@@RealHomeRecordingactually that’s really not true. The short RPM is really good for how much time you wanna put in. I just had a short hit a million and it took 1 minute to make and my rpm is like .40 cents
What I don't understand is that when a vid of mine finally hit all the benchmarks we assume youtube values (CTR, Retention, AND it's an outlier for sub/view ratio and like/view ratio), I STILL don't see any boost in traffic. In fact, it UNDERperforms, being given WAY fewer impressions than normal. Why? It's like...I've won the primaries. Time to graduate to the bigger arena. But they hold me back. Just...why? And then they'll take a totally random video of mine, throw it to tens of thousands of people (making it my most popular video) and then STOP completely for no discernible reason. Again...why? So annoying. But, I still go on.
The best thing to do is to adapt to statistics. This probably sounds confusing, here's an example: you published a Shorts. It's 40 seconds long, but according to the viewing duration statistics, the viewer gets bored after 30 seconds and scrolls to the next video without watching yours to the end. What to do? You just need to try to shorten the video to 30 seconds, if the viewing duration hasn't dropped, then there's a better chance that the video will become more popular.
The algorithm is a computer program and it is not personal. Beyond that, I have no idea how it works. I do know that I scheduled a video for yesterday about overcoming procrastination and started seeing tons of videos about beating procrastination on my homepage. It's not the first time this has happened either. When I scheduled my first video, I then saw tons of videos called "My First Video" and UA-cam over 40/50 etc. before the video even went live.
I notice certain periods (in one right now) where it seems like the algorithm (as a watcher) seems to get stuck and continues to no matter how many times I refresh recommend the same set of videos that I have scrolled past several times and am not at all interested then. Thoughts on why this happens?
Since I started my channel, I always see so many videos about how to grow a channel. Like, is that all UA-cam is evolving into? As a computer developer, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW HOW AN ALGORITHM WORKS. Not even the creator of the algorithm can know it. Developer gives an objective to a machine learning model and train it, the model go through every possible path to complete the objective. And even the creator can’t precisely predict which path it chose. Also algorithm constantly changes path to increase accuracy. So it is wast to time to crack the algorithm. Better if you learn human philosophy and make videos that will people like. 👍
As a very new and very small channel, getting the subscribers and keeping them is definitely not easy, a couple shorts that got good views and working on getting the quality of my long format where I and my subscribers need it to be 🥳🔥🚀💥
I feel like I see this in my Impressions analytics. For my most recent videos, I’ve gotten an impressions push early on (in the first day or so), and by my own channel's standards, if I get enough views, it seems to push a little harder (although my CTR always plummets to less than 1% when this happens). If I'm "lucky", this seems to happen again where I get another small impressions push. After that, the video seems to die down and then sometimes, it will just be a small steady stream of impressions until it fizzles out completely, usually within a couple weeks. What is most fascinating to me is that the amount and timing of when the impression push happens never seems to be the same across my videos. I just wish I could figure out a better way to interpret all this to do better each time, but it’s not always clear!
Sometimes i literaly dont even worry about the algorithm, i just upload the video and hope for the best ngl, sometimes it actually works best like that, for me kinda does, algorithm is something that I never get to understand that much..

The algorithm is your best friend. See what people are watching and pivot around it. Also make videos that you enjoy so you don't get burned out. Remember we got this guys!
Let your title be your metadata. Once UA-cams algorithm knows that's what to look at, it will sort things out Within time. Instead of having it go through description section and tags.

