Today, I’m lucky enough to shadow the youngest licensed casino operator in Las Vegas - who’s on a mission to revitalize downtown Las Vegas. From slots to security, I get to see what really goes down behinds the scenes of a billion dollar gambling business. This is a day in the life of Jonathan Jossel, CEO of the Plaza Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas.
I get to ask Jonathan about the secret tricks to gambling at a Las Vegas Casino, including slot machine secrets, roulette scams, craps best bets, and so much more!
I dreamed of being a Las Vegas Casino CEO when I was in college, so this is a very special episode for me.

Plaza and El Cortez are bookends of downtown and the best 2 places in Vegas.
I am a 7 star ⭐️ vip player, I spent more than 1 million dollars last year. I’m staying at the Plaza hotel in the next few weeks! I am also the owner of a media business, we do commercials for businesses like, as well as I have my own social medias. Great video! I know Vegas’s Pauly C.. good guy… and I will be meeting the CEO when I stay at the plaza.
This was awesome, I've joined 😊
🤔🙏,I'm no body, just old grandma, 73,years old, always dreamed of having a wonderful day one day in.Lasvegas, but fortunately, this is only dreaming, would cost Alots off Money to come to, Whatever You're now, Thankfully To You both to show off fantastic places, best of luck with Everything may God bless 🙏✌️,
Great video Gareth!!
Thanks to the CEO that is decent enough to spend his time with a youtuber and let the public see the ins and outs of Las Vegas and the true casino world. Pretty cool.
I like seeing videos like this when a UA-camr shows us what it’s like for a owner or a CEO to run a business or a place and tell us the secrets
He made it clear this casino doesn’t run like the rest of Vegas
thanks... BIG FREE AD for the gambling industry and specially his place of work where you can lose your life savings

This is the best accidental employment recruitment video to ever exist. What a solid gentleman that listens to his team.
This is pure bullshit propaganda. You don’t make any money in casinos. Save your money invest in other smarter ways.
@@walterwhite1 I think yours is the only comment on this video that speaks truthfully - the rest are bots, employees, or pure dolts. And Jonathan is creepy af. 🙂
@@CyberDocUSA ya, its all casino propaganda. They just want all your money 😆
@@walterwhite1 Dang. And this whole time I thought they were only after my soul. I stand corrected. Peace.

He gets it. He encourages Brian Christopher to film and have promotions and a lot of stuff at Plaza. Which in turn, brings a lot of business to his casino. Smart smart man
WOW. What a great CEO. I'd work for him any day. He listens to his employees and you can see the respect he has for them. I'll be giving him my business the next time I'm in Vegas.
He'd pay you $2 an hour and force you to like it... don't be suckered in by his charm.

I live here- will definitely be spending a lot more time at the Plaza because of Jonathan. What a cool dude!
wow fanboy slow down
This man could be the Mayor of Las Vegas. What a great CEO! True boss!!

Cool CEO. I never been to Plaza. I just might go there next time. Thanks for this nice video. 👍
Agree!! I’m a strip girl but I’ll head to plaza because of BC slots and him!
capo dei capi
my favorite place to gamble!
I'm with you on that.
This is a great property next to really iconic places. Across from circa, and golden gate. A block away from golden nugget, binions and all the beauty of downtown nightlife. This has been my favorite place that nobody seems to know about
Hats off to the CEO. He treats his employees with utmost genuine respect, who in turn pass it on to the customers. Well done. Other companies should pay attention. This is how to run a successful business.
Or appriecytes his labor , a vital importance to the operation he oversees

