      Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. It can absolutely be real, but I think there's plenty of reason for it to be all fake.
      Anyone remember the Pokémon Stars rumor that just so happened to start the day after Sun and Moon released? People seemed to think that since all reporting kept saying the same thing, it must be real. Meanwhile, all reporters were using the same exact single source, or pointing to other reports that came from that original source. It turns out that nothing was true and nothing even came out of that in October's massive Pokémon leak.
      All I'm saying is that just because many are repeating the same rumors or supposed leaks, that never makes it 100% true.

      @amjiva 29 днів тому +3

      Nintendo isn't a VR type of company. They will 100% focus on AR rather than hiding players inside of face-hugging screens. And thank God for that.
      Let Nintendo team up with Japanese companies TDK and QD Laser to launch a retinal projection wearable that scans the game's visuals onto the player's retinas with no intermediary screen. This could be used to enhance games on the TV at home, but then it could also be used to completely replace the handheld screen. A retinal projector or virtual retinal display creates the image on the retina that then appears as if floating somewhere in front of the user. They can have the virtual screen appear affixed to the handheld like a screenless slate with a touch interface. This is just the tip of the iceberg. VRD systems also don't cause eye fatigue or headaches like screens near your face do.

    Nintendo Life also gave the idea that the attachment for the wrist straps could send the light on the optical reader upwards towards the shoulder buttons, essentially making it behave like a Wii Remote that can identify where the TV is and project its cursor on it (similar to how some smart tvs have the controller act like a pointer cursor).

For the first time, PC RTS games would be fully playable on console without feeling "off" with too slow controls. You could use the control stick as a scrolling wheel too. So much potential, and like the Wii U (and probably switch, I never tried) can connect a usb keyboard to it, I used to do that with the Wii U, the Switch can practically play like a PC (obviously not as powerful as high end pc's) with a connected keyboard and having the Joy-con as a mouse, I really hope the mouse feature is true, but I mean it's okay if it's not, just can't wait till the actual reveal of the Switch 2, whenever it is.

    I hope that means that we can also connect every regular mouse to the switch, becaue well.. it's a nice idea but it's a mouse for baby hands lol. They could also give us some attachments for the jocons that allow better ergonomics and buttons that are bigger and easier to press

  • @Oomy75

    What a stupid gimmick, 1. You need a table to use it, you lose access to most of the buttons, it looks even more uncomfortable to use than the joy cons. Feels over the top for a couple of niche games that would use it. Why not just release a separate Nintendo mouse for games that might need it

    a mouse is cool but what about the other controller? a keyboard works because there's so many keys your left hand can hit (wasd, shift for run, ctrl for crouch, Q, E, and like the first 5 numbers)
    it would be basically impossible to use the mouse to aim, left control stick to move, and other other buttons other than the L and ZL ones.

    • @birdflox1337

      I've been told that the concept of using a mouse in one hand and a controller in the other is apparently not new, somehow. As long as the mouse lets you left and right click, it should technically be able to work.

    • @abbazaba
      @abbazaba 29 днів тому

      You could also use stick buttons and four directions on stick of the "mouse joycon", for something at least.

    • @Refreshment01
      @Refreshment01 29 днів тому +1

      So the setup is left joycon in hand normal orientation & right joycon in mouse mode. Left joycon has: 4 face buttons, left thumbstick click, l, zl, - & gyro/accelerometer. Right joycon has: optical sensor (basically right thumbstick), r, zr & 4 face buttons. Also you can basically lift the mouse & shake it to reload.
      It can work.

  • @Refreshment01
    @Refreshment01 29 днів тому +1

    02:06 @Andre: Do you remember one of the first switch 2 leaks which was some factory shells of the joycon & switch 2 tablet? Well those shells showed both joycons (left & right). Both had the same exact top layout with the hole for the supposed optical sensor in both parts.
    What you should have done in this video was to see how it feels to hold both joycon in the right hand. Since majority of population is right and multiplayer on !ouse mode will need a right handed user to hold a left joycon.

    If the feature is an integral part of the switch 2, then it means we won't see a switch 2 lite... Unless the switch 2 also support regular usb / Bluetooth mice. But in this case, why add the laser sensor to the joycon, increasing its production cost...
    The other detail I noticed is the lack of rubber feet in the leaked image of the joycon. Even if you buy the cheapest mouse at the dollar store, it will have some kind of feet underneath it to help it slide better. Why wouldn't the joycon have some ?
    Don't get me wrong: I like the idea, but I don't think Nintendo will go this route.

    is it possible that the sensor could be there to somehow help keep the gyro from drifting by detecting your hand? don't get me wrong i'm loving the mouse idea (even though i can't think of many uses for it outside of FPS or RTS games) but now i can't help but wonder what else it could be intended for

    • @GameXplain
      @GameXplain  29 днів тому +1

      Possibly! I actually speculated something like that in my more raw update about the sensor a couple of days ago, that it could be used to automatically recalibrate the pointer controls. Or perhaps used to read hand signals. We'll just have to wait and see at this point to know for sure

    I really don’t know how well it would work, like i just feel like there would be something off about it. I would love to see a 3rd party joycon that’s basically a mouse without a scroll wheel with switch controls on the side. Also I tried feeling how it would feel with my joycon, but it’s too small, so I wonder how it would feel with bigger joycons, but that’s if this is even happening.

  • @Refreshment01

    Something that people commenting on this news fail to mention is that this would make a joycon a rather unconventional mouse. 1) Theres haptick feedback. 2) The gyro/accelerometer inside will make this both an air mouse & a traditional one.
    More over if Nintendo includes a magnetometer, when using mouse mode the switch 2 would be able to reliably track the joycon orientation while you slide it on the surface. A quick example case would be controlling a pointer freely on screen by moving the joycon, but twisting the joycon slightly to the left or right could pan the camera like a virtual joystick.
    Imagine Snake Pass. The player has to slide the joycon while zig zaging left right to make the character move.

    Nintendo can at least claim to have dual wielding mice as their new "innovative controls" selling point. Having functionally 4 directional inputs has to be useful for some unimaginable kind of game. And then you can add independent gyro controls. You could imagine grabbing 2 items on a "desktop", rotating them by rotating the controllers, and then plugging them together. That's on par with VR, just on a flat surface.
