A professional photographer asked me to be his guide on a 6 day hike through the Overland Track in Australia. He specialises in panorama photography, using a Linhof 617. Although many may see film camera as 'old-school' nowadays, once you see the large panoramic prints it produces, you will be blown away by the quality and detail. The Linhof 617 is an amazing camera. Thanks for sharing this video.
The later versions of the 617s III also come with a dark slide option allowing you to switch lenses while the film is on. The ground glass is another great option for perfectionists.
Is it hard to find a lab to make a print from these negatives? Are there negative carriers made for them for an enlarger or I guess you just scan them off a flatbed scanner right? Maybe mask off 4x5 gear to work with it? I would love to try one out.

thankyou for showing the film advancing and that this is an interchangable lens, as not much is on youtube about these panoramic formats.

Check out the work of 617 photographers Stuart Klipper, Gary Irving, Josef Koudelka, Ken Duncan, and Andre Apse. Wonderful format.
I would love to just rent a 6x17 camera for a weekend and shoot some amazing nature shots.

Is the test film exposed or new?
wait... did he just expose the film when taking apart the camera ?
He was using a test roll of film thats already been exposed 👍.
Curious, what kind of enlarger would you need to make a print from this camera?
13x18cm or 5x7"
but what about Fuji GX617? no word of it.
I think we plan on doing a separate video for the Fuji GX617
With such a length of exposed film, isn't there a problem with the film's flatness?
The camera just needs a suitably wide pressure plate.

No shift 😩
there is a shift adapter for the Linhof 617 iii
@@wendelinwehrle4717 I didn't know that, thanks for letting me know.
This is a silly video by someone who hasn't a clue what he's doing.
Long and thin? I wouldn't call 6 x 17 thin!
