found your channel and already love it. I was 16 at the start of the Punk explosion and got to see so many bands play in the UK, including Iggy, The Runaways, Johnny Thunders, The Ramones and so many more. Keep up the great work on your channel.
Thanks so much! If you haven't already, please subscribe for more. You were at a good age in 1977. Old enough to catch some great shows.
It's amazing that the Never mind LP still holds up. It still sounds fresh and exciting after all these years. By the way, I'm trying to figure out why you look so familiar. I think we've met before or we used to hang out in the same circles back in the day. Does the name Jeff Chandler sound familiar? We played in a band together, scarecrows. He used to hang out at the mask back in the day.
Thanks for watching again! I don't recall the band, but the name Jeff Chandler sounds familiar. That's a great name for a punk band. I used to have a fanzine in 1977 called Blank Generation and we interviewed The Dils - I remember that local band very well. I remember seeing X at The Masque - I liked them a lot. Also saw The Germs there too. I wish I took photos or had video back then!
Nice collection there lady
Thank you! It's not that big, but I love it.
Having just seen the sex pistols again at Bush hall and I have posted a couple of videos in UA-cam 😉discovered your UA-cam posts which are brilliant 🌟 You must listen to the bootleg live at Mr George’s , Coventry when the sex pistols played there in December 1977 , although the quality of the recording is poor the atmosphere of the fans in my hometown is brilliant 🎵best wishes Trev 👍
Thanks Trev! Thanks for watching my videos. I will look up that record. If you see my first Sex Pistols video, where I followed them on tour in Jan.1978, I mention that I had an opportunity to see them as The Spots in Aug. 1977 in Wolverhampton, and I didn't go because it would have upset my mother. What a mistake! Their gigs in 1977 were very few. I bet the one in Coventry is great.
@@WhyNotGoPlaces have a look at my bush hall UA-cam videos, it’s in the crowd so captures the atmosphere better than the close up ones I’ve seen on UA-cam 🎵🎵
I agree with johns vocals on the spunk the sound nice and raw which I prefer
Awesome collection!!
He sounds so different, but amazing, great versions, of pretty vacant and many more.
I don't know if I'm being too critical, but I do like the raw vocals better. Something I didn't mention in the video, I went at least a decade without playing their music, around the 80's, because I was too upset that they broke up. I would get depressed when I put their music on because I knew they weren't getting back together. Glad I can enjoy them now!
@@WhyNotGoPlaces yeah I can understand that it would be so hard to listen without getting emotional.
Like I prefer johnnys vocals on the anarchy single opposed to the bollocks version . Keep up the great content!
Rotten's vocal was changing during the sex pistols time. You will notice that when listen to the early gigs from 1976 and late USA tour gigsfrom 1978.
Live at Chelmsford top security prison is probably my favorite, johns little comments are so cutting and direct, love your collection ❤
Thanks for watching and subscribing! I have heard that's a fantastic gig. So famous too. I will look that one up on Ebay. Thanks for the suggestion. My collection is rather small but I love it.
Chelmsford is fake
@@WhyNotGoPlaces honestly I’ve never seen most of your pistol records it’s awesome, my only little bragging right is I have a signed copy of PIL album by terry jones who designed the logo I meet him a few years back
Great video thanks. Here in the UK bollocks was released with the yellow cover. Myself, I bought the pink US version. Mainly because the tracks were in a different order. All the better for it I felt. Also, prefer the spunk album. There is quite a few CDs, box sets available, of studio and live material. I only have Burton gig on cd. Remember being at the famous ROCK ON record stall the day Holidays in the sun was released. When Paul Cook turned up with a bunch of picture sleeves. Managed to get one. Should have got it signed!!! Never managed to see them live. Even though I was 19 living in London as a student, at the time.
