- In this premiere episode of my channel's newest series, I dive into the story behind one of the 90's finest pieces of trashy straight-to-video horror: Leprechaun 3 (in Vegas)! I talk about its development and production, as well its legacy, all while providing my own thoughts on the film.

Excellent review, Layton! Thanks for your smart insightful analysis. Yes, I made Lep 3 & 4 for kids, feeling they were getting away with something by watching. Hence its longevity. Thanks for the luv...
The pleasure was mine!
yes!!! same here
Awesome to acknowledge your fans! I love LEPRECHAUN 4! And BMX BANDITS is so much fun!
Good call! I always thought those two were the most fun of the series!
I was one of those kids and I watched it over and over and over and over... :)
Warwick Davis is a treasure. Not seen these films, and not that interested, but it gave him an audience and the fact he embraces them as much as the Star Wars fans is really fucking cool.
Well said!
This is my favorite of the Leprechaun series. Really embraces the tackiness of Las Vegas with the wackiness of the series. And it's funny that Warwick Davis played a nice Leprechaun in the 1998 film "A Very Unlucky Leprechaun."
As someone who's had a lot of experience with straight to video horror trash, I look forward to watching this new series.
Awesome! I'll be looking for recommendations in the future.
This brilliant man has starred in many famous films and shows both in costume and in person, but my simple brain will always go straight to seeing him hosting Tenable whenever I hear his name.
I went to Las Vegas multiple times in the mid to late 2000’s, and I can just picture Warwick Davis walking around in full makeup about a decade earlier. In Las Vegas, it’s unlikely that anyone would even give him a second glance; but the fans would see what’s going on and volunteer for cameos as well. It’s hilarious that they got away with this method of shooting footage, but it’s not far from believable AT ALL, having been there
This movie is pure Straight to Video gold. I love the Vhs Cover of the evil Leprechaun who's invading Las Vegas.
lolll i remember rented this back in the day! ahhh my childhood vhs era📼☘️☘️
This one is special to me because I remember watching it with my grandpa who has since passed, while I spent the weekend there as a kid.
Leprechaun 3 has always been my Favorite in the Franchise.
The series is a great rainy day watch for me.
11:23 "Each of them crafted with love and passion" - I would love to see RedLetterMedia gang reacting to this sentence :D Cool vid dude!
Frankenfish, a man after my own heart
I am glad to see your channel starting to get some traction - you were at about 12k this time last year or so. You are one of the best (horror) media analysis channels out there, all the best!
Nice timing! I have never seen any of the leprechaun movies, but just recently bought the Blu-ray collection on sale. I've already watched the first two and love them, leprechaun 3 is next on the list! Good times! :-)
This was awesome! I love Leprechaun! Can't wait for Pinocchio's Revenge and Rumpelstiltskin! Also looks like there might be an episode on my favorite Werewolf movie Bad Moon?!
Yes, yes and yes!
@@LaytonEversaul Hell Yeah! (Nic Cage Voice)
3 was always my favorite as well and is easily the most rewatchable.
Whenever I think of STV 90s movies, Pinocchio's Revenge and Rumplestiltskin come to mind and I love that you showed them in your intro! Also "The Fear" with the wooden puppet. Hope to see tons more of these since I'm a 90s kid and STV VHS horror helped make me a horror geek
I hope I don't disappoint!
@@LaytonEversaul You never have! Always excited :)
Saying there were no "good" films in the franchise is subjective. Part 3 in Blu-ray looks like it came out in theaters but maybe back then straight to video quality was better back then lol.
I like this new addition to your channel. Any excuse to see more of your hard work of film history is as sweet as a Shamrock Shake. ☘
I remember sneak watching it as a kid like you said and the stomach popping scene scared the hell out of me lol
i browsed your shelves at 10:03: M, La Dolce Vita, The Manchurian Candidate (62) etc. and now . . . Leprechaun 3. You've got range no doubt. Dig your stuff, really well made, keep it up.
Another great video! Never disappointed with anything you upload! Looking forward to more of this new series.
Some recommendations for the DTV series.
