That was some of my feedback to them, and they said they're always working behind the scenes on new licensing deals. No Metallica is defo a bummer haha
@@agufish They might have an issue with that because I’ve seen the ad on here for “Learn Metallica on Yousician”. Lars might want to keep everything in one place.
I like rocksmith 2014 buuuuuuut one thing I like about the newer stuff is that you can do a monthly subscription and play all the songs you want rather than having to pay for each song.
Honestly pc rocksmith 2014 with custom songs is how I've been doing it for years, rocksmith+ is a pretty big turn off for me being subscription based and all
Agree 100%. I still play pc Rocksmith 2014 quite a bit and haven’t felt a need for a monthly subscription since when I want new songs I just fire up customsforge.
I loved Rocksmith. But Rocksmith+ is missing so much that its really really hard to justify paying monthly for it. It needs all of what it had (games, session mode, etc) to justify having so little guitar standards in the library currently.
I just started my 7 day trial a few days ago. Quite fun. Biggest issue is that, like you I learned guitar listening to old cassette tapes, CD's and later using these funny notepad taps you've mentioned. So far, I'm not feeling like I'm learning guitar, but learning to sight read. So, yeah, not a skill I have, but I'm not sure if I'd call it learning guitar yet. I'm so busy trying to do what all the colourful nonsense on the screen tells me to do that I'm failing to learn the song XD
As someone who’s used RS 2014 a lot, the default way is good to get the muscle memory and movements and such, but the real way to actually learn the song and remember it is by doing “master mode” where the notes disappear so you end up playing it by memory rather than sight reading it. Only way everything actually sticks for me.
Hi @agufish, you offered up a lot of good feedback in your video and we thought you might like to know that we've been able to address a few things you brought up! - Relating to your tuning thoughts at 2:32, we added a virtual Pitch Shifter option in our April update that does now let you stay in one tuning and emulate alternate tunings to play them. So now you're able to stay in E Standard and play songs in Eb without needing any changes in the arrangement. You would still need to tune string for Drop tunings and less common special tunings, but it should make playing all the songs a lot easier. - We've also added a new, more zoomed-in camera option in a previous update which was intended to improve the readability of the noteway (especially on smaller screens) that you mentioned at 3:09 & 5:28. We also expanded our RS Tab option to be available full-screen in an effort to make a better small screen experience if anyone prefers traditional Tab notation. - And finally, we saw in the comments that you were interested in playing Metallica so you might like to know that we were able to add 20 hit Metallica songs this year for most of the world (though they're not currently available in the US & Canada). Though the library in the US & Canada does now uniquely have Metallica's version of "Whiskey in the Jar". Would love to hear your thoughts on if those two updates if you're able to try them out!
Your service is shit, and no one is spending 20$ a month on live service the note highway is awful, 5000 songs of mostly garbage. Yall ruined Rocksmith 2014.
RS 2O14 is actually selling for more than 377$ for the PC version right now (cheapest option on a weird site is 215$). Ubisoft not bringing it back is only feeding : 1_ anger amongst guitar learners when they do know about rs2014 that is still way better to this day when you actually listen to feedback to this day. 2_ PC keys gray market (and I don't even want to think about individual sellers who are profiting a lot from this situation) Shame on Ubisoft, the ultimate video game company of greed, dethroning EA as such.
Have made a couple dozen or so custom songs for rocksmith 2014. Rocksmith 2014 taught me how to play and I'll never give it up. Absolutely love it. I assume Rocksmith + will get better over time hopefully, but for now I'm gonna use 2014.
I've been playing this for a week or 2 and the numbers are way too small! I turned on the tab feature so you can just follow a tab. It's super cool except the songs. They didn't even half ass the songs. They have more than 6000 songs but there's like 3 that you actually want to play.
I've owned RS for a few years but just found it confusing, compared to listening to the songs and reading tabs when needed. However, I gave it another shot now because of all the youtube sponsorships, and this time with a bass (which I'm a novice at). Makes more sense for some reason and it is quite fun. I just really hate that RS refuses to work with my external soundcard/audio interface.
Had the first Rocksmith 10 years ago. I loved it so I got the 2014 version a couple years later. I don’t think I’d pay a subscription for it, but more power to anyone that pays!
