Tbf, it's not Ghost's fault that his years of good service and loyalty were repaid with crappy writing. Ghost can't help that the show decided to treat their best direwolf as a useless CGI prop rather than as an actual emotional point for Jon (seriously, abandoning a loyal animal companion should have evoked SOME sad reaction from Jon, certainly more than what we as an audience received).
Instead of the bullshit in episode 3 this is *How I would subvert expectations* have the Night King explain to Jon his motives: Being the white walkers awaken during times of crisis and civil war to unite Westeros against a common enemy and restore peace... idk i just wanted a satisfying ending 🤷🏽♂️
Season 1: Ned Stark gets a spear through the leg from a random soldier - spends the next episode bedridden and clearly unwell Season 8: Brienne, Jaime and Sam are mauled by an army of zombies - get a few bruises and spend the next episode partying and banging
Logically Jaime with his left hand would have trouble beating two normal men on his own. These are inhuman beings who are quicker than humans do not tire and also have weapons. And there was like 50 wights for one person. Jaime should have been killed in 5 seconds. And the others as well.
Don't forget the reason why Jon has ghost in the first place is because he was the albino mute runt of the litter. He was the outcast that shouldn't exist. That connection to ghost is much more significant than direwolves being the sigil of the Starks.

Thank *god* someone mentioned the issue with how the show treated the Direwolves. I've never forgiven the writers for what they did to Grey Wind (Robb's direwolf). In the books, at the Red Wedding, Grey Wind broke out of his 'pen', slaughtered six Frey soldiers to try and get to Robb before eventually being peddled with arrows and dying. He also 'sensed' the Red Wedding and tried to warn Robb (which Caitlyn points out from her POV saying that GW was acting very anxious). THEY ARE GOOD DOGGOS.

The excuse of "patting Ghost goodbye would be too expensive." Isn't founded in reality. There is nothing to it. Give me a green screen and the Wolf/Husky that Ghost is played by and Kit Harirngton and I'd have that shot done after 10 minutes in the editing room. There is no CGI involved. And getting Ghost to "react" the correct way isn't an issue. Getting a dog to react like it's being petted when it's being petted is surprisingly easy. Own up to mistakes D&D.

I find it so odd that all of the other cities on the map are given their city names while the kingdom of Dorne is represented with a single city. I assume it was the Water Gardens, but it could have easily been Sunspear.

The producers said Ghost was "tricky" to film, so they didn't have him on the show more often. By contrast, dragons are very tame and a pleasure to work with on set.
Artist here, it's about the fur. Still, you could have done that with cropped shots and wolf skin. Less beautiful of a cinematic shot, but amazingly cheap and priceless for story-telling.

Also, two generations before that two Stark women were married to their Stark uncles to manage a succession crisis. So yeah, it is common to marry your family in the North.

Actually Lyarras Grandfather was Rickards Great grandfather so Ned is technically his own father's second cousin. I'm not sure there is a word for the relationship between Lyarra and Rickard. Lyarra and Rickards father were cousins so she would be his second aunt (I don't think that is the correct word but I hope it's understandable what I meant)
I have a German Shepherd, he's called Zane. I've had him since he was 11 weeks, he turned two first of March this year. Every morning he smothers me, wagging his tail and making happy noises like he hasn't seen me in days. He comes nearly everywhere with me, he's protected me from a fight, helped me with my mental health, and is my absolute heart and soul. I've had people constantly comment on how nice he is, Hell people have even offered to buy him from me, Zane's loved by almost everyone who meets him. I would be dead if I didn't have Zane And Jon, who had Ghost four times longer than I've had Zane, who have been through Hell and back together, who have fought together, saved and have always been there for each other, just gives him away . . . . . I love these videos. So cathartic. Can we also talk about how Bron's plan itself makes no sense. Even if I was to ignore his ability to enter a private room with two of the most valuable assets to Dany's army... I still need to address the fact that his "plan" doesn't make ANY sense at all. Tyrion and Jaime agree to his terms. So they gave him their word? He has no reason to think nor do Jaime and Tyrion have any reason not to kill him when they now win the day... I don't see how Bron leaves that conversation thinking that he will get what he wants... If Cersei wins, then he didn't kill them... If Dany wins, assuming those two make it out alive, why would they make good on the promise they made for the man that threatened their life? The entire scene is a perfect example of how contrived and nonsensical the writing has become. No aspect of it made a single shread of sense.

