Top Reasons to Buy or Build a .300 BLK rifle

- Over the past decade, .300 Blackout underwent a transformation from a cartridge without much of an identity and into a major contender in the shooting world. Many of the early criticisms, though, were ones that came with youth. Only rumblings existed about performance and few ammo makers manufactured the round. Its rareness and high price point also made it difficult to test. With time, however, those concerns have been alleviated.
The .300 Blackout was originally designed by Advanced Armament Corporation to mimic the ballistics performance of 7.62x39mm, the common chambering of an AK rifle, but function in standard AR rifles. The thinking was there’d be minimal differences between firing the standard 5.56mm and.300 Blackout. In essence, shooters would only need to make a few adjustments to recalibrate their rifles.
The initial proposal piqued the interests of a lot of shooters and where there’s a will there’s a way. Since those early days, the .300 Blackout has been proven in a variety of areas and through much debate its exact purpose has been narrowed to a number of options.
For suppressor shooters, owning a .300 Blackout rifle is almost a necessity. The round suppresses really, really well. After all, it was somewhat part of its origin story. With a subsonic 200+ grain bullet you can achieve a very low decibel through a silencer and still have a relatively effective round on soft tissue.
That leads to my next point. While 5.56mm (or .223 Rem.) is sometimes thought of as too small to humanely harvest deer, the .300 Blackout isn’t. Typically, these rounds range between 110 to 180 grains moving at speeds in the ballpark of 2,300 FPS.
Then, there’s size. Not of the round, but of the weapon. The .300 Blackout is effective with a short barrel, so the carbine can be very compact. Compared to the standard 5.56mm ball round, the .300 Blackout has more power and range with a shorter barrel.
Lastly, there’s availability. It is now way more feasible to find and stockpile .300 Blackout. In the early years of .300 Blackout, the availability was spotty and the cost per round was anywhere from $1.50 to $2. Since the round has been more commonly accepted, a variety of manufacturers have started to produce it. This has driven the price down and increased availability. - Розваги

Im getting a 300 blackout upper to add to my 5.56 pistol accessories. I enjoy the 5.56 and 223 for cost. The 300 blackout is over a dollar a round but will make a nice accessory to add to my AR . It seems louder too
I sure wish I'd gotten on the 300BO train years ago. Being a bit slow-witted, I thought it would pass as a 'novelty' cartridge and we'd be on to the next iteration of the "perfect AR cartridge". But better late than NEVER!!! I love the 300BO in the AR platform, especially for a home defense/truck gun. What could be better in that role than a 7.5 pistol with a 30 rd mag of 150 gr ballistic tipped freedom seeds @ 17-1800fps?!?!? Or a suppressed 1000fps/220gr love tap???

My AR in 762x39 suits me and the ammo was/is available reasonably priced I might add. Like the idea of 300, but really I can’t justify.
What’s the best general purpose buffer weight to use on say a 10.5 300 blackout? Whether it’s suppressed or not, super or sub sonic.
I have a Ruger SR556 Takedown with an extra .300 BLK bbl. A very versatile rifle.
Or you could get a 12.5” 6.5 Grendel.... and have more energy than a 20” 5.56 & short enough package for anything up close. Not 8.5-10.5” short, but for the extra energy I’ll take it. As presently debating between a m4e1 with 10.3” dd .300 bo or 12.5” 6.5 Grendel and while each has their strengths for my 6.5 g is what I’m leaning towards.
Get yourself a serviceable can. I can cast bullets and load supers or subs for the 300 blk at 4¢ a round. Nice vox s cameo.

Another good reason to have a 300 blackout is you will have a little bit more money, since you will need to pick up a second job to be able to afford to shoot it.
For a short barrel like they are showing for CQB...I would use a 7.62x39...doesnt have to be a tac driver and it's cheap to shoot.
.300 blackout is not expensive to shoot at all, maybe you need a better job?
@@diesfastest6667 you're right, it's only half the cost of shooting a 30-06 and 2x as expensive as 7.62x39. Unless you shoot suppressed all the time, 300 blk out serves no purpose.

I built my 300BLK just because I don't like how 5.56 preforms in a short barrel
Anyone who likes 300BLK is ok by me - you got another sub.

