The cube represents society and its going after those that are "abnormal" to societal standards (she's deaf and he's blind in one eye). When they look into the camera, they see themselves as "perfect" and get swept up into this fantasy land and forget they are being chased by the cube. You can see small glimpses of reality like when the photo booth pictures come out and they are their true selves (dirty, cut up, stained dress, one eye blind) but when we saw them taking the pictures they were "perfect". The people with their faces covered are mocking/attacking them even though it looks like they are cheering/celebrating them. At the end, she covers V's good eye so he doesnt have to see the horrible end they are about to face yet she faces it head on and doesn't blink. It's such a powerful song and video. Both IU and V are actors and have been in dramas. So that's why you could really feel the emotions in this video!

@@CCrizzic It's BTS started making great mvs detaily with stories & symbolisms and not just tossing random dance scenes. Now other mvs (even western mvs) are making their mvs similar. Check out BTS' othef mvs like Fake Love, Blood sweat & tears, Spring Day and Black Swan, you will understand what quality mvs they've been making. These got full of jewels in them that it is helpful to check out separate explanations videos.
She's mute, not deaf. She and V react to the cube flying overhead at the same time because they heard it. That's why it's so heartbreaking in the fantasy when she's singing because in the real world, she can't.

This is IU's song. BTS V starred in the mv alongside IU. Both gave a wonderful performance.
The cube is a metaphor for discrimination and hate. The cube represent forces that wants control how, who, when we love. The title says that that love will persevere but it doesn't necessarily conquer all, hence them dying at the end.

IU’s character is deaf and Taehyung’s one eye is blind. That’s why she uses sign language when they’re eating. In the end she closes Taehyung’s good eye when the cube found them because she didn’t want him to see the inevitable happen to them.

Director Eom Tae-hwa, the creator of the "Love wins all" M/V, released an interpretation guide for the M/V. IU also shared her thoughts on the song with her fans. Referring to it, you can interpret the contents of the M/V as follows.
* Cube: oppression, discrimination
* IU's lip piercing (speech impediment), V's eyes with disability: shows difficulties in communicating with the world
* Camcorder: the filter of love (a very important device that allows the protagonists to see beyond their inner and outer appearance and see a whole and happy world)
* Wedding dress, tuxedo: means 'the fruit of love'
* People dressed in black: A world that interrupts lovers who are focusing on each other and having a happy time (there's a singing scene, so you can interpret this as IU's anti-fan)
* Male protagonist : He can be interpreted to mean IU's fans. This is because IU revealed her thoughts on the song to her fans, saying that she wanted to be with them at the beginning and end of her career. She said she's not scared and wants to end her career in style with her fans later in life.
In the final scene of the MV, the wedding dresses and tuxedos worn by the protagonists after their physical bodies are annihilated by the cube fall to the ground, symbolizing the social forms we consider important and meaningful in real life and suggesting that they are not the essence of life. This scene shows the liberation of the main characters from the oppression and discrimination they face from society.

You are correct 😊 thats BTS V and he was just in the video as a actor which he did a phenomenal job if you ask me. If you have a chance definitely look into his solo music such as "slow dancing", "love me again", "rainy days", "for us", and "blue" all have mvs :)

There are so many interpretations of this song. The comment above gave the official one, but personally for me it represents life, if you are fortunate enough to find someone to share it with, and death that finds us all sooner or later. Go to the end with me. V is my favorite vocalist and actor. This is the first time I have heard IU and she is a beautifully talented singer as well

A lot of theories say that the cube represents the oppression of society or the hatred or prejudice towards those who are diff. In this case, they are both disabled, and far from the perfection society demands. How they see each other through the lens is the illusion of looking and being normal, beautiful and even able. But as they find comfort in this illusion, the cube (society) inevitably finds them and despite fighting back or attempting to run from it, they realize that they cannot beat a system which is much stronger than them. But as they die in this representation of a dystopic society, the one thing that they had was their deep love, which supercedes oppression, injustice, and hatred....even in death. Love wins all.

I enjoyed your insights into editing, but it's disappointing how you miss many key details and themes (like their disabilities) without awareness and yet also get derailed by not having a full understanding of "the cube" as a character. Really odd
Sorry about that. I typically work around 70 hours a week so sometimes when filming I am a bit tired and I'll miss important details, but I promise I'll try my best to catch on next time! I read the comments, and I am in love with the themes and this music video has such an impactful story I think we all could learn from. In the end it's important we all love each other for who we are, such a good messgae.

I dont know if it is been a hit because of him. actually, it doesnt matter. but you can't deny that cinematography , acting and directing of the mv and the songwriting, vocals and music of the song are pretty good.