you understand MARKETING right...free publicity
@@g.s.5868right, but you don’t see the other GM’s clamoring to give interviews. He deserves the publicity !
This CEO gets it! He understands that Slot channels are Hot and He's tapped into the pulse of the next Generation of Vegas. By giving legit insight and being honest will get more feet in the door. Refreshing to see.
Fr,the level of research and employing the right people to get above the rest is pretty cool
Yeah, I think I will go to the Plaza after seeing Brian Christopher there so many times on Brian's Utube videos. I never played the slots in Vegas when I was there because I had not yet played the slots anywhere and I was a little overwhelmed by the city.
hahaahah a degenerate that thinks he has something in common with a CEO corporate executive officer
Super generous of Jonathan Jossel to give this amount of time out of his day, another example of why he's got a great reputation for a reason!
Jonathan seems like a good bloke..a business man but genuine. Will definitely visit if i get to the US.
Really, are you that dumb. It's all propaganda to try and get people to go to the Casino and gamble all their money away.
Do you mean selling his product like any good businessman
@@harolddodds5849 Sure, but most CEO's rely on their executives to do that for them.
As a Vegas native, i LOVE videos like this that highlight the ins and outs, and shows that at least SOME of our ceos genuinely care. Absolutely loved this video front to back
You confuse genuinely care with efficiently operating the business....lol not surprised
This is a spectacular video. One of the most enjoyable youtube videos I've ever watched. Thanks for filming it. Fair play to Jonathan for being so open.
I moved to Vegas 3 years ago. Never been to the Plaza. After watching this the CEO seem like a great guy. I'm headed there next week. Thanks for the content Gareth 🤙🏼
Old town is an interesting mix of good and bad places, and is noisy, but far better than The Strip. All of the locals in fact know the 3 or 4 ways to avoid it entirely as it's a huge mess to get across in terms of traffic. I liken it to the county fair. Go once, see what it's all about. Get it out of your system. Then you're done for a decade or two. :)
@@plektosgaming i like the vibe of downtown better than the strip. the addition of the Circa is cool. its got an old school elegant vibe but also NEW.
Freakmont Street is so much better than the strip. You can just hang out and listen to music, or watch the sights. The Plaza has changed a lot but it's still fun to gamble in.
@@plektosgaming horrible perspective....I go every year for the county fair lemonade and fair food I can't get ANY OTHER TIME OF THE YEAR anywhere else
Hey its The Plaza Fireworks Director! I can't believe you didn't wear that shirt for the interview Jonathan 😂 I agree with Oscar, MGM are defo the biggest crooks!
Loved it, great episode 🤘
So how/why is MGM made up of crooks? We need details.
Wow! This was incredible. I've been following Jonathan and the Plaza crew since they started their podcast. Such a top notch CEO and amazing team and property. Very cool to see him in action. Great job and thank you for this video!
This is the only place I usually stay in Las Vegas and it’s because of Jonathan and his staff who makes us feel like family since the moment we met & Who we have known for over 10 years now and he is the definition of what you see is what you get, No BS and never ducks a question (Besides casino revenue 😂) I interviewed him multiple times cause he’s just a guy you can sit down and have a beer or ten with and glad to call him my friend and well done video guys also you will never see another casino CEO willingly do this type of video 👏 jossel truly loves downtown Las Vegas 🫡
I will be going to the Plaza my next visit. This CEO was very generous with With his information and time. Thank him
Did you ever think that the whole reason he was "generous" with his information and time is to elicit responses like yours?
@@ev25zv of course but he was very gracious with his staff as well. That says a lot
@@ev25zvwhat’s wrong with that? A CEO who clearly cares about his employees and his customers, as well as the town, deserves to get the business!
@@LymeandLight And you garnered all that from a promotional video, eh? Enjoy your stay. Nice to see the CEO of a casino out and about listening to him employees and customers alike. Our local casinos in Laughlin could learn a thing or two from this boss!
This is the first video I watched of yours and man it was fascinating! Thanks to you for putting it together and thanks to Johnathon and the Plaza for making it happen. I'll be in Vegas in a couple weeks and will definitely be checking out this property for the first time.
We look forward to seeing you!
As someone who has not seen your channel before I did not expect this video to be so good. It blew me away with the quality shown. Props to that CEO, something I never thought I'd say! You both have convinced me to try out downtown next time I visit
Fabulous video. Great interview!! I've been coming to Vegas for a long time. In fact my first visit I was with my parents in June of 1965. After 565 trips to Vegas I retired here in 2021 and haven't left. Over the years the Plaza started to show its age and Johnathon completely revitalized the property. 😊😊😊
An absolute fantastic insight to what is one of the most transparent CEO & Casinos in the country great job Sir & credit to Johnathon for allowing us into his casino
Because of your video I’m visiting the Plaza on my trip next month (and I have to stay somewhere else because my office already booked my trip). Thank you to the CEO Jonathan and Gareth! Really nice to watch.
Absolutely awesome video! Love the in depth look at how things work from the casino’s perspective. And shoutout to the CEO for his great personality, outlook, and willingness to take time to showcase his life and work.
Respect to him for being open and as transparent as allowable.
He has passion for his job I see also.
This is a great move on his part. Fantastic PR for his casino.
I imagine he’s accessible to patrons while on the floor.
I further imagine he rewards hard work and knows who are the best employees.
Totally hands on and will fill in at any job in the casino if needed.
And to top it all off I’m 100% sure he reads all these comments. For feedback purposes.
So Hi I’ll have to hit the Plaza my next visit.
Fabulous interview and what a wonderful, seemingly transparent CEO! I have never visited the Plaza but will definitely spend my money, time with this place.
He literally said his machines aren't rigged because it's based on a random number generator.
If you think this is transparency, I can tell you would be the type of person to enjoy their time in his facility.
@Priest_Of_Zebak I would enjoy my time there.
ALL the machines in Vegas except for a few exceptions - are RNG. It's run/decided by the gaming commission. How is he in a position to change that.
What other CEO has ever answered questions? Taken you behind the scenes? Hell look at how much he's raking in with bingo (from mostly old folks?). That's the worse odds gambling ever!
@@mackmck6285 But it's not too expensive and it's fun. So even if they lose they consider it an inexpensive fun time.
@@Priest_Of_Zebak Nothing he said was inaccurate. That's how slot machines work. They are random number generators. Are they "rigged" in favor of the house, yes, but so is every casino game.
Very cool and genuine CEO. He completely gets that service and hospitality is what really makes you money hence cruise ships! Great video, well done.
Honestly I’m gonna visit the plaza next time I’m in Vegas just because I like this guys openness and honesty
I love at 21:48 Oscar asks the when, then who's asking, then where specifically. It makes you wonder what's still going on in different parts but he been knowing how to do his thing *allegedly*
I won in my days of owning a business so many customer service awards. It’s all about customer service making them feel known and appreciated. I would like to know what do you do in the way of comps for your regular players who don’t have the budget like NG, Raja if they come every day or five days a week. I think there should be special comps for people who come that often even if they don’t play $1000 to spin.
This was one of my favorites videos. Looking forward to the other Las Vegas videos. I agree there is so much content that you can be there for more than 3 weeks. Hope you get a ton of views and kill it on this Vegas series of “Day in the Life” episodes from Vegas. Keep them coming.
I've stayed at the Plaza for 30 years and there has been a definite shift in the last couple of years in terms of service and now I know why. The CEO is a badass. Congrats!
Loving this format. Also loved that I learned the origins of the expression "eighty-six".
Me too! I was shocked 😳
Haven’t reached this part yet but as a British guy I first came across the term on Green Day’s 1995 album Insomniac
@@generalwasteman I'm American and live pretty close to Vegas and even I didn't know the source. It is surprising to me, when I think about it, how many Americanisms there are out there.

