Wow. What can I say?! This is an incredibly powerful video. I definitely feel a very strong metaphor for war in this music video, but it could definitely also be seen more as a romeo and juliet story, where a pair of lovers are against the world.

V AMAZING acting out all these emotions of fear happiness sorrow furious, in a 5 minute music video is crazy because we see actors failing to act out a single emotion in an 1 hour long episode but here he is, the versatility is showing 😭They they forgot what they were running from because through the lens of the camera, they were able to just love and enjoy life until the reality caught up to them and they were taken away ICRY 😭😭😭😭❤❤
Seriously, there is more character development and powerful story in this 5 min than many films I've seen. Beautiful work all around. The song is perfect.

The song they are singing at the wedding is by an Italian musician called Anthony Lazaro with the singer Sarah Kang and is called "Love Letter" and when I saw Tae singing a little bit it made me want to see a real duet because the song is beautiful. The cube is meant to represent society and how badly it treat anyone who is "different". In the MV IU is deaf while Tae is blind in one eye but since they love each other they don't see those flaws. When we see them through the camera's lens it shows how they see each other - beautiful, perfect and the world is full of life and color because they have that love. Even in the darkest moments having that one person by your side can make it bearable. The ending killed me when IU covers his one good eye and her angelic voice along with the storytelling makes this a real masterpiece and I want to see them in a kdrama together.

Thank you Pagan for reacting on this MV❤ I am from Ukraine, and i do understand your opinion fully. Agree with it as well. Unfortunately, once you have experienced war on yourself, you cannot watch such MVs “innocently”. They hit differently.
And yes, i wish that nobody ever could experience this, so.. You wanna go somewhere with your mom? go and do it, because tomorrow you can be thousands kilometres away from her.

Ukraine and Gaza were on my mind as well as social minorities when I watched the MV. In her work, IU seems to use a lot of meta and social commentary / current affairs. Distilling vast and complex subjects into simple fables through storytelling. I am so sorry about what is happening to your beautiful country, thoughts and prayers. Love and kindness should be able to win overall!
I'm now listening to love wins all again and as soon as it started I had tears in my eyes it's so emotional qnd that wqt I love also like I said before these two need to act in a kdrama with a similar concept to the mv.

This video touched me so deeply. I’ve been watching reactions for days. My first reaction was it’s a Magnificent movie! As far as symbolism, I went through a few ideas before reading the intended message. At first it reminded me of finding a love so sweet and strong that it it withstands everything, anything. Then, related to that, I thought for that love you don’t have to fit into any norm. Maybe that’s what the cubes are, the boxes we don’t fit into. When you’re different from the norm, but you share a love, it’s still love. I know in S Korea, traditionally there are many customs about how old you should be when you marry, and that the man should buy a house, and only men and women marry, and only children after you marry. All the traditional rules are still expected. But people are people. Not everyone conforms. IU herself is 30 and single, gasp. (I’m not actually shaming her, readers) Im saying she has resources and I bet even she faces pressure for not marrying before 30. Anyway, I finally saw a quote of some of the directors comments and I was not very close to his intentions . I was taking the themes a bit too broadly and seriously. He was more focused on the lens that sees you at your best, and … I need to read it again.

Yes indeed, a post apocalyptic back story, A deaf IU and V can only see from one eye, that's why she covers V good eye. There already are so many theories about the meaning of that. IU was very sick while filming and for the song recording too, but the director she wanted was on tight schedule, V is about to serve military duty, IU was filming her new series and I believe 12 commercials in December. So no rest even when you are sick. War is horrible, unfortunately the main stream media are calling these wars "necessary"

Another interpretation could be that of a couple at the end of their long lives, the camera view as memories of their past (old-style wedding dress, V's eye healthy) while facing illness and death and how love endures through those challenges. I'm sure it's supposed to be open-ended, so that it means whatever it means to each person. It's a beautiful message.

@@PaganReacts They are both k-dramas. So a big time commitment. But worth it, imo. My Mister is one of the best kdramas of all time (albeit intense and a bit sad and then also a little goofy at time), and IU is amazing in it.
IU is a very unique singer and is known as a national treasure in South Korea.
She encountered financial difficulties in her family when she was a child, so she determined to become an "adult" who could support her own life earlier. Because she likes singing, she decided to be a singer. She hoped to connect the hearts between "I and YOU" through music with emotions, so she took the stage name "IU".
Originally, she wanted to be a traditional ballad singer when she debuted, but because too young, she did not gain much attention from the public in that time(when she is only 15).
Later, the entertainment company tried to package her as an idol singer and achieved great success (in the year she was 18). But when she became very popular with the public at the age of 21 with her beautiful appearance and cheerful personality, she decided to regain her original ambition and embark on a completely different path from ordinary Kpop......She remake songs more than 20-years-old, and re-introduced the popular culture of the previous generation to the younger generation, and received a very good response from public.

The cubes are trolls/ media. In the MV, she is deaf/mute, he is partially blind - it may seem there is no fathomable way these two can understand each other. This video is dedicated to artists, great Korean idols. The cube represents the Korean music and film industry, where every artist is under threat of social pressure, where one wrong move can ruin their careers, where they can be intimidated by the media and end their lives, living under stress and constant fear. Through the lens of a video camera, artists, idols of many, are beautiful and happy, but in real life they are very vulnerable. The Industry sucks all the juice out of them and then throws them away as if they were old and unnecessary clothes. In South Korea, the big music lobbies have a way of treating artists that is scary. If they see that they are good and successful, they take everything and more out of each of them, becoming ruthless. But when they have been exploited to the point of exhaustion, they leave them aside like broken toys. More than one artist has ended up committing suicide. Everything is very sad. At its end the trolls/ media come to consume another artist and fandom and discard it like a pile of clothes and IU is ready to fight but V (the fans) steps in front of her to defend her and their bond, but they are met with a bitter end. A sad reality every artist must face someday. She sheilds V's good eye to protect him from the inevitable. .😭😭😭😭
NOTE - IU wrote the lyrics and was the Producer as well. So the concept and story is all IU's.
I have watched a ton of reactions to this MV and you are the first one, besides myself, who related the pile of clothes to the holocaust. Which frankly is a scary and concerning. I dont know what or how the are teaching about the holocaust in schools today. But one of the images that has been forever burned into my brain is the image of the piles of clothes, shoes, jewelry gold filled teeth.
And the number of reactors who think Love lost, which demonstrates a lack of understanding of what love is. IU on her companies website posted a letter with a few thoughts on what the story she is telling is about. And she basically says the Love isn't physical so thinking that love can defeat hate in a physical match is ridiculous. But love is relentlessly togetherness and hate is always alone.
I'll add that love doesn't destroy it only creates where as hate never creates it only destroys. And hate consumes those who give into it, while love protects the souls of those who don't give into hate. This message is simple and extremely powerful. But the number of people who completely missed the point or twisted it into something that made hate the focus instead of love is sad and a little more than concerning.