Dude, I already knew the information but the work you did on the visuals of this video is outstanding... I appreciate all the time it must have taken and the imagination.. my favorite is when you slit in from the side and your voice was already speaking. Those types of things cause people to watch the video longer because even though they might not consciously see it.. there is a lot of interesting artistic choices being made. I want to be like you when I grow up
Fourteen days ago, I decided to start a UA-cam channel about medicinal herbs and herbal teas, fruit drinks, fruit desserts. Send me good energy, and my goal is to become a million.❤❤❤❤
I don't know why these people think they know the algorithm... they are only big because 90% of youtube channel arent monetized.. when you have 8 million channels, and 6.86 million arent monetized. If they were in any other niche, i'd never believe them.... plus they own a tool that helps youtuber, another reason why you technically have to follow them
I have a shorts channel, and sometimes some videos get shown in a higher feed than others. Never could figure it out. But, I will keep er moving 😊 ✌️ good luck to you!
@@Sunnysideup08 I know that UA-cam is now more focused on earning money through apps or websites like VidIQ and others. When a creator pays to boost their Shorts or videos, those Shorts or videos end up going viral. But for those who don't pay, their videos or Shorts grow slowly and don’t get much reach. That's the story, basically.
By forcing an user to sign in, not only it allows Google to build profile but it also helps sell that profile to advertisers. Its a win win for Google and for the channels because the more people are watching more content tailored to them, more channels are attracting more audience that love their channel and more advertisers are hitting their target audience and therefore willing to pay more which in return means more money for Google and the channels.
I figured out the algorithm. It's just a digital carrot and stick configuration to excite you sometimes that you're making it, and then suddenly strike you to remind you that you're its b**ch.
I think the algorithm is interesting and it doesn't always work the same way. Cases in point, I have two videos that have worked in completely different ways. The first one ("Alternate Realities: World War One") didn't have some massive leap - it has just been a straight gradient from day one. It has, over the current 85 day period, had a steady 60 views every 24 hours (plus or minus 10 views). You can place a ruler on the graph and it doesn't deviate. My most recent video ("AI Nightmares") had a massive leap after the first day of doing nothing. I was getting 80 views an hour. Then, like so many of my other videos, it suddenly went flat. It would be interesting to know why this behaviour exists.
Sometimes, it is not just about quality, more videos, and more views, but it is not always the case. it is always best to know what the majority wants to see. And yes, thumbnail is always a thing. Nowadays, i noticed many channels combining 2 videos into one just to increase their watch time. I am not sure if it's a good idea.
If you want to make better thumbnails that get you more clicks, check out those videos 😉 ua-cam.com/video/MpzTqTCAz5I/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/jXP9Z7SFBjU/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/XY3MFjPVvwc/v-deo.html
The one tthing that's missing here for new creators is how to determine who your audience is and what do they like since YouTtube does not provide this at all. A new creator is creating blanks and receiving blank feedback and until an audience member does what I'm doing now with comments the creator will constantly struggle to figure out their audience
I think I've noticed a big change in how the algorithm was working the last year - I expect they tweak it regularly I'm also seeing more recommendations from small channels recently - mixed up with the larger ones. Maybe the mid-size channels are missing out as a result Clickbait certainly seems to work for people
WOW!, i didn't know the starting youtube home page was actually totally blank, how silly. I have experienced the difference in line up comparing my search to my cousins, 1 video appeared 6th down on my search feed, 13th on theirs

And then they'll take a totally random video of mine, throw it to tens of thousands of people (making it my most popular video) and then STOP completely for no discernible reason. Again...why? So annoying. But, I still go on.
100% this.
I'd say videos that play into your insecurities do best on the platform - UA-cam growth plays into the insecurities of small creators frustrated about slow growth, finances is obvious, manosphere channels play into the vulnerabilities of lonely and desperate men/boys, documentary channels are always talking about everything wrong with society and never talk about the positives. You see the trend? Negativity sells.

Im just a little channel trying to make it in this UA-cam world lol. Almost 100 subs at the 30 day mark, all in all i think I'm doing better then I thought I would. My only advice is look at your previous uploads and try to improve on your next one... XOXO LUV YALL

You should make a video about it if you have time to spare. Helps giving the audience another perspective.
Algorithms can be explained and the math can be shown. Do not mistake algorithms with neural networks.
Everyone is just guessing 😮

