Yeah, Clapton and Bramhall both have very very tasty solos, and yet they just leave Derek for last... Derek is really special, most good/great guitar players I come across always say so
Hearing this rendition of Hendricks Little wing brings back fond memories of my late teens. We were a very unique generation to have the music we did back then. When the three greats died in the fall of 1971 is was a sad time. No one has ever played Little Wing like Jimmy Hendricks no matter hard they try to keep his legend alive.
I love this and THANK YOU for sharing. They're playing the cover of Little Wing from the original Layla album. Keep in mind it was 2 of the greatest ever guitarists Eric and Duane Allman together trying to cover Jimi Hendrix. And they did. Way differently than he did because they took it another way. Later Stevie Ray Vaughn came the closest ever to the Jimi version. But this one is AMAZING.
Thank you for this. I was at the Sydney show on Jan 30 2007 at the Entertainment Centre. When EC started on the intro to Little Wing I nearly burst into tears. He hadn't performed that song for decades. I felt, and still feel, deeply privileged for that. I was doubly blessed when he performed it again at the Entertainment Centre two years later on March 8 2009. The whole band were absolutely awesome, loved young Derek Trucks - an inspired choice on that 2007 tour. Sadly, the Entertainment Centre was demolished in 2016, located deep in the China Town area, and the backdrop for countless incredible days and nights for me and various family, friends and partners for over 30 years. But most of all, it was where I saw Eric that makes the place special.
Yeah it’s called the floating vibrato. He uses his whole arm while doing it. It is very fun to do it on guitar. To me, it’s the best sounding vibrato ever.
Each player sounded fantastic. Trucks had his silky rippage happening there too, what a fraking guitar god that guy is. Clapton's tone and solo was purdy awesome too!
Also, this is one of the RARE times where we get to see Derek without a slide. And still, he's untouchable. His phrasing will never be topped. I have a suspended account that reiterated these same sentiments years ago, years ago. Now I have to repeat myself on the vanilla channel. Either way, my point stands, that blond boy is NUMERO UNO. Love to Hendrix, he's the inventor. But Trucks is the perfecter.
yup man!... his strings are inverted(according to a normal left hand guitarist) .. on top is the high e and at bottom is low e(and accordingly the rest) .. while normally, it should be the other way 'round it is maddening how great this guy is and how underrated!
hendrix needs no validation, especially as far as guitar or musicality goes, he was essentially a force of nature in music as we know it, and still is to this day, nobody is responsible except the Power of jimi hendrix himself , just being who he was . . . a musical genius . .
Joe B Sorry, that's incorrect. Doyle is well known for playing upside down. It's actually clear as day in the video - the thicker strings are clearly on the bottom. He sometimes plays lefty guitars, but they need to be re-strung or altered by swapping the neck out from a right-handed guitar.
Sorry you don't like Eric, but he is the official heir to this song. His cover from the Layla album is an acknowledged classic rendition. No coincidence that It featured Duane Allman on lead. Derek does a great job filling those shoes. Doyle is a pleasant plus.
Great music , but I would really like to reply to & talk to Artie RT , I really like your take on music. there is a lot of classical music that I hear and really like, but when I hear it I don't really know who I am listening to may be you can help.
Too many modern versions of songs from this era disappoint me, even when it's the same artist. While this is different in feel, the intensity and passion are there, and those are what's so often missing. I started to tear up at a couple of points, it hit me so deeply. There's a smidgeon of wankery near the end, but the overall song is so freaking good I don't care. (And I wish I could play like this, wankery and all!)
Good to see Derek playing something other than slide. He sounds amazing. I'm not a huge fan of Clapton, but his playing is really nice here. Just really don't like his voice. Would like to hear Doyle sing it. And whoever said, there's a Doyle in every blues bar, I say you're outta your freakin' mind.
Jimi is on another level than Clapton. Thank the fact that Jimi is the best ever by leaps and bounds for the fact that he is still such a big deal today. Clapton will never touch the way music flowed right out of Jimi like magic.
Nope. You can find a guy like Doyle in just about every blues bar in the world. He was absolutely not special. Derek on the other hand, though, is flawless as always.

A great song. Clapton's guitar perf as good as it's always been. Trucks OTOH could do better, the guy wearing a sock on his head... well, there's one like that in every speakeasy. My biggest objection like always are the lyrics, I have no idea why every good song is about a twat.
Najwybitniejsza wersja ever🥰
Wow I just love the song could listen to it over and over
Derek is untouched. He's the greatest thing to ever touch 6 strings. His solos are God's voice in the flesh.
Yeah, Clapton and Bramhall both have very very tasty solos, and yet they just leave Derek for last... Derek is really special, most good/great guitar players I come across always say so
SUPERB, FANTASTIC, every superlative in the dictionary!
What a beautiful, soulful version of this song! Makes your sprits soar!

jimi hendrix
Jimi Hendrix was so very talented musically!