I’ve got nearly 1000 hours in Rocksmith 2014 and while there is a slight learning curve to associating strings with different colors it’s been a fantastic way to learn my favorite songs. The game will automatically change your guitar’s tone to match the song throughout, so you can just focus on playing the guitar and if you hit the right notes on time you sound just like the recording. Sometimes I’ll use a different pickup on my guitar just to standout a little more from the recording if I’m feeling it. Riff repeater is one of my favorite features as you can slow the song down and gradually speed up as your accuracy increases, which makes learning complicated solos or getting your timing just right on chord transitions much easier. R14 had video lessons and exercises that are made into pixelated arcade games but honestly haven’t played them much. The game doesn’t replace a real guitar instructor but it’s the perfect addition for helping you practice and improve. I love Rocksmith 2014, because you bought the game and each song or pack of songs once AND get the REAL song that was yours to play. Unfortunately R14 is being discontinued and replaced with Rocksmith+ which has a subscription model 🙄. I mean they kept a lot of the great features from the 2014 version, but you don’t get the REAL song recording in many cases. They’re mostly cover versions of the songs which are pretty good but it’s not the same, and there’s my honest unsponsored review.
I played the xbox version years ago, it was okay. I didn't keep it up on newer xbox as the console offered no lag free output. The thing I always hated though, compared to tabs, the strings on the screen were upside down. I never got used to it
I played a version of Rocksmith on PC a while back and it actually pulled me up from a plateau in my guitar playing. I actually learned to tremolo pick on knights of cyndonia
I'm more inclined to play 2014 Rocksmith with a cord on my home entertainment system, then playing like this. That being said, I think this is a great tool for those who don't have that option. I also hear you on the transposing your tuning on this game, but it would be kind of difficult in my opinion to learn a song and drop D, while playing it in standard tuning. It's not only going to sound completely off to you, it could potentially be teaching you a bad habit, with ear training that way. Now if you are playing it with a cord, plugged in and not through your own sound system, then you transposed it on the game, I could see that working exactly as you would want it too. Great channel and great content.
Got Rocksmith 2014 on PlayStation and i can say that its not worth it... On console. On PC its much better experience. No lag and boat loads of community moded songs. Get 2014 on PC for ultimate Rocksmith experience 😛
Thanks, but Ubisoft decided to brick custom DLC for their 10 year old game so that they could push their new live service version. they wont be getting a dime out of me again.
If you have a smart tv… couldn’t you project it onto there through your phone… or from your phone to your laptop and or tv? I’m looking into it for guitar and piano… does it still have Bass on it?
I play rocksmith 2014 nearly every day, i just really enjoy playing rhythm guitar on it or sometimes bass.Ive bought lots of songs for it over the years, usually a band i like but sometimes just something completely different to try to keep it interesting.
There are a couple of things that I don't like about Rocksmith+ (besides not being available where I live). The fact that it's subscription-based and lack of a career mode like the first game makes it a lacking experience. As other people pointed out, Rocksmith 2014 with Custom DLC is a better option if you want to learn a song, and Rocksmith 2012 if you want a Guitar Hero-like experience.
iv'e played for 16 years i remember when rocksmith first came out my uncle got me it been playing it since mostly the 2014 one its great for cdlc stuff
So in 2017 I started playing and honestly if it wasn't for Rocksmith and UA-cam videos that show the tabs as the music goes by I would not of progressed to the point I now know a setlist of songs at anytime , and it has improved my basic knowledge on chords , scales and just knowing what fits , I was the self taught guy noodling for over 20 years it wasn't until I started playing Rocksmith and learning from UA-camers like you , axe of creation , Xander James , shoot even dovydas I've tooken bits and pieces of inspiration and information whather I've learned how to better my tone or new ideas I've never considered, honestly watching you and Xander aka stay metal ray , you both reminded me that sometimes to simplify is more difficult that to just shred , you guys come up with these smooth bangers with pinch harmonics and what not that just slap sorry qent on a tangent . Rocksmith is absolutely worth it ! To me it's like a version of sheet music and eventually as you get good enough the sheet goes away completely forcing you to use your memory and it's 100 percent of the notes , not always the easiest Way to play it though , most of the time its what the artist is doing but I saw a gojira silvera tab for instance that on Rocksmith was way more difficult than the tab I found online
Well I'm playing it on ps5, and all i can say is it's a way bigger improvement over when it first came out on pc. They add in a lot more A tier songs and even put metallica world wide. I recommend trying out again to see what's new.
I loved the 2014 version. It allowed my wife and I can play together and had an amazing song list and was a lot of fun. The new one has been such a letdown. I bought a year of it when it released only to find out there's no plan for a two-player version the song list hasn't updated since a month after the release. If I could go back now I would have set the money on fire over buying that game again.
I'm genuinely curious...when you say "transpose" what do you mean? Because as an instrumentalist myself (not guitar) when I am playing something in C and my instrument is in B flat, I'm literally adjusting every note a whole step as I read it (and play it). Are you as a guitarist doing something different?
You could in theory play with a pitch shifter pedal and wouldn't need to change tunings. I know that streamers who play Rocksmith use them to not change guitars(just a knob in the pedal and you're good to go).
