Great video man. Not even sure how I found it! I have a perspective you may find interesting that goes along with your point about the feeling “Opeth is it.” I didn’t listen to Opeth for the first time until about 2015 or so. However, I had that exact same feeling. I can only imagine it was more potent back when this music was being created and released. I grew up listening to music endlessly but I never really heard anything like Opeth. Excited for the new album tomorrow! Enjoy man.
welcome back...your intelligent reviews and commentary have been missed. I will investigate Opeth after listening to your views on the band. BTW all the best for the new album.
Opeth got me into both extreme metal and classic prog and the rest was history. My band Folklore simply wouldn't exist without them. I'm a fan of all eras of their music, the new album can't get here any sooner! Great video man, You have a new sub.
Absolutely my favorite metal band since the late nineties, and one of the only original bands of recent times. I really like Porcupine Tree (not metal) and Blut Aus Nord as well...
Hi again! Unfamiliar with Opeth which makes this video even more intriguing... Yesterday I addressed this What is a Great Band? topic with a 19yr old workmate while listening to ...70s 80s Rush "Who pushed... in every direction"😊👍I wonder... 6mins in...will you mention them here?
I'm not a metal fan, and never got into Opeth, but I wonder if the title "My Arms, Your Hearse" was taken from Comus, as I remember that being a line from one of their songs. Also reminds me of Nick Cave's "Your Funeral, My Trial".