The early B-sides - "Satellite", "Wanna Be Me" - both have a feeling or sense of what the band could have been. Both have something of a Dickensian feel - Not sure what I really mean here, but they sound more seventies. Beyond these, I agree with you, the SPUNK recording far outweighs the Bollocks album, which, essentially, is a regular rock album with the addition of having two or three of the best RnR songs of all time. x
I always loved the song Satellite. Thanks for watching and thanks for your input.:)
Well, Johnny was a bit vaudeville
What's crazy is I was in Jr high in 1976 in Monroe LA, kiss, aerosmith, and nazereth were my bands, I never even got to hear the sea pistols till 2003, I downloaded never mind the bollocks 2023 love all the songs on it, they did go backorder his vocals and Steve's guitar is a lot fatter!
It's never too late to hear NMTB! Yes, Steve's guitar is a lot fuller that's for sure. Thanks for watching and subscribing.:)
I liked Anarchy in the UK on the Spunk album. It sounds really raw. If that version were to be remastered and cleaned up, it would probably be better than the one on Never Mind the Bollocks.
I was only 11 when the Sex Pistols came out and didn't hear of them until 1986 when I discovered Punk and Alternative.
A lot of your albums look like boot legs. Very cool covers.
My favorite songs are Anarchy in the UK, and I'm not your stepping stone.
I want to go back to your other videos bc it sounds like you have a lot of stories and met some great musicians.
Good observation!. If the Anarchy on Spunk could be cleaned up it would be a superior version in my opinion. I love Stepping Stone too. If you love the Pistols you'll love by Sex Pistols on Tour Video. Thanks for watching! Please subscribe for more.
Great stuff. I have the Some Products album. Its got commercials and radio interviews with Steve and Paul from the American tour.
That's my favourite one
Never Mind the Bollocks is a given... I'm envious of your Vinyl NMTB album. Subbed...
Thanks for watching and subscribing! Is my vinyl NMTB album rare? I didn't think so but I'm not an expert at all.
@@WhyNotGoPlaces I suppose the rarity would be down to what the number was when first printed etc minor details or even flaws in the packaging that is not found on other pressings... My copy went on an involuntary walk about some decades ago, I was 13 years old in 1979, and the pistols had already disbanded. The album itself is perfect...they didn't ever need to record another album or have done things differently in their career; the slightest deviation from the course they were on may have been catastrophic for their legacy...we are still here talking about the pistols and listening to their music. The reason I'm envious is that you have an original copy and I don't. Keep up the great channel, you have taken to it like a duck to water...
Excellent video. Love to hear your impressions on the Pistols. Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Great video again . There was an album called Pirates of Destiny too. I think some of the first prints of Bollox had 11 tracks and Submission as a single was inserted with no b-side on it
Thanks for the info! I'll look that one up. Never heard of it.
I LOVE NMTB album. My band covered Pretty Vacant and Submission back in the day. The first one I played and probably still my favorite is God Save The Queen. I read about them in a High Times mag, went to my local record store (Cincinnati, Ohio) and bought it and Rockets to Russia (The Ramones). I was a Southern Rock fan at the time. First listen to GSTQueen blew me away! Loved it. Me and my southern rock drummer found and joined a punk rock band up near the U of Cincinnati. A guy from Youngstown Ohio came to college. He was the first real "punk rocker" I met.
God Save the Queen is a fantastic song. The guitar is amazing. I remember High Times Magazine. I first heard about the Sex Pistols in Rock Scene magazine, and also Creem. I love hearing about how people were first turned on to punk rock. For me, if it wasn't for the rock mags, I would never have known what was going on in music. My older siblings never even went to a concert or bought any records at all. I was kind of a freak in my house. Thanks again for watching my video!
Great video again and your passion. Love the spunk album my favourite pistols record . Burton on Trent one of the biggest beer brewing town in England 40 minutes from me . Love that live album
Thanks for watching! I understand I incorrectly said that town was "outside of London." Several people have corrected me. I guess it's way up north. Nice to hear you like that live album too!