I have Rocksmith 2014 for PC, but I've never used it. I don't know it just doesn't have the same gripe, even more so when the amp sounds from the game are pretty lackluster, I even own a few DLC and the Cherub Rock DLC (which is necessary for CDLC). I'd rather just learn a song by myself or worst case scenario use Guitar Pro tabs or Ultimate Guitar Pro. Plus the onscreen tabs for Rocksmith aren't always accurate and sometimes the tone is way off, Seven nation army for example should have an Octave pedal engaged during the main riff (technically Jack White uses a whammy and just sets the expression pedal on it to max while having it set to -1 Octave, but it's the same as having an octave pedal)
@@f0rth3l0v30fchr15t the official tabs don't have as much wrong content and if you know the song reasonably well you won't get fooled. Plus tabs are a reference point, not something you should be following religiously, if you don't put the work into adapting stuff as needed or even changing things to better suit your playing, then you aren't fulfilling your duty as a guitarist. Plus it's always good to take out reference points from multiple sources, since even experienced guitarists can and do make mistakes, most of the times you will have the ability to look into multiple tabs, some songs have videos from the artists either showing you how to play or having their hands filmed, you can use DAWs to slowdown playback of songs to notice certain nuances or even to help figure out solos, you sometimes have fairly reputable youtubers teaching these songs, sometimes you'll find interviews with artists telling details that help out. It's all there, you just gotta put the work into searching
I still play 2014 to this day. Main reason im not getting RB+ is the fact it’s subscription based. I get thats common, but i quit WoW for the same reason 😂😂
I haven't tried Rocksmith+, but I played the original and Rocksmith 2014. Other than being really slow to load, the original had the best feature; set list or whatever it was called - you pick multiple songs and you play them one after the other. If you played well, the crowd on the screen would start bopping along and cheering. They even called for an encore. It was great fun. They removed it in 2014 🙁 Found a lot of the lessons annoying as for some reason they wouldn't recognise a lot of what you played, yet songs did. Played on Xbox 360, Xbox One and tried again on Series X. Analogue out on the 360 gave the best experience with no lag. Think all my DLC also disappeared including Jimi Hendrix collection which is really disappointing.
I have Rocksmith for PC and Xbox and the pc version is easily the best. There's no latency with the tone cable connected, unlike consoles. And the custom community is insane with new uploads and tracks almost every day. I still buy dlc from time to time but I can literally just pick what tuning I want to play in and be set for hours. Rocksmith + and it's streaming content never appealed to me because of the ever changing variety of tracks, a pro to some is a con to others I guess.
I like it but the song selection could be way better. And honestly I have better at knowing my fretboard in the sense that I’m looking at the screen not my fingers. I think it’s worth it to at least give it a shot.
Sorry for your loss of time even if it was sponsored. Rocksmith+ is so much better on for and finish than 2014 but man does the song selection suck SOOOO hard. Especially for a game with a sub fee… can’t really recommend anyone use it sadly
Rocksmith+ is DOA, unfortunately. Ubisoft killed it. Rocksmith 2014 community is still thriving with Custom DLC. Still, RS 2014 still has plenty of limitations. Guitar tones in the game aren't the best. But we are happy with what we've got, and it's still an incredible learning tool. Turn off Dynamic Difficulty!

Found a lot of the lessons annoying as for some reason they wouldn't recognise a lot of what you played, yet songs did.
@Agufish there's actually no bass in the song seven nation army.
I just like 2014 more and a mic will never be as good as the cable
I think this will help you out a hole lot.
Part two when?!?!
Dude no way, I just downloaded it and got my cable--but its not booting lmfao
Rocksmith+ is DOA, unfortunately. Ubisoft killed it. Rocksmith 2014 community is still thriving with Custom DLC. Still, RS 2014 still has plenty of limitations. Guitar tones in the game aren't the best. But we are happy with what we've got, and it's still an incredible learning tool. Turn off Dynamic Difficulty!
Problems with it yes but calling it DOA is a little bit emo
Yeah this is a nice features review but upon further inspection gameplay sucks ass on my end. Lol
Say what you want about Rocksmith but it got me to practice for probably 100 hours .... the game-ification works
If I can't project it on a big screen ..it is definitely a No for me 😕
I like it as a game rather than a service
I really wish they’d remake it for PS5 :( i had it for ps3 and loved it, but obviously don’t have my ps3 anymore so it’s useless
all that equipment and he doesn't need it
Rocksmith is Great! Rocksmith plus is garbage.
Still not first lol
Looks like crap 😂 they should have stayed with PC and consoles
Rocksmith 2014 was soooooo much better.
FIRST! :)
