    Narrower width means they can hide these things in any normal width hanger. Whereas the B2 being so much wider, well it was very obvious as to where they were stored. That alone is an advantage.

      Remains to be seen if they can keep their promises about the maintenance costs.
      The R&D costs are cheap just because all the R&D was spent on the B-2 and other stealth aircraft. Good to capitalize on previous investment. But stealth is top secret. How can we be sure how much it costs.

      What a *JOKE* and another complete *WASTE* of tax payers money. Due to recent advances in integrated and tiered air defense systems, any advantageous stealth capability which this weapons platform may have at one time possessed has now been rendered entirely inert. It will only be capable of using stand-off weapons from outside of radar protected areas which basically means even the most “unstealthy” and inexpensive of aircraft would be still be fully capable of performing the same role. Once more, the DoD has succeeded only in fleecing the American tax payer to the benefit of Northrop Grumman and the Military Industrial Complex and its army of *PUPPETS* and *SHILLS* in the White House, Congress and the Senate. $700,000,000/unit. I've seen a few simulations using what is known about both the B-2 and what available information (not rumors) there is about the B-21 and it's estimated that modern AESA radars can pick up a B-2 about 50 miles away nowadays. The same radar is estimated to not be able to pick up a B-21 until 15 miles away, which is more then close enough to throw gravity bombs as Binkov suggested, as well as guided munitions. It's gonna be a beast for a good long while.

    Remember that, like but less extreme than the rocket equation, weight/fuel savings have nonlinear effects. Say your engines are 25% more efficient. That doesn't mean you need 80% of the fuel (1/1.25) as you might expect but substantially less than that since if you save 20% of your fuel then you need a smaller vehicle and need to generate less lift meaning you generate less air resistance which in turn means you need less fuel and so on.

Same time Cruisers and Subs would launch cruise missiles as the B21 Raiders penetrate enemy air defenses. Flood and overwhelm air to air defenses. Cause confusion and chaos. As the enemy lights up their SAM radars to defeat the mock decoy drones B21 raiders start dumping anti-radiation weapons. F-35's and F-22 Raptors mop up any enemy aircraft.

      Yes because the shape is designed by computers there’s very little changes to be made to make its geometry better. Materials will make a big difference to radar stealth, but you can’t even imagine the difference in technology that is packed into that plane, literally, since it’s all classified. The avg persons knowledge of aircraft technology is based off of stuff we made 30 years ago, since anything that’s actually new and interesting is classified, especially in a high tech bomber like this. Computers have become many orders of magnitude more powerful and complex and we have yet to see the full extent of what these new systems can do, even in the F-35.
      We probably won’t even know all of the new technology inside the aircraft until it’s almost retired in 40 years, and even then I’m sure there will still be some secrets.
      These stealth bomber airframes are getting extremely close to the most efficient design possible so they’ll all look the same. Unless we discover some new type of radar physics or aerodynamics haha which is extremely unlikely.

    3:17 is fairly irrelevant, since it’s very unlikely that the B21 would use a JDAM in a stealth penetration style mission for two reasons:
    1: Open weapons bays tend to make stealth aircraft much more observable. Opening the bays within JDAM range of enemy radar would be a risky move even with a normally very low observable aircraft.
    2: While the B21 may be stealthy, a JDAM bomb is not. It is also very slow, being only a free fall bomb. It could easily be detected and incepted by radar guided missiles or even gun systems.
    A much more likely choice for a penetration style mission would be the AGM-158 stand off missile. It can be launched from over 200 miles from the target (at which point the B21 would probably still be invisible even with an open weapons bay), it is itself low observable and it is reasonably fast as well.

This made them effectively blind to even non-stealth aircraft for the majority of the time. The repeated route of the F-117 simply gave the Yugoslavians a clue as to an opportune time to turn on their radar. They detected and shot down the F-117 from 23km with a 1950s era Soviet SAM system. Had they been operating their radars freely, they might have detected it even sooner.