Keep doing your brilliant videos really interesting and the passion that goes into them . Have you got any PIL vinyl . I’ve got a good collection and the metal box is an amazing set and worth a few English pounds even tho the tin is rusty but I wouldn’t sell as you said about your pistols collection
Thank you for your videos. I have found them really interesting and I like your relaxed presenting style. BTW Burton is a small town in Staffordshire (midlands area). Keep up the Good Work.
Thanks for watching and subscribing. Yes, a few people have reminded me of that. Sorry! I didn't realize it was that far north. I have been to Nottingham, but never to Burton on Trent. Thanks again!

Burton on trent in 2 hours away from where i live it's staffordshire, i live in leicestershire, dave did many demos and great live recordings.also ann sid,s mum lived in swadlincote this place is next town to burton on trent.
A nice review i have all the British released singles and Bollocks lp and picture dusk lp.
Rarely listen to never mind the bollocks these days, but when a track is played on the radio,it still excites me as much as when I was 15 like no other band can do.
I just played it yesterday. It's good to play in the morning. I have a bounce in my step all day!
My favorite is Live At Burton Upon Trent on Cassette. I first heard it when I shoplifted it from a used book store in the DFW metroplex in 1987 when I was 13. It sounded horrible then, and I was so jealous of my friend for getting a copy of Bollocks. But these days, I love hearing that live album.
Oh wow, I just got to the part where you talk about Burton on Trent ❤
My favorite too! How funny that you shoplifted it back in 1987! I love that story. I'm the same. I play the live recordings more often than NMTB, but I go through phases. One thing I didn't mention in the video was that I went at least 10 years, around the 80s, of not playing their music at all. I would just get depressed because I was so sad they broke up. Thanks again for watching!
I love your review and your perspective of the Sex Pistols and all your stories, you are so lucky to have followed them and all the great memories that you have. BTW: I was about 17 when they came to Atlanta and I can't believe that missed them, I have some friends that were there. Oh well!
Most people missed them, so I wouldn't kick yourself. I was in Atlanta about 2 years ago to see Peter Hook and a guy in front of me said he saw The Pistols when they came to town in Jan. 1978. I was so surprised! I wonder if the venue is still there. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
The live re-union album from the 90's is my favorite live album from the Sex Pistols.. My favorite punk live album is The Ramones It's Alive from New Years '76 '77.. Or was it '77 '78? The live version of Surfin' Bird is awesome. Joey's vocals are awesome on that track..
Thanks for watching and subscribing. I'll have to look into that live 90s album, and the Ramones album. I did the Sex Pistols play in Finsbury Park in 1996 and I remember it was a great show.

one of my favorite songs is "did you no wrong" which wasn't on the bollocks album. great version on their live dvd from Brixton Academy
That's one of my favorite songs too. I never understood why it wasn't on the album. I have seen video of the Brixton Academy shows. Bet they were great.
The song was written by Wally Nightingale in The Swankers so probably didn’t want to pay him royalties.
'New York' and 'Problems' were the ones with the requisite dash of darkness for me - and I find that alternating between NMTB and the 'Spunk' album keeps the material fresh and piquant. Excellent channel!
Thanks for again for watching. I think New York is one of my all-time favorite songs they did.
@@WhyNotGoPlacesIt's very arch and pointed - waapish, even - and I think they intended to make a definitive break with US punk origins and establish a British aesthetic. The scathing use of the term 'Sambo' is interesting - if my interpretation holds water, they were highlighting the unspoken racism of the metropolitan 'hipater' scene - and remarkably ahead of the curve. The Antz attempted something similar with lines like 'Gonna light up a beacon on a Puerto Rican', which needed to be clarified as anti-racist irony, at a time when punk could have gone 'either way', politically....
WoW...great video, great collection you showed there. I've just come across the video and your channel and I've liked and subscribed.
Burton on Trent is north of London between Birmingham & Derby.
I've got a few SEX PISTOLS albums and 7" singles, nothing major but I enjoy them and punk music in general.