I've been waiting for playing Little Wing by Eric Clapton in Live. Happy to hear of this. Thank you^^
i saw this tour in seoul thanks for your shared
Three amazing players ... all on one stage, thanks for posting this one !
I've NEVER seen Derek Trucks play without a slide. Great video, thanks for sharing.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Chuck Costello OH NO, HE'S A GREAT PICKER AS WELL AS ONE OF THE MOST PROFICIENT SLIDEMEN ON THIS PLANET.
Just amazing the big three
Wonderful
Damn Eric's vibrato sounds like no other!!!
Yeah, When you're watching him doing the vibrato it is like his wrist is separated from the rest of the hand!
Yeah it’s called the floating vibrato. He uses his whole arm while doing it. It is very fun to do it on guitar. To me, it’s the best sounding vibrato ever.
amen, heavenly music 🎶
Wow! That felt sooooooooooo good!!!
❤❤❤ my second favorite version both by Eric. ❤Forever Fan ♥
Each player sounded fantastic. Trucks had his silky rippage happening there too, what a fraking guitar god that guy is. Clapton's tone and solo was purdy awesome too!
Great video! Amazing close-ups! I haven't felt this since I saw Clapton at The RAH last May..
Unimpeachable...best rendition I've ever heard. Butterflys n zebras... Seen on the wings of...
The wind😁
You all out did yourselves great job.

it is maddening how great this guy is and how underrated!
1:20 Does the guy taking the video actually scream "Give it to me"? Also Clapton and Trucks are awesome.
Great !
steve jordan and willie weeks....wow..
And its randomly Steve Jordan on drums wtf, is this at the gates of heaven?
クラプトンのリトル・ウイングは何回聴いたでしょうか?しかし一曲として同じバージョンは有りません❗デレック・トラックスのスライドがデュアン・オールマンを彷彿とさせます❗のぶ😘

I think I just fainted....Eric's playing is extra pretty here ; )
🍯🍯👂👂🎸🎧😋
I'M white and have been going to Blues Shows since 1992. I do know talent whe I see it,maybe i'm the exception.
Quem sabe ao vivo!!!
This is so so so good. Was this gig recorded anywhere?
What's the name of this Dvd?
Little Wing
I knew Bramhall was a lefty but never noticed he played upside down as well. Hmm.
He's not playing upside down, he has a strat with a reversed headstock. Check the controls.
Joe B Sorry, that's incorrect. Doyle is well known for playing upside down. It's actually clear as day in the video - the thicker strings are clearly on the bottom. He sometimes plays lefty guitars, but they need to be re-strung or altered by swapping the neck out from a right-handed guitar.
scholzie You are 100% correct!
scholzie totally right bro .. he plays upside down .. not even hendrix played upside down or did he??
tino mendoza Jimi was a lefty but not upside down strings. Doyle could walk into a jam and pick up anyone's guitar and plaaaaaaaaaaay.
Sorry you don't like Eric, but he is the official heir to this song. His cover from the Layla album is an acknowledged classic rendition. No coincidence that It featured Duane Allman on lead. Derek does a great job filling those shoes. Doyle is a pleasant plus.

Madison Square Garden, New York
any idea where this concert was?
I saw him in Birmingham, AL on this tour
Melbourne Australia 2007
since when music became a competition? I mean some of these comments...come on people! get it together or we are not going for ice cream!
lo spirito di Jimmy Hendrix .
I’m surprised Bramhall was so lacklustre, he was brilliant on Roger Waters, and yet Hendrix is his preferred territory

Jimi is on another level than Clapton. Thank the fact that Jimi is the best ever by leaps and bounds for the fact that he is still such a big deal today. Clapton will never touch the way music flowed right out of Jimi like magic.
Wow this was recorded with a potato
Nope. You can find a guy like Doyle in just about every blues bar in the world. He was absolutely not special. Derek on the other hand, though, is flawless as always.
For all those stupid "Clapton vers. Hendrix and who's better's":
Thx to Clapton&Co Hendrix is still present !
Were you on Ket when you typed this? Formatting is all over the place. ALL.

+Doug J yes well susan is great but nice change

Good song but poor acoustically 3 excellent guitar players but poor recording.
You have to be pretty delusional to think that Derek Trucks ain't a good guitarist white, black, hispanic, purple, or orange.
