As a rhythm gamer I have some advice,
For difficult combos, don't look as t the individual notes, look at them as groups
You'll notice rhythm game players play at very fast speeds, this is because it's more optimal for us to see the notes in groups rather than trying to track and press each note with our eyes
I think your rocksmith playing would sound much more fluent with this, and you'll start to become more familiar with patterns if you're very mentally active about looking at them and executing the notes in groups rather than individual strums,
Kinda like reading a bar, we would rather play a whole section than try to read and play each note at a time,
This is how you develop faster sight reading ability,
I recommend aside from rocksmith, playing a really fast paced rhythm game, atleast 6 button,
My pick would be djmax, 6 key mode with joystick swipes, at high speeds, on red star level maps,
After I got into this game my sight reading on rocksmith evolved, it allows me to look at the screen less as well, since rocksmith notes scroll so slowly I have a lot of time to watch my form on the fretboard

It's like guitar hero only with a dedicated community that uploads songs to play,
Rhythm games that use community content for levels are usually top tier, because they have to be free for licensing reasons, making the whole thing more of a passion project, meaning higher quality content.
Edit: I should add, pc rocksmith 2014 has a modding community that makes songs you can play for free, tens of thousands of songs have already been added,
Rocksmith is soon to be removed from all digital stores, making disc versions highly sought after,
You'll either have to buy the game now, or, pirate it later (which if you have any moral issues against it, ubisoft is literally killing rs2014 to push people onto the crappy rocksmith+ game, as well as rs2014 won't be for sale anymore, the only way you can play it is with a digital copy now, )
@joshuamaltez4704 actually clone hero was released in alpha in 2017,
And although you're watching rocksmith 2014, that is the second game in the series, making rocksmith much older than clone hero.

@@Chainbrain I know,, I mean how can you make sense of the numbers coming at you in no particular order and having to look at a separate part of the screen to see what string to play on?? I just can't figure out how you're reading the music in real time..
@@Snowy0123 What do you mean? When I started out, tabs were way more confusing than this simple color coded interface.
@@mongo_sk I've been playing for 20 years so you can imagine trying play using color coded lines is very confusing and unnecessary for someone that's been reading music and tab for 20 years..
@@Snowy0123 Yes, but in the end rocksmith is a tool made for learning guitar and songs, not for someone that has already played for a very long time. They did add in the tablature view though for the latter group, just that most of us that played RS2014 are already used to this look and it's more beginner friendly for new players.