I would love to get an original of it. I had a very early copy from like 1980, which was actually not that early consider. It came out three years earlier .lol, but I would like to get it again one day
Check out as well 1976-1977 chris spedding did first session with them, chris had a hit record with motorbikeing track in the uk. He thought they were very good musicians, and said he felt the press had got them very wrong, the band had only been together for six moths at the time, they were a for 2 years, and then did reuion tours from 1996 then 2002, 2007, 2008.

@@WhyNotGoPlaces Bowery and Bleecker Manhattan NYC
Hola. They made one album Never Mind The Bollocks and four singles officially. Spunk is some of the early demos made for NMTB. This was followed by The Great Rock n Roll Swindle, promoted as Sex Pistols at the time but was a collection of demos, covers and different takes for the film. My Way being the stand out. Sid Sings was a collection of live material taken from his shows in NYC. Except Chinese Rocks which is the Sex Pistols with Sid on vocals doing a sound check at the last UK show at Ivanhoes. Johnny Thunders never played with Sid. Steve Dior played guitar with him in NYC. Mick Jones also played at one show. Some Product is a collection of interviews. Flogging a Dead Horse is a dodgy collection of some of the singles. Hope this helps🤠.
Thank you! I stand corrected on Johnny Thunders. I thought he hopped onstage with Sid in NYC. I guess I saw pics of them together and got confused. Thanks for watching and subscribing.
The cd set they brought out around early 2000s...had out takes n stuff on it...that was a good one .had everything they done on it I think

@@WhyNotGoPlaces subscribed after watching your favourite pistols album. I was meant to see them in West London in 77. I have some of those and I have some others. It is surprising how many Sex Pistols albums I have. I’m curious, fid you get to see the Germs.
I did see them in L.A. a few times. Darby Crash was an entertaining singer and I liked the other members too, like Don Bolles. I once went to The Roxy to be filmed as an audience member for Cheech and Chongs movie "Up In Smoke. And The Germs were the band onstage! I guess their part got cut out of the movie, which is a shame. Maybe I'll do a video on that someday. It was a fun experience. I remember him smearing peanut butter all over himself.:)
@@WhyNotGoPlaces I regret not seeing the Germs.
Spunk has Matlock on bass, Bollocks has Steve Jones doing the bass. It's a massive difference. Both valid.
I can`t tell the difference,but then again I`m not a muso lol...Both fantastic
Matlock is more busier on his bass run fills. I prefer Steve's more solid power bass playing.@@mjh5437

I live in Nova Scotia, and in the mid 80's my dad had a conference in Charlottle, NC. We drove there and I remember buying (as a 14 yr old), Some Product (a bunch of radio interviews - mainly from the US tour), and Flogging (1st side had B-sides which are great). I also picked up Changes One by Bowie which was a great introduction to him, although I already had Let's Dance.
Love the stories - keep 'em coming. Did you go to PiL's Dec '78 London shows? Thoughts on the Damned, Buzzcocks, Siouxsie?
I did go to the first PIL shows in London because I was living there at the time. I went to the Boxing Day show, which was the 2nd concert. Dec. 1978. I was blown away by his new music. Especially the song Religion. I also loved the Damned and Siouxsie. I'm so glad they're still touring. The Buzzcocks I liked too. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Burton on Trente is north of Birmingham. Nowehere near London.
Name of album is not Never mind the "bullocks".
Lol!+
Yes, I've been told Americans mispronounce it. Thanks for watching!
My sister saw them in 1976 at Bogarts, small club in Birmingham before they became famous. She said they were awful. @@WhyNotGoPlaces
The very best of the sex pistols is a studio collection, some product is a interview album, in england flogging a,dead horse means going nowere idea. The anarchy one is demo recording of the song.
Spunk came out nov 1977, white copy is worth big bucks.
Have u hear the pistols gig's in sweden 19\7\77?it's on line from 2 months..fantastic
No I haven't. Thanks for the info! I'll look it up.
👍👍👍
I'm gonna have to get that spunk record
It's a great record if you like a raw sound.