An episode with Pauly C would be an amazing, he seems incredibly intelligent with LOTS of knowledge and also very entertaining personality.
What a breath of fresh air the CEO Was polite any true gentleman. Next time i'm in vegas, i'm gonna have to check out the plaza
What a GREAT video. I'm a strip visiter from NoCal. Go to Cosmo once a month (Platinum member) for last 6+ years and I never go to downtown. After watching this I'm definitely heading to the Plaza. I had no idea what a cool place.
Thanks and it's great to see the CEO what a nice guy.
Don't miss El Cortez over on Fremont East. Fremont Street is far superior to the Strip. You still have great deals, good odds, excellent restaurants (Oscars - Plaza, Andiamo - The D), live music on 3 stages every night and easy walking everywhere you go.
Random Number generators arent truly random because they require a seed value to determine the outcome. If you can control the seed value , you can control the outcome.
Can you explain how it works the “seed value “ I’m curious:?
Don’t be fooled he’s no gonna sellout his business there 💯 rigged but regulated to payout so much there basically scamming well paying out a percentage I worked at a casino I can see how fake this guy is from a mile away every slot machine has to pay out a certain amount daily once it does that it intakes everything there basically maximizing there prophets well giving the illusion of winners and fair play 😂😂
@@mattperil6074the machine will be set to a certain pay out or a “return to player” percentage- for example let’s say 92% will be returned to player which means in theory that if you invest $100 you should walk away with $92 (in theory).
Of course, there’s variables such as a player winning the grand jackpot for $100k or a player winning nothing aka $0.00.
But the point is - while the random number generator (RNG) is random in terms of what prize it chooses it’s predetermined to only allow X amount % to be won simply due to the mathematical algorithm programmed into the same. Don’t be confused as it doesn’t have a “brain” like “oh, I just paid this grand jackpot so now I can’t release anymore $$$” but rather the mathematical algorithm will make it a 100% certainty that over the course of the machines life it will only return whatever the RTP % was set to back to the player . Hence, not technically truly random.
@@mattperil6074in laymen terms, the seed value is the set group of numbers that the random number generator can pull from
I'm glad someone commented in regards to this. He literally says "if you set the machines too tight" the house controls the edge, they determine the odds of any non player directly influenced game
I stayed with this til the end. Great job Gareth. I don't get to Vegas often living in Reno but this CEO runs
things with genuine sincerity. It'll be my preferred stop when I return.
But I haven't seen any YT'ers recording or doing LIVES there. Many are at the V.