Night Of The Demons 2
Pumpkinhead 2
Proteus
American Cyborg Steel Warrior
Rumpelstiltskin
Return Of The Living Dead 3
Dagon
Werewolf
The Howling sequels
The Dentist
Hellraiser Inferno
Ghoulies 3
Great suggestions! There's a few in there I need to see.
looking forward to this series. i always like your thesis style of presentation. keep going bro.
Fantastic video. This film series is utterly confounding in so many ways, not least among them being Leprechaun goes to space - a trope widely understood to mark the death of a franchise - in part 4, and then goes to “tha hood” *twice* in 5 and 6.
I might be alone in this but I think Ice-T does some of the best work of his whole damn life in “Leprechaun In Tha Hood.”
Leprechaun 3 is the best out of all of them, IMO.
The best Leprechaun, for sure!
Definitely a lot of gold! I am so pleased that someone out there appreciates the LEPRECHAUN franchise like I do. Can you make a video on LEPRECHAUN 2? I remember the theatrical release was only in LA and never made it to San Francisco, where I lived at the time. I couldn’t wait to watch it on VHS. I do know that the actor who portrayed Morty (Sandy Baron) was in Woody Allen’s BROADWAY DANNY ROSE (1984) as the himself, who told the story within the movie, may he Rest In Peace. Great video! You’ve gained a new subscriber. Love your research on the HALLOWEEN films.
I absolutely love the Leprechaun series, all of these movies are awesome, cheap and sleazy, but awesome! especially if you watch them stoned. lol my personal favorite is Leprechaun in the Hood. Layton you should consider doing a 'Straight to Video' review of one of the Wishmaster films, that horror series is so underrated.
I'll definitely be covering those.
Love this concept. Anything to get more frequent content!
Great episode and I am excited for the new series. So much potential for some fun future installments.
Oh yes ....
This and the first one are my fav
This was a great watch! Keep it up.
Very cool would still love a retrospective on Leprechaun 1 too.
I plan on it at some point!
Awesome new series!
2 and 3 are the best
This new series is going to be great. Been waiting to see you cover some good old American schlock.
I’ve yet to see Leprechaun 3. I gave up after 2. But I may have to check it out. Was getting some Troll 2 vibes and I mean that in a good way.
As for suggestions, maybe you could cover some of the Puppetmaster films or maybe a personal favorite of mine. Munchie starring Loni Anderson, Dom Deluise, and a debuting Jennifer Love Hewitt. It’s a Jim Wynorski film. He had also directed the Swamp Thing sequel and brought a lot of b list cast members and crew to work on Munchie. It’s a fun kids movie with a musical score you’ll be humming for years.
Not sure why this popped up on my home page but here I am
Awesome work. I love your videos!
Same. Great stuff
I absolutely love the Leprechaun series. Especially Leprechaun 3: the Vegas One lmao. I would love to see a video on Troll. The first one with the OG Harry Potters
That could be a good one. It's really been overshadowed by Troll 2.
@@LaytonEversaul my sentiment EXACTLY ! I hope to see another one of your videos soon. New to the channel.but have been binging the Jaws and Halloween sequel videos and just watched the one on Grindhouse. Awesome work, man. Keep it up 🤙
I loved this one. It's a shame that Lee Armstrong quit acting ... she was really good.
True. She was amazing in this movie.
Don't think the 2nd one got released in the cinema in Ireland either. Another great video Layton. Just watched Caroline Williamson in TCM 2 and saw her again recently in one of the Hatchett sequels.
My parents let me buy this as a 10 year old. Definitely the high point of the series...although that's not saying much.
i would love more of these! what other straight to video horror movies would you recommend?
Rumpelstiltskin (1995)
Jack Frost (1997)
Wishmaster 2
Castle Freak
Subspecies
Uncle Sam (1996)
Hatchet
... Just to name a few.
Whenever I think about this series, this is the one I think about...okay, that's not exactly true, it's both of the Hood movies because wtf lol, but this is the one that I watched the most and will revisit. Also, of all of the Vegas movies out there, this is the only one to make me actually want to go there lol.