I reload all my 300 BO rounds. Very easy and a good place to pick up cases/boolits is Sages Reloading. Small rifle primer and H110 and you are gtg
Got mine down to around 15-20 cents of course i cast my own 230 grain mini missles i even plate them myself very cost effective if you have the equipment to do so

So I'm going to need a parts list for those featured in the video, can & chest rig too.
I just finished 2 300blkout pistol builds..literally 5 minutes ago. Also have Remington 700 sps in 3b, it's bb gun quiet and will drop a dear within 150 yards with subs and I mean drop as long as your aiming in the right place. I plan on using 1 of the builds for home defense and other bugout. It's easy to strap a regular AR upper to my go back so now I have stealth and reach if shtf. What was that set up with folding stock? That’s what I’m looking for...
Where did you get that hand stop? ( it's not a vertical foregrip)
It looks like you are using two different kinds of vertical pistol grips on pistols. Is there something I am missing?
Looks like he has a more normal vertical grip on one too. I personally would never put a vertical grip on a pistol, 26 overall inches or not. The ATF never cleared that statement up. However with an 8.5, sba3, and folding stock adapter it may be 26 over is you measure the brace fully extended. Although there was an article saying the ATF was measuring AR pistols overall length only to the end of the receiver extension and in the case of a folding stock collapsed as well. Although that may have been an issue with state laws as well.
I know some people like to stick it to the man. But to me it's such a legal gray area I just avoid the hassle from both the authorities and other people at the range.
@@project86xero no way is his pistol long enough, 10.5" barrel ones aren't even long enough to fit into this "gray" area. I have correspondence with BATFE about this and barrel lengths and they told me no, no vertical grip. I'll just stick with that since I have written document from them that says this. If people want to put a VG on there pistol more power to them, not a chance in hell i'm going to. I couldn't afford the legal fees trying to prove i'm right but for those who want to, go ahead, poke the hornet nest.
@@project86xero doesn't really matter how long it is... a folding stock adapter puts the length of pull over 13.5" on every adjustable brace on the market... Which is an absolute no go...
So not only can it not be counted for overall length, it turns a brace into a stock...
I dont think your supposed to put any vertical grip on a pistol it's only supposed to be an angled or like a finger grip.
@@anthonylitten1 a "pistol" over 26" long is considered a "firearm" by the ATF... A forward grip is acceptable ...but can only be measured from the end of the barrel (not muzzle device), to the end of the receiver extension...
Adding a folding stock adaptor WILL extend the receiver tube, and possibly give you the 26+ inches needed to legally add the forward grip, BUT... The folder mechanism extends the length of pull over 13.5", and you can no longer use a brace... Because a brace becomes a stock at 13.5... and turns the "firearm" into an SBR...
...as ridiculous as that sounds.
Ammo, first to go and haven’t seen it in almost a year.

I did not know that. So if I have a 556/223 lower can I just attach it to a complete 300 blackout upper and be good to go?
Yes- the only different part between a 556/223 upper and 300 BO upper is the barrel
Really curious about this so if anybody knows let me know but what Foregrip is on this build I really like it and if I can use it while still maintaining the ‘pistol’ status for an AR that would be awesome
Are you rocking a foregrip on that A.R. pistol?
I was thinking the same thing. ATF might be knocking on his door.
@@BoomStickTactical any AR pistol that's over 26 inches can have a forward grip on it.
@@tomrugger8447 The ATF never clarified that so I wouldn't 100% trust that. Also you need a 10.5 inch barrel on a pistol to get over 26in. Even with the folding stock adapter that adds some length, I don't think an 8.5 inch would make it. Also there was an article stating the ATF only measures AR pistols to the end of the buffer tube, so the extendable sba3 wouldn't help. The article also stated that they measure overall length of AR pistol with folding beaches with the brace folded. Which is completely different than overall length is measured for rifles where they count the stocking unfolded and extended. So basically I wouldn't go that route. Just get a hand stop or angled grip.
@@project86xero wrong and wrong again. Has the ATF ever made anything clear regarding AR pistols? No, and that's probably on purpose. OAL, last I heard, is measured from the threaded muzzle (or muzzle device if its permanently attached) to the fully extended brace. An extended SBA3 brace with Law folder gives you alot of barrel lengths to play with. Once you have an OAL exceeding 26" on a pistol and you add a vertical grip it's not a pistol anymore and cant be carried as one with a permit but it's not an SBR either.
@@project86xero 10.5" is to short. 11.5" gets you to 26 1/8"