This is an amazing video! Thank you for sharing.
Plaza is the best casino in Vegas! I remember when it used to be Biff's
The copyright free music is a great move. Every streamer you bag is a free advertisement for the casino.

I go to Vegas often but stay on the strip. I'm definitely going to the Plaza next time. Jonathan is a really charismatic guy.
I’ve been watching all the upgrades the Plaza has been making and this video has made me want to stay there even more than before. Really good stuff here, thanks for your work!!

Wow, Loved the video. I saved it to watch later actually thinking I wouldn't, however glad I did.
Very interesting. Hadn't plan to go to Vegas anytime soon. Now I will, and will plan my trip to the Plaza.
If there is one thing I've learned about Jonathan, it's that he cares. Big or small player. Part of what I like about downtown!
I have never been to Vegas. Have family that live near by. I am definitely going to make The Plaza my slot stop because of this video. Thank you!
Casual cameo from the proprietor of the Punk Rock Museum and lead singer of the legendary punk band NOFX, Fat Mike in the bloopers was an awesome surprise!

Thank you so much for making this video! What a great behind the scenes look at a LV casino. Next time we're in Vegas definitely going to the Plaza!
Very nicely done! As a resident of Las Vegas from 2018-2022, I love seeing this video about The Plaza. I always avoided downtown and stayed mostly in Summerlin and Red Rock Casino but on my next visit to Vegas, I'll check out The Plaza. Lots of good people in this video IMHO.

I absolutely love the Plaza and downtown Vegas in general! For more reason i like the plaza after this video! What a cool guy. Theres an awesome rock n roll bar with live music and delicious pizza inside the casino as well as a donut shop thats really really good! I believe they also have an outdoor carousel bar which was neat! Thats just the Plaza im talking about, walk around the neighborhood you have the El Cortez which is an iconic casino as well as The D which is a no frills place. I Will say if you dont like cigarette smell, the D casino is full of smoke haha.
Great video and what a wonderful CEO. Never had the desire to go here other than popping my head in. This video has flipped the script for me and I appreciate you for bringing us along for the ride!
Many many years ago I stayed on the 26th floor of the plaza. I loved it back then and really looking forward to seeing the changes after 18 years. As a retired pit boss. This video has to be the most entertaining and informative to casino rookies and experienced people. Very well put together.
I dò in joy this story with people, their lives unbelievably interesting, and Jonathan work as well.
Very very cool CEO! Will definitely stay in the Plaza. Those doughnuts and steakhouse are very tempting!
I really enjoyed your Day in the Life! I just joined and look forward to more of your videos :)
I love this video that a CEO that is hands on and knows employees' names and what is going on in the business. I have worked in companies that the CEO thought they were better than the day-to-day workers for the company. What they don't realize is the employees is what can make or break a company. This is fantastic, Jonathan is the future. The next Steve Wynn 😀
I would watch a full TV show dedicated to this casino. They made one a while back for another casino in downtown. I forget the name. But it was a lot of fun.
I suppose Brian Christopher is kinda their TV show, but thats honestly more about slots and playing than it is about the casino background, the people running it, and all the day to day operations and challenges. Thats what i love to watch.
This was great! I love how deep you got to access the place, and the dude was really open. Nice work connecting with him! Hope your leg is all better!

