@General Too But how does hair and clothing relate to being in a gang or gang activity? Please explain to me with logic. How does one's appearance mean that they are in a gang?
General Too The idea wasn’t to “keep the children out of gangs”. That’s never stated even ONCE in this video. They clearly stated in the video, if you even watched it, that the policy was made because the school and staff thought the kids hair was “unkempt” and “untidy”. They specifically directed the policy towards NATURAL HAIR. Never stated that the kids are in gangs 😂 Also, it seemed like these kids were all very well behaved and their parents were clearly in the video, showing concern about their kids not being able to wear their hair in natural hairstyles. @Kageyama’s Milk to be fair, sitting behind a tall AF mohawk is pretty annoying. I call it being considerate. If it's not the way it grows out of your head and it can block someone's view, tie it back. You can have a neon mohawk, but keep it in a ponytail during class. It's like a movie theater- don't block the view of the person behind you.
Shaving their head is not natural either. You just have to wake up and not touch it. You can't wash it either, because shampoo is not natural...therefore using shampoo would cause your hair to become unnatural.
As a white teenager, I've shown up to class with messy hair that I've done absolutely nothing to. If that's not considered "untidy" then there is NO REASON WHATSOEVER that black teenagers that have had their hair done in cornrows or that have kept their natural hair should be considered more "messy" than mine. It's blatant racism and unfortunately it happens all the time. It's not right and no student or employee should have to stand for such discrimination. I don't care what people say about it because in my eyes, any type of discrimination based upon physical appearances are WRONG.
6:35-6:40 lol they'll also make assumptions on how badly they enunciate. And that idealism at the end is a joke; conformity is always pushed, why else are job interviews so full of crap?
I knew guys with shoulder length hair that didn't wash it but once every 2 weeks. It looked gross and no one ever told them to clean up. Targeting dreadlocks and cornrows seems a bit specific and like they were asking to get blown the fuck up.. They basically threw themselves down a flight of stairs and said it wasn't on purpose. xD
It's not about that it's about Society wants African American people to stay in this bubble that they can control Whenever However but a lot of black people are getting woke up that's what I say stay woke to everything that's going on in society and everybody's wearing their natural hair because this is the way that we used to wear hair in Africa when we were there and it's not okay to them they feel is though we should wear are hair straight and fall into every thing that everybody else is doing in order to fit in but that's not the case enough is enough everybody gets to do what they want you know we should be able to live in peace also but that's probably never going to happen

I've seen hair policies for white kids, but they were at a private school and only affected boys. Boys weren't allowed to have hair long enough to touch their ears or collars.
yeah that makes no sense to me. if you just leave it vague like that and open to personal interpretation, who knows who's going to be exploited by it. Since when has the length of someone's hair EVER impeded their capacity to learn??
@@once.upon.a.time. I've heard the argument that the way our long hair manifests itself either create a "distraction" or it's an obstruction for the children behind the hair (in the case of afros).🤷🏿♂️
Yup if I was in charge of a school I would be much more concerned about making sure kids are learning what they need to learn and have the tools they need to become the best they can be.
Both are equally important. The idea that natural hair is unkempt spreads to the workplace and it's discrimination at the end of the day. If we only worry about learning and grades but we don't fight discrimination then that is only half the battle. Once again, both are important. Just because it's just "hair" demeans the problem. That is like saying that there more important things to focus on-- but that's not the point. It's still a problem nonetheless.
Maybe they are worrying about what's in their heads....hence the hair policies?! If it's to big other students are affected by it when it comes to taking notes on class off the board!
The principle is a black man?? Man I'm even more offended! Like what was he told as a child? What was he told about his African features? What was he told when his hair grew out kinky? Just so many questions on how this man was raised 😩😩😩