Im happy you're able to do smaller scale reviews but still look at movies you like. Hope you can get to Tremors 2, Puppet Master and Wishmaster sequels.
They're all on the table!
I'd love to see Layton tackle Sleepy Hollow High, a personal straight-to-video favorite of mine!!
@@PhantosTheHedgehog I've never seen it, but I'll check it out! Thanks.
Nice idea with straight to video
The potential is endless ...
for some reason I always thought the lady whose lips swelled up was part 2
it seems I remember this one a lot and barely remember part 2
For some reason part 2 has always been he one I'm least familiar with, but it's still a fun watch.
Hey ever thought of doing a video on silver bullet. I feel like that’ll have cool behind the scenes with haim and busey. Also, building of the silver bullet and where is the classic prop today?
can't wait for that Rumplestiltskin video
Kyle Hoschar Another entry in the fairytale themed horror trend of the 90's.
@@justindenney-hall5875 I watched that movie way more times than it deserved.
THIS IS MYYYYY KINDA WORLD!!!!!
@@kylehoschar5309 "Snow White : A tale of terror" (1997) is the only good example of those I've seen.
I'm surprised to see so many who know that movie haha. Excited to talk about it!
DID I JUST SPOT “GRAMPIRE?!”
I have to agree part 3 is my favorite of the series followed by part 4. I think Waxwork II: Lost in Time would be an excellent choice to review.
Personally I loved Leprechaun Origins. I’d love to see you do something on that one.
Damn, Tammy... :))
I’m marathoning the Leprechaun franchise on Peacock right now, and after being slightly amused but mostly unimpressed with the first two, I actually really enjoyed Leprechaun 3 and the 90 minutes flew by like nothing 👍
Tobe Hooper’s Crocodile. I rented that crap an unholy amount of times from Hollywood Video.
It's A Pot Of Gold!
Killer Klowns from Outer Space might be good for this series, From Beyond, and Frankenhooker too please :)
You're the best.
Leprechaun 3 is a mega 😎 awsome pot 🍯 of gold all 5 🎥🍿 movies are super well made classics too bad that movies like those are no longer made but we have treasures like these for us to keep enjoying for ever and ever. The actor who played the leprechaun character is for sure one of the funniest ever.
They’re not straight to video, but you should consider doing either Orca or Critters!
I think, eventually, the "Straight to Video" title will have a very loose meaning, so those would be good ones!
great flick great video u made please do one of the night of the demons movies next.
Great videos man but love the lep
Could you do Howling 2 for this series? It got a theater release, but really found its audience on video. Plus it was film in a communist country at the time, which I hear was a nightmare for the crew, and I think would be quite fun to learn about.
It's definitely on the table! One of my favorite cheesy 80s horror movies.
Do you know if abominable was theatrically released as I adore that film ?
Such a guilty pleasure 😆 .
💯💯💯
I Iiked the first 3 Leprechauns..Warrick Davis is great...i been meaning to watch the recent remake
💌 Fanfuckintastic episode ‼️‼️‼️ Never saw it - now i wants toooooooo
Subspecies !!!
Surely die hard fans should be watching die hard?
Please please please do Uncle Sam
That's my 4th of July video for sure.
Gonna need more ofthese direct to video retrospectives....
I'm narrowing down my options for my next one. Might pick a holiday themed horror.
3:01 is when I knew I liked girls
Like you stated, so many ,"Leprechaun" movies and they all suck. This one and 'In The Hood" are passable I guess.
😀💚😀
Travesty your not at 100k at least. You deserve it. Although 50,000 subs is still impressive
Hold up, point of order. If the series will be titled "Straight to Video," how can you include films that had a theatrical release? Isn't the advantage to the TR'ed (at least perceived) to have had some publicity? It would be a dishonor to the real Straight to Video longshots. They had to be scrappy, to cling and claw and clamor their way into our hearts. From streets to sheets, as it were.
You ask is iit a pile of gold or a pile of garbage?
Why its a pile of golden garbage of course!!
EXACTLY! It's so much fun. I love it.