Tywin Lannister, the smartest and most powerful character to ever grace this show, dying constipated on the toilet; alone, confused, shocked, and more than a little bit pissed off; is the perfect metaphor for GoT and and its fandom as a whole.
He used a great combination of symbolism a play on words and dare I say visual presentation. To possibly hint at his potential views over Jon and ghosts interaction. Very deep indeed.

That would have been a much better way to reference the books than what they actually did, which was blatantly rip-off The Lord of the Rings. I didn't know much about Game of Thrones before seeing this video, and because of that I didn't have much investment in the story. However, I recently decided to start reading the books, and all I can say is what. The. Fuck. The very first chapter, literally the first taste we get of the story after the prolouge, is about Jon Snow getting his dog. That's how the story starts. That pupper was so important to George that he opened the story with it. It gets worse though. I assumed that the dire wolf was just a loyal companion to Jon and nothing more, but it's so much more than that. In the book (I haven't seen the show so I don't know what's been changed) there was a whole litter of dire wolf pups, and at first there appeared to be five. Jon convinced his father, lord Stark, to keep the pups because there were three males and two females, the same number of children Stark had born in wedlock. Jon internationally left himself out, saying he was not a true Stark. Demeaning himself so that the doggos had a chance at life. But then, a sixth pup was found, one that was albino, and unlike the others had already opened its eyes. This was more than just another pup. This was JON'S pup. The albino skin set it apart from the others, and also meant that it had worse chances of surviving on its own. The members of Stark's household looked down on it, but Jon took the dog into his arms, saying "This one belongs to me". Think about that for a second. Just seconds ago, Jon humbled himself so that his siblings of higher birth could have wolves of there own. Then, a special wolf pup appeared, distinct from the others, it's white skin almost mirroring Jon's shameful surname of snow. The book makes it explicitly clear that these two are meant to be together. They have a bond that goes beyond friendship. It was fate that brought them together. Just think about what it must have meant for Jon in that moment. The mere existence of this pup validates him as a child of Ned Stark. It serves as a sign that he is special, and that he survives against all odds. Not to mention that the dire wolf is the symbol of house Stark. This wolf is not just a companion. This wolf IS Jon Snow. In short, I'm literally only one chapter into the first book, and I can already see ways that the showrunners screwed up the characters beyond repair. Jon would never abandon his wolf, Jon would never leave without saying goodbye, and the writers have shown that they didn't even try to understand the source material. What. The. Fuck.
I never read the books, hell I only got into game of thrones thanks to maulers videos. Fuck that is an incredible connection that jon had to ghost, and its absolutely wasted. Thank you for the insight. Truly
I came back to this video series after finishing ADWD. It is so fucking jarring. Like, the characters have the same names, but that is where the resemblance stops. Varys becoming an unimportant mouthpiece character is just so shamefully cringeful.
When you realize that having the Night King win would have been a more satisfying ending to this show compared to what they've done with it. It would have been shocking, believable, and wouldn't have required them to turn every character into a moron to progress the plot.

Plenty of people say that Euron pales in comparison to his Sorcerer God wannabe in the books but I can't disagree more: Show Euron has a fleet of invisible, teleporting ships that don't bob on the Sea allowing for pinpoint accuracy. If that's not sorcery, I don't know what is!

