Rosemary and pecorino are indeed a fantastic combination of flavors to enhance many dishes, especially those in Italian cuisine. Their earthy and savory notes can complement a wide range of ingredients. Whether it's in pasta, roasted meats, or even as a topping for focaccia bread, these two ingredients can elevate the taste of your dishes. Enjoy experimenting with them in your cooking! 🌿🧀🍝😊
It's good to know I can add in whatever veggies I want. I think the mirepoix and tomatoes are essential though. I like to use kidney beans, black beans, and great northern beans. I would do kale in there too maybe in place of the broccoli or cabbage. I think it is nice to add noodles but it is healthier to avoid the carbs. I'd this with a steak though lol.
Indeed, classic carbonara focuses on simple ingredients. However, adding leafy herbs or spinach can bring a refreshing twist to the dish! Experiment and enjoy the delightful flavors. Buon appetito! 🍝🌿
Looks like an a amazing recipe! I am making my first minestrone tomorrow and I have a question: the mixed beans - have they also been soaked, for the same amount of time as the lentils?
I have made a few variations of Minestrone over the years, some of which used chicken leg and thigh meat. Was it originally a vegetable-only dish? I have not used pumpkin. Pumpkins are out of season at the moment. Am using onions, celery, swede, carrots, red bell pepper and potato here. Also using onion purée as a base...
Lovely dish. I prefer white beans over lentils an more greens (escarole, kale and chard) and garlic in after carrots, celery, fennel and and leek. I use a huge bunch of herbs (rosemary, thyme and sage) but like you remove them before serving. I also use more tomatoes than you and will sometimes use a bit of crushed canned tomatoes as well. I bet if I tried your pumpkin trick, I wouldn't need that. Next time! .
Your variation sounds fantastic, adding your personal touch to the dish! 🍲😊 Experimenting with ingredients is part of the fun in cooking. Enjoy your next attempt, and maybe the pumpkin will be a game-changer! 🎃👨🍳🇮🇹
I personally would put some vegetable stock in there and some pasta shells or some other pasta because to me it’s not minestrone soup without the pasta 🤔
I tried making this tonight. It tast very good but mine looked a bit more yellowish instead of orange. I guess thats because I used a butter squash instead of the pumpkin?
Yes, the color can vary depending on the type of squash used. Using butternut squash instead of pumpkin might result in a slightly different color. Glad it tasted good! 👍🍽️