@@CluelessPanther yeah the same. Now I just stick to the formula I have and hope for the best.
It's all a mystery 😂 so long as your enjoying it 🎉🎉🎉
As a very new and very small channel, getting the subscribers and keeping them is definitely not easy, a couple shorts that got good views and working on getting the quality of my long format where I and my subscribers need it to be 🥳🔥🚀💥
That's why you need to just keep going. Focus on your content and improving. Who knows? That one video can pop off and you are viral.
Completely random comment but, what mic are you using Dan?
keep on going...i am currently in 118 subscriber...we can do it... small youtubers...❤.
I'm never giving up! AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU 😊
I feel like I see this in my Impressions analytics.
Well algorithm is definitely random when it comes to shorts...i see things in my short that I've never ever searched about or watched similar stuff to
Sometimes i literaly dont even worry about the algorithm, i just upload the video and hope for the best ngl, sometimes it actually works best like that, for me kinda does, algorithm is something that I never get to understand that much..
I Lowkey think it's all about pinpointing a topic that'll get famous, and then grow from there. But with this, I'll have more ideas and make my videos way better! Another brick down the wall 😎 thanks slot for the helpful informations you've been providing us over the decades ❤
Thank you for watching!
UA-cam recommendations is the WORSE recommendation feed from ANY website I've EVER used. It was so bad I had to download a channel blocker to get rid of the channels they kept trying to make me watch. It was SO bad I even made multi UA-cam accounts to split of what i watched by theme.
Hey vid iq I have a question I'd really like to ask how do I get in touch??
Just wanted to say a massive thanks to everyone! Channel is picking back up again and super chuffed! Anything is possible with the right amount of determination ❤
hopefully mine does too stuck with 41 sub not moving at all

You know everyday I learn my mistake and change it you can check others chanel that do the same video as you, then you check their thumbnail and title especially how they create their video, is it how you create yours? then when you changed everything you will see the changes, we are here fighting to grow and guess what, we will still win😊
I just started and am having fun! Even with 9 subs I’m just enjoying the process! Hope it stays that way.

I recently started a UA-cam channel, and I believe I have good Shorts, but I’m still not getting any views. I’m not sure why, but I won’t give up. I’m committed to posting daily because consistency is key. To everyone who has just started, I wish you the best of luck-never give up!
Creators need to stop demonizing the algorithm. It's not a sentient God who chooses who succeeds. It's a tool, like any other. One to use to grow, not fear like a nasty boss. As I make more content, I don't obsess over catering to it, I keep in mind how it works to maximize my potential audience. Keep things light, stay motivated, have fun. 🖤💚

Hello This Is Art Of Techno ❤
I'm still searching for that happy medium but I have been very sporadic with my uploads. I have established set upload times now though so hopefully over the next few weeks youtube begins to notice my schedule.

Nice! I just subscribed ☺️
@@Sunnysideup08 thanks 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I don't know why these people think they know the algorithm... they are only big because 90% of youtube channel arent monetized.. when you have 8 million channels, and 6.86 million arent monetized. If they were in any other niche, i'd never believe them.... plus they own a tool that helps youtuber, another reason why you technically have to follow them
Actually, UA-cam doesn't show a lot of Shorts in its feed. Many creators put in effort, but their videos often don't make it to the Shorts feed.
Congratulations 2 million subscribers 😊🎉❤ 0:28
Thank you!!!
Fun Fact from 2:44 : yes, Netflix literally do that😂
I was doing all long videos but nothing goes viral how can I overcome this sir or anyone any suggestions from your experience
🕊️ Thanks for providing great info as always VidIQ. Small channels on the Road to 1k subscribers, here we come! 🛣️ Let’s get it! 💪
Thank you for watching!!!
😂 oh yes
Hey VIDIQ 😃👋
"Algorithm" youtubers can't ignore this word easily. Good luck everyone👍
Try to understand the algoritm and untill the end of 2024 i'll get 10.000 subs 🎉
Thank you for my 288 subscribers ❤❤❤
I make content i think people want to watch and double down on my top performers
Thank you so much, as a new creator, this is all I needed. Here's to hope I make it and able to pay my school fees with it. Thank you.
4:00 LEGO!! 😳
UA-cam is starting to promote smaller channels in the recommendation, i love it
@vidIQ I must say on a side note, I am loving the thumbnails!! 💯

The one tthing that's missing here for new creators is how to determine who your audience is and what do they like since YouTtube does not provide this at all. A new creator is creating blanks and receiving blank feedback and until an audience member does what I'm doing now with comments the creator will constantly struggle to figure out their audience
Good video, very informative, filled with facts.
Thank you for sharing this awesome value
I hope to get to 600 subscribers soon.
You got this!!
I have been uploading gaming videos for 6 month on UA-cam yet i can not tell what to post or what the viewers want.
I think I've noticed a big change in how the algorithm was working the last year - I expect they tweak it regularly
I'm also seeing more recommendations from small channels recently - mixed up with the larger ones. Maybe the mid-size channels are missing out as a result
Clickbait certainly seems to work for people
Just be consistent and keep your head up! 💪🏻🎉