Have you seen where Johnny rotten is doing a us tour. Im not sure if he is gonna be performing or if its a meet and greet but hes coming to the tower theater in oklahoma city in october, im going for sure will post more info as i recieve it
Wow you got some rare stuff 😊
Love the stories you tell about your experiences in and around the beginning of the UK punk scene in the mid 70's it must have been awsome to have been there with the pistols. But maybe any Americans here can tell me why can you never pronounce 'bollocks' properly ? You always pronounce it bullocks as in a young bull. It has always been a pet peeve of mine that Americans can never pronounce that word properly. Anyway keep up the great stories, they're so fascinating.
Maybe because it's not a word we use here that we get it wrong. I do mention it in my next video and I try to pronounce it correctly. Sorry! Thanks for watching and subscribing.
No need to apologise, you'll get it right eventually, 😉 lol.
The main pic of love kill Lp is token after the brunel university gig nov 77 or dec 77
Never mind the bollocks was release in oct 28th 1977 i think ?
Yes, that's correct. I just looked it up. I knew it was late 1977.
👍
NMTB,and SPUNK are my faves. Anything live is just amazing.
Couldn't agree more! Anything live is amazing. Thanks for watching.
I'm glad you have a copy of SPUNK Maggie, it's my go to album. The recordings are with Glen playing bass and his lines really come through on the tracks. NMTB is too highly polished and without Glen. Don't skip over TGRnR Swindle as there are some classic early covers on that album. Some tracks on this album are also just Cook and Jones compositions. My collection keeps growing with coloured vinyl repressing. You have an awesome collection. Try to get your hands on the 4CD set 76-77 which is packed full of studio sessions.
Thanks for the info! I used to have Swindle, but lost it somehow. I'll have to re-buy. You must have a great collection. Thanks again!
I still got indecent exposure on vinyl and last gig in us white label but all been released years later on various formats. Indecent exposure way superior compared to the US gig only because by then they became a cartoon band
I don't have that record. I'll look for it. Thanks for watching!
I’ll just say I’m so pretty oh so pretty VACANT!
That’s why I subscribed
Thank you!
@@WhyNotGoPlacesThank you too. I get a lot of puzzled looks when I tell people they are the greatest rock band ever😎
Paul Cook and family lived nearby. Nice guy and in later years he rewired our house!
How tall is paul cook? Is he about 5 foot 9?
Thanks for watching! Did Paul Cook become an electrician? I always thought he seemed very nice. He was super friendly when I met him on the American tour.
@@WhyNotGoPlaces he was one before the sex pistols became famous, he quit sept 1976.
I always thought Paul worked for Wayne's Brewery , 🌿
The original bootleg of burton of trent's gig is Indecent esposure, then exit in 1986 in vinyl
I doubt you’re still checking comments on this one but just in case. I worked at Licorice Pizza on North Lake Ave. in Pasadena back in 1978. I think it was there that I bought my UK import copy (yellow cover) of NMTBHTSP. (You may remember JEMS, the record distributor in New Jersey that slapped their stickers on many imports back in the day.). Anyway, my version is a special one with a catalogue number called “SPOTS 001”. It came with “Submission” on a free one-sided 7” single (not mentioned on the main album sleeve), and a giant poster - which is fantastic.
It also came with a sticker (in various colors) on the shrink wrap that said “UK PRESSING includes one-sided single & Pistols poster” with a small Virgin logo underneath and “SPOTS 001” in the bottom left corner. Well me being the bright person I am, knowing what was inside I tossed the shrink wrap and the sticker - thus unknowingly lowering the future value by several hundred dollars! 😢
Wow, that sounds like a rare record! I got the pink, US version. I used to go to Licorice Pizza in Downey all the time. That's where I am from. I wouldn't kick yourself too much because it sounds like this record is still worth a lot. I'm sure you kept the poster. I never knew the album came with a poster. That's fantastic.
Thanks for watching!
