  • Time for another early Rahi variant. This one is called "TaMakika", and unlike most Rahi strats which are stored separately from the player, it's stored in the player wad itself. Believe it or not, the early Tahu Nuva wad actually contains three different Rahi strats that I haven't shown on the channel before. Despite being stored like this, the Rahi are still set to spawn at specific coordinates, so all of them have to be moved to be showcased properly in my test area. For a while, moving the Rahi instances in this wad inexplicably broke their projectiles, but it seems like I was able to figure out why. These early Rahi rely on a strat called "ShotSequencer" that also has coordinates, and needs to be moved as well. Additionally, sequencer instances have an attribute that appears to specify which Rahi it is attached to, and that needs to be adjusted in some cases.
As for the Ta-Makika here, Makika never show up in Tahu's levels in the final game, so the name is definitely worth noting. It seems like they considered having Makika show up in Ta-Wahi at one point, but ultimately scrapped the idea (I can see why). Compared to the final Makika (Makika_Mk2), the Ta-Makika is similar overall. The most noticeable difference is its projectile, which has different SFX and graphics. It also uses the old Rahi teleport effect when it's killed, but that shows up in some newer pre-release Makika variants too. In terms of less noticeable differences, its behavior is more primitive than the final version, and the AI seems to get confused sometimes.

Sad, this looks about twice as exhilarating as the combat in the final version looks. I love that they melee attack when shielding and the holstering and the faster movement and cooler projectile effects. LEGO REALLY messed up with what they wanted to have changed.