    I’m curious about service ceiling. If one combines you 140-150 foot wingspan estimate with likely weight (aviation week gives a 225k-260k lbs max takeoff weight based on the main gear tires) you get a wing loading as low as ~52 lbs per square foot. This on a blended wing/ body shape known for efficient lift and a plane fully optimized for high altitude (unlike the B-2). 52 lbs per square foot (much lower as fuel burns off) is getting close to something like the Lockheed U-2 (40 lbs per square foot), a plane that can operate approaching 80k feet in lighter configurations. This makes me wonder if the DOD is going to great lengths to disguise sweep angle and wingspan to hide the fact that this is a 70k service ceiling aircraft when lightly loaded. Not only is 70k feet a much more challenging intercept, but from that altitude hypersonic missiles or LREW AAMs would have considerably more range than if they were launched lower, making the B-21 an even more formidable long range standoff platform. The standoff counter-air capabilities that altitude allows become particularly interesting, especially when point defense lasers enter the picture.

It is a long range bomber capable of hitting any target pretty much anywhere without needing in air refueling. To further that it can strike multiple targets (nuclear or not) at the same time (remotely or not) while being basically undetected. To take this even a step further from what I’ve read it’s supposed to act as a satellite if communications ever go down as well as one of the first steps to being a command hub in the air, like a carrier command for the jets in the sky allowing it to plan for strikes for other planes as well. I bet the next am ram or missle could use not only what it and the jet can see but using the b-21 onboard ai information to make a more accurate attack

The reasoning would be that it would give them and the overall alliance a more powerful punch if China ever launched a conventional war (very possible due to the South China Sea dispute, Taiwan, etc.). • @f38stingray
      @f38stingray Рік тому

      @@amaneyugihanako-kunofthesi8849 Yeah, it's interesting to think about and hard to say how much the modularity will affect things with the B-21.
      Obviously being designed for upgrades extends lifespan, although if you think about it the B-52 wasn't specifically designed with all those upgrades in mind but it made it. Sometimes upgrades weren't part of the original plan but crews had the ingenuity to make them happen, anyway (I'm thinking F-14/LANTIRN integration).
      Something that seems to help the B-52 is all the individual parts can be swapped out relatively easily. Newer aircraft have more systems integration which might make that harder - software and even hardware changes might be easier, but it's hard to say how long you can make changes with the same ease. I'd also think there would be airframe lifespan limitations with newer aircraft that were easier to build around with the B-52.
      That said, despite my joking comment it seems the B-21 learns a lot from the troubles of previous bomber development and looks like a good plane.

    • @amaneyugihanako-kunofthesi8849
      @amaneyugihanako-kunofthesi8849 Рік тому

      @@f38stingray Yep. I think they're taking the lessons from the B-52 in making the B-21 more managable and easier to handle. Also that its RAM coatings are far more resistant to climate changes, and so does not need a climate-controlled hangar to stay in, as well as not needing new RAM tape every after mission.
      And they did say that the B-21 will be modular, so generations of B-21s could exist over its lifetime. I won't be surprised if they decided at some point to increase the size and payload of the B-21, creating a "Super Raider" in the process, much like the Navy did with their Hornets, creating "Super Hornets from them.
      Additionally, the B-21, being modular, can also be suited for a number of roles. There may be variants of the B-21 that can be drone motherships, use air-to-air missiles instead, perform surveillance and reconnaissance missions, as well as being a missile truck and shooting long-range cruise missiles. So in short, there's just so many ways that they can make out of the B-21, thanks to its modularity

    Greetings
    I have not read any comments so if there are repeats I apologize in advance.
    First, the idea that the F-117 stealth , meaning the materials plus shape( facets) would be almost useless, according to someone. The reasons would be the rest of the aircraft and airframe life- wings are attached with 4 bolts, which also tells you that it's light. It hasn't a radar, for emitting reasons. Instead of going through more of that I will just say that coating variations are possible, and if they wanted they could replace alot of the plane with a composite stuffed like a cannoli with radar trapping materials, and the facets are also there for a reason. So the plane might be operations useless but largely because of age and not having, say, graphine tubes filled with Fe50 and all the way through where possible. Yes I am partial to it, also because the very first fielded planes *had* to work, and they did a job nobody but family expected.
    Australia REALLY want some. You used Brisbane for operational reasons otherwise bots want them to have some
    Last is that invariably people describe missions without attrited radar and sensors. Even a sneak first strike would have t.o.t. stealth missiles blinding as much as possible an adversary. Small bomb bay? Maybe it really is mother and arrives with a thousand small smart stealth warheads, pinpoint delivered because of mom. The last two bits were speculation.