My cousins friend got his license right before the lockdown and due to a clerical error the license says he is a black woman. He is a straight white male.
This happened at my daughters high school here in London. The went as far to say that our children's hair should be relaxed and they cannot were their hair in puff balls.Trust me, parents were vocal.🤨
So they wanted young children to be constantly exposed to strong chemicals? Sounds like a pretty good lawsuit to me. If I had a kid that had to do that I'd be pissed. Actually I have no kids & don't plan on any. But it still pisses me off. It's both racist & harmful to the kids.
I was just reading it and thinking that it was directed at black boys. Corn rolls, wtf that is, aren't a neat hair style really? Clear attack on black children they should be ashamed.
When I attended a boys grammar school in the UK back in the 50s, if certain teachers thought your hair was too long, they would throw half a crown at you and tell you to go into town and get your hair cut. (Half a crown was two shilings and six pence back then.)
As a mother of a young beautiful melanated daughter, I feel the same way and I would have nationally put it out there also! Yes, mom you did a great thing, because of what YOU did, that ridiculous policy is no more! Thank you
i dont get why what your hair is styled like and think that the rules are stupid. BUT cornrows, braids, dreadlocks etc is NOT natural hair its a style you went and done to your hair. like i said though it shouldnt matter in school
Rob Gillan the point is when we wear our hair in its natural state we also put maintenance styles in or else you can comb it out into an afro, do twist outs, etc. So cornrows, braids, Locs are styles in which our natural hair can be neatly wore instead of all over our heads (not that its a bad thing) so yes, they ARE natural styles meant to keep the hair kempt.
Mad respect for the mom standing up for her daughter…the lady asking “why didn’t you just wait to talk to the school the next day?” Well I mean…it’s indicative of a huge problem, I’m glad her mom shared and was able to bring awareness to this
the school talks about ' attention grabbing hairstyles' I dunno about you, bur I see someone with natural hair and I don't look twice. I think it's beautiful but it's not distracting from education
Just to piss them off show up with a cornrow, twist, a mohawk in the center etc as your hairstyle. --> I might have if my high school wrote these things in the dress code for hair.
I would have a field day with the "cornrolls" misspelling!! I would get everyone who could to wear cornrows to school all week. What rule would I be violating..?? Cornrows weren't on the list! Haha
These folks still just don't get it. Just because the principle and staff are Black, doesn't change anything. This reminds me of when a friend of mine had a pentagram on his binder (being the edgy kid that he was) and the teachers made a fuss about it. He told them it was his religion and they shouldn't discriminate. They about shit themselves, apparently tried to apologize to him, and said they never meant to offend. What's funny is he's not religious at all. I think someone definitely should have directly challenged them like that. It would have been hilarious.
“It was almost like an attack on me and my culture”. Not almost. It IS an attack on black culture. How are you going to target people for their natural looks? Natural hair is beautiful.
Why is this a black thing??? Blacks arent the only ones with bad nappy hair. I may not agree with this policy but im not standing on this is a race thing.
riikerman No one cares about your religious bullshit. Your religion isn't the only one out there. And it doesn't say to cover hair in every religion. And not everyone even follows a religion.

It doesn't look like hair dye to me, it looks like patches of natural white hair. I might be wrong though.
Lol
And wearing a hair piece 😂
I think that was a natural "gray" patch.
How the hell is wearing you hair in twists/ twistouts a grooming issue?
we are different...all other ethnic groups have the same kind of hair we as Afro Americans do not...And their mad...I love my natural...Best decision i made....#loveyourself
No not all ethnic groups have the same hair. Some Asians have bone straight hair, and some have wavy/ slightly curly hair.
Us arabs have mostly really curly hair, some even have afros.
Nonetheless, hearing these news just makes me very sad
talking about texture most Afro Americas have kinky hair not bone straight or curly Talking bout Afro Americas...
Godisgood Thankyoujesus yea i know but you said
"all other ethnic groups have the same kind of hair" and I just gave my opinion.
***** Aha alright then my bad ..
“Cornrolls”
Sounds about white
super white lmao
Cornrolls sounds like a vegan dish.
Principal and half the faculty were black
Gtfo you racist bitch. How would you feel if someone told us "sounds about black, sounds about Latino, sounds about Asian, sounds about female, sounds about gay"....GTFO OUT you intolerant hypocrite.
@@No-ux6yl Racist
I’m white, but I absolutely hate this! If I’m going to be honest when I was younger I hated that I didn’t have this hair this curly or beautiful. As a kid I was really aware of the racism going on and there were times where I would hate myself because I’m white and my ancestors treated African Americans this way. Absolutely disgusting
What's a reasonable length? What's a reasonable length for Caucasians, Indians, etc., who have very long hair? Stop discriminating against us.
yes; it's so bad; it's even worse when the same people it affects are defending those requirements.
+i am NOT the father perm and relaxer or press are two different things
an Afro longer than 2 inches can cause view obstruction for other students.
Holly Allen wow.... so can a tall person lol. That's a shit excuse.
+terrible person idiot wearing perms, weaves and a press is emblematic of black womens disdain for their natural kinky hair
I wish my mf school would! With all them crazy ass colors people put in their hair, piercings all over their damn faces and you gone tell me I can't wear my natural hair?! FOH✌👉👉🚪
Fr imma take a knee
Heaven Onley at my school I see some white kids dyed their hair
Heaven Onley EXACTLY WTFWTF
The policy didn't even say no natural hair, it just said no dreadlocks, no colours and no plaits for boys. Those things aren't natural, but I do object to all of those things.
dawn khader it said “no Afros over 2inches” that’s natural hair and Afros aren’t that short
How can you tell black people not to wear their hair the way GOD made it?
Tae Kwando AMEN!
Tae Kwando because they don't believe in God.....
Im pretty sure cornrows and dreadlocks have to be made by humans. They dont just magically grow outta black folks heads.
Tae Kwando Amen
You're right.
A similar story happened to one of my classmates in my old school. So one day in class my WHITE teacher told a BLACK STUDENT WHO HAD DREADLOCKS told him he couldn’t where them because they were distracting and saying he was playing with them EVEN THOUGH HE WASN’T also there’s girls who always plays with their hair but the teacher never said anything but the next day he didn’t show up come to find out he switched schools. Yea I wouldn’t want my kid to be in a racist school either
Are you trying to tell me Sesame Street has more common sense than whole school
Yes they do!💖
No "cornrolls" lmfaooo
Sophia the Mistake they spelled it wrong! Dumb asses 😭😂🤦🏽♀️
Exactly! Keep in mind that these are educators, so should know how to spell!
Exactly and the many of these people involved were black ***smh**
Sophia the Mistake lmaooooooo
No luv 4 braids?
What do hair have to do with getting a education
John Doe. Hair has nothing to do about education. Getting education will help to know that a turns into an if it is before a vowel. "An education."
and it's "does" not "do"
It's "distracting"
@@tierracaccitolo what do you mean?