That balista shot was magical. It was beyond pure fantasy. In medieval time. hell, even in our times, artillery crew needed to have arithmetics in their little finger, years upon years of training with specific siege machine to know it in and out, to get on a level where you can hit a target on semi-regular basis (more in the past that now, but still) Scorpions are new addition to the army as they were not used since last dragon was spotted alive in seven kingdoms. Also, those are upgraded Scorpions, so no man alive ever tasted this thing in a field. On top of that dragons are shown through the show to fly erratically, and even if going in one direction they still are constantly moving up and down. So, Euron is not only the best sharpshooter in the world. But, also have pre-cognition, he was able to hit in rapid succession moving target not knowing the speed, distance or how dragon will behave after being shot.

I personally don't think D&D watch the show I think they just rub shit on their face and do cocaine off Martin's books then cry laughing.
The whole point of this show was that you could look hard into it in retrospect and discover a lot of neat little things like hidden motivations, schemes and choices that led exactly to that certain moment. It was all about the enormous complexity of the world. Now it’s all gone and this show became a joke. All because D&D couldn’t be bothered to put at least some effort into writing the script. Holy shit. Their writing career should end here and now. They should be banished from entertainment for all eternity and be shamed for the rest of their lives for the crime they committed. They fcng murdered GoT adaptation in cold blood.
thoughtout all 6 seasons i loved them then a complete fuck off at the end. i want to strangle the writers, this is what happenes when they cant copy paste from a book. its not martins fault for not finishing the damn books yet, to be a writer....to finish a story and to have the title of fucking WRITERS.............you need to be able to write a beginning a middle and an end and have a fucking clue of all the past material. the writers should not have a job after these two seasons. its like having a BK worker come in as a cars salesman having the title CAR DEALERSHIP MANAGER but get no source material on how to handle the fucking job! Hey just watched the last episode John actually pet's ghost hurrrahhhh! But they still said fuck all to all cast members characters including John's. He is sad depressing and still not king even tho it was hinted that he may become it. I can't look at John the same now if I even watched from the beginning, it's like how they ruined Luke Skywalker for me.... Seeing him in episode 4 or 5 will just make the image of him sucking green titty milk from an alien cow in the future pop into my mind. It's all fucked.
The cutting away of important moments shows that they are mostly just filming the outline at this point. [x] Jon tells Sansa who he is [x] Sansa tells Tyrion who Jon is Check and check, moving on to the next plot point on the outline. No time to linger on emotional beats, relationships, reactions, etc. Just hit the outline points and let's wrap this thing up to move on to Star Wars.
And yet there are still legions of people defending this shit. Its unequivocal shit with some fancy effects and sound. It's some of the worst writing ever committed to screen.

Season 8: Brienne, Jaime and Sam are mauled by an army of zombies - get a few bruises and spend the next episode partying and banging
Well Brienne, Jaime, and Sam kind of forgot they were swarmed by zombies who should have killed them about a dozen times over.
Logically Jaime with his left hand would have trouble beating two normal men on his own. These are inhuman beings who are quicker than humans do not tire and also have weapons. And there was like 50 wights for one person. Jaime should have been killed in 5 seconds. And the others as well.
When the zombies magically vanish when the leader is killed so do all their bites and wounds.
And spends the rest of the season hobbling with a cane. Ya know, as if there are consequences for actions. But fuck that, Brienne gotta get LAID.

Thank *god* someone mentioned the issue with how the show treated the Direwolves. I've never forgiven the writers for what they did to Grey Wind (Robb's direwolf). In the books, at the Red Wedding, Grey Wind broke out of his 'pen', slaughtered six Frey soldiers to try and get to Robb before eventually being peddled with arrows and dying. He also 'sensed' the Red Wedding and tried to warn Robb (which Caitlyn points out from her POV saying that GW was acting very anxious). THEY ARE GOOD DOGGOS.

There is no CGI involved. And getting Ghost to "react" the correct way isn't an issue. Getting a dog to react like it's being petted when it's being petted is surprisingly easy.