What a great video! Jonathan is such a hands on CEO. I met him the first time when I won the name the showgirl at the carousel bar. It has been great seeing the improvements at the Plaza. One of my favorite properties.
Pretty cool of a CEO of a major casino to do this long interview. The Plaza is actually pretty cool. Just don't like how gross and trashy the rest of downtown is. Get rid of street performers!
I came to plaza last month because they have the BC slots area. It’s smoke free and so nice in there! The carousel bar was really awesome too. 😊
Do you win much in the non-smoking casino area?
@@LoveABun I didn’t profit but I also didn’t lose everything like I normally do 😂

This is simply great that the CEO of the casino has an amazing personality and goes around interacting with players & the employees. You could hardly see this in Canada and the new casino in Toronto is the worst when it comes to customer service especially some of the table games supervisors. Canadians are known to be polite & friendly but when you go to this place, it’s totally a different place. We need to learn a lot from the Americans how to run businesses. This CEO is one of the best I have seen cause he seems to be pretty straight forward, honest, friendly & a genuine guy. Great content!!!!
Thank you for this video. I had the pleasure of staying downtown at the Plaza, for my birthday in October, and for the Bino Event, and overall had a great experience. My only downfall was the hotel bathrooms. It didn't give the hotel experience more like a motel. I'm very big on a clean space when traveling. (Not saying the room was not clean it was) However, the space is very limited. Great job on capturing the essence of the Plaza. 😊
I always recommend people to stay at the smaller casinos that are not part of the "big 4" chains. There, as he said when he was talking about theoreticals and rewards, you are nothing. Smaller casinos - they love the person who chooses them every time.
Also, look at the odds - many table games (especially) at the larger places on the strip are horrible.
Note, though, that not all older off-strip casinos are great. Some are really run down and don't cater to their guests very well. One in Henderson on Water Street comes to mind - just a room full of machines and overpriced food - across the street from a dozen taverns and places to eat that are better? Ellis Island used to be fun, but the food there is now just awful and they brew their beer in Utah and ship it in. 1-2 day old beer is vastly different that fresh, even. When they brewed on-site, it was a huge draw, as well as their $3 price. Now it's $6.50 and just OK quality. Silver Sevens is another questionable one. I never see anyone eating upstairs in the restaurants and the place smells like a giant ash tray. Just gross overall and a terrible layout.
What a fantastic video, thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you.
I find it hard to believe that whenever you win a small jackpot over there in Vegas you have to fill out a form to pay taxes on it , over here in Australia when a jackpot in won you can still play the machine without filling out forms, we don’t pay taxes here as it is classed recreational and you don’t have to declare any winnings seems to be a rip off in Vegas .
Actually it’s everywhere in the US!! So if you have a $1200 win, you pay about 20% for federal taxes….😢
On cruises as well
It should be after a cashout, yiu don't win $1200 of you sit there and play it back to zero.
Thought they just changed it to 5800..
Well I won a jackpot in Vegas last week. Good news is NO state tax but took out 25% for federal tax.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Magnificent video Gareth, you keep giving us the best topics & places to visit. Stay Safe & Healthy... Abrazos

As someone who is pretty "strip" faithful to my visits, this really makes me want to give Plaza a try. I love how personable the CEO seems
This is EXACTLY the takeaway I got from this video and I am the same way about the strip. Great great insight
I learned a lot. Thanks. 👍🏾👍🏾
fantastic video and great GM!
4:34 the must hit by bonus is usually complete garbage, so chasing that must hit bonus usually will wreck 99% of the players.
There is no way a casino would allow their entire operation to be at the mercy of a random number generator. They can 100% control what a slot machine does from being cold in the mornings to hot at prime time, low bonus wins, no bonuses at all, etc.
RNG's could bankrupt a casino if they all suddenly and "randomly" spit out jackpot after jackpot.
The casino always wins, you absolutely cannot beat them and walk away with massive profits.
Exactly true
Don't be such a conspiracy theorist. It is a highly regulated industry. They don't need to control or cheat because the edge is already programmed in. It is guaranteed to make money in the long run.
100% correct, anyone who played slots has experienced the machine that is “cold”. It will take all your money down to zero.Nothing random about that. For example do you ever notice when you start losing, it continues to lose and the last ten spins never hit, or after you get a pretty good “ hit”, the machine doesn’t want to pay anything else and starts taking the money back, not random, just programmed to do that.