Schools when kids get bullied: 😐😑
Schools when kids wear natural black hair styles:
*Now this is an avengers level threat*
Student: *kicks someone down, calls them the N word, throws rock at their face, and tells them nobody wants them living*
School: I will deal with them later *never gets on them*
Student: *Says their true self, shaves head to support friend with cancer, exposes teacher bullying students, and brings service dog to school*
School: You are in big trouble, you are going to I.S.S
Natural hair isn't a trend or a political statement. It's just the hair that I was born with and there's nothing I can do about it without damaging my hair.
Geeky Winse exactly
Actually if you dont ever come your hair and you leave it in its natural from it will dread
black hair naturally locks without manipulation, thus forming dreads even with no effort after months. educate yourself before you spew ignorance.
Victoria R No, it will matte. Dreads, to be right, have to be groomed. Learn a bit more.
Sandy Geffrard It still has to be groomed to be correct. Before you go crazy...experience!
Cornroll is something we bring to the cookout, and damn is it good. Cornrows are braids.😂💀
😂🤣
That might have been an autocorrect fail but then they should have proofread it before they distributed it because it looks pretty ignorant. Growing up in South East London everyone always called them canerows rather than cornrows.
@@rachelhart3531 idk why they called them canerows. It looks nothing like rows of sugar cane lol but it does look like rows of corn on a cob. If they were racist slaveholders they could have just asked the people what they called them. Then we would all have the appropriate term instead of the one given by the people enslaving Africans.
Ggug
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Good one!!!
He said the restrictions were geared towards boys but in my opinion boys should have the option to wear braids Afros or cornrows as well. Either way it was an attack on the black community.
Anything else is DISCRIMINATION.
Very sexist of them....
Exactly! They might want to grow their hair out. The afro thing about afros being no longer than 2 inches really drives me crazy because, especially for black men, that's how their hair grows out. So they're supposed to not let it grow naturally? This makes me so angry.
Ruben Martinez explain
@Ruben Martinez so do white people it's not like out hair can be like yalls where it grows and falls to the sides.
"No cornrolls"
Slowely puts away my roll of corn
The school should never reference style or length. They should be more concerned about education and paying their teachers better salaries.
they did reference length. 2" afros
@@TheLochs
They are still out of line. They should not get a vote on length or hairstyles. However, they are free to address lice!

😂😂😂
That was rude 🙄
what a bout the white peoples natural hair and how they wear in french braids and pigtails and other hairstyles
if your trying too ban just african americain hairstyles thats pretty much called discrimation/racial profiling
something needs too be done about this crazyiness SMDH
u took the words outta my mouth!! that's EXACTLY what went through my mind initially.. I can understand the bans on wearing certain clothing and things of that nature but hair is hair and if they're gonna ban black people from wearing their hair in it's natural state then the same should be done to every other race because that's extremely discriminating and completely unethical.. how a person chooses to style their hair shouldn't be any of the school's business unless there is something offensive or inappropriate done with it, such as shaving obscene words or graphics into it or something like that.. these schools are getting worse and worse with their need to control people's lives.. it's unacceptable and should be addressed by the board of education in each state IMMEDIATELY.. MUCH LOVE 🙏💗💖✌👍
@@jennifermoody6987 Agreed. i see how much this is affecting them because i have black friends with beautiful natural hair so to see them hurt like this makes me so upset and sad and angry
@@TheCreativeAutistic37 Me too.. I have NEVER had a single shred of tolerance for the horrible way black people have be treated by my own race and I'm usually the first one to shut it down if I see it happening..the fact of the matter is, with THIS issue in particular, that the school board needs to respect people's rights and realize that there are certain boundaries and lines that they have absolutely no business crossing whatsoever..every person has a God given right to wear their hair any way they choose and they shouldn't have to be told that they have to change it if they wanna be allowed to go to school and learn..these immorally disturbing attempts at controlling everything by people who think that, just because they're in a position of power, that gives them the right to treat people however they want, needs to be shut down IMMEDIATELY.. double standards have absolutely no place in justice, liberty and morality..MUCH LOVE MY FRIEND