The producers said Ghost was "tricky" to film, so they didn't have him on the show more often. By contrast, dragons are very tame and a pleasure to work with on set.
Artist here, it's about the fur. Still, you could have done that with cropped shots and wolf skin. Less beautiful of a cinematic shot, but amazingly cheap and priceless for story-telling.

I have a German Shepherd, he's called Zane. I've had him since he was 11 weeks, he turned two first of March this year. Can we also talk about how Bron's plan itself makes no sense. Even if I was to ignore his ability to enter a private room with two of the most valuable assets to Dany's army... I still need to address the fact that his "plan" doesn't make ANY sense at all.
Tyrion and Jaime agree to his terms. So they gave him their word? He has no reason to think nor do Jaime and Tyrion have any reason not to kill him when they now win the day... I don't see how Bron leaves that conversation thinking that he will get what he wants... If Cersei wins, then he didn't kill them... If Dany wins, assuming those two make it out alive, why would they make good on the promise they made for the man that threatened their life?
The entire scene is a perfect example of how contrived and nonsensical the writing has become. No aspect of it made a single shread of sense.

I didn't know much about Game of Thrones before seeing this video, and because of that I didn't have much investment in the story. However, I recently decided to start reading the books, and all I can say is what. The. Fuck.
The very first chapter, literally the first taste we get of the story after the prolouge, is about Jon Snow getting his dog. That's how the story starts. That pupper was so important to George that he opened the story with it. It gets worse though.
I assumed that the dire wolf was just a loyal companion to Jon and nothing more, but it's so much more than that. In the book (I haven't seen the show so I don't know what's been changed) there was a whole litter of dire wolf pups, and at first there appeared to be five. Jon convinced his father, lord Stark, to keep the pups because there were three males and two females, the same number of children Stark had born in wedlock. Jon internationally left himself out, saying he was not a true Stark. Demeaning himself so that the doggos had a chance at life.
But then, a sixth pup was found, one that was albino, and unlike the others had already opened its eyes. This was more than just another pup. This was JON'S pup. The albino skin set it apart from the others, and also meant that it had worse chances of surviving on its own. The members of Stark's household looked down on it, but Jon took the dog into his arms, saying "This one belongs to me". Think about that for a second. Just seconds ago, Jon humbled himself so that his siblings of higher birth could have wolves of there own. Then, a special wolf pup appeared, distinct from the others, it's white skin almost mirroring Jon's shameful surname of snow. The book makes it explicitly clear that these two are meant to be together. They have a bond that goes beyond friendship. It was fate that brought them together. Just think about what it must have meant for Jon in that moment. The mere existence of this pup validates him as a child of Ned Stark. It serves as a sign that he is special, and that he survives against all odds. Not to mention that the dire wolf is the symbol of house Stark. This wolf is not just a companion. This wolf IS Jon Snow.
In short, I'm literally only one chapter into the first book, and I can already see ways that the showrunners screwed up the characters beyond repair. Jon would never abandon his wolf, Jon would never leave without saying goodbye, and the writers have shown that they didn't even try to understand the source material. What. The. Fuck.
I never read the books, hell I only got into game of thrones thanks to maulers videos.

Euron is a Gary Stu. he does everything perfectly at the perfect time as writers need them.
That balista shot was magical. It was beyond pure fantasy. In medieval time. hell, even in our times, artillery crew needed to have arithmetics in their little finger, years upon years of training with specific siege machine to know it in and out, to get on a level where you can hit a target on semi-regular basis (more in the past that now, but still) Scorpions are new addition to the army as they were not used since last dragon was spotted alive in seven kingdoms. Also, those are upgraded Scorpions, so no man alive ever tasted this thing in a field. On top of that dragons are shown through the show to fly erratically, and even if going in one direction they still are constantly moving up and down. So, Euron is not only the best sharpshooter in the world. But, also have pre-cognition, he was able to hit in rapid succession moving target not knowing the speed, distance or how dragon will behave after being shot.
