    God bless you Casey. 35years ago somebody gave me a hands up. To help me buy my first house. At the age of 19 with a pregnant girlfriend. @@CaseyLaDelle Those 'payday' loan places really prey on people that are down and have no other option and do not understand how bad the deal is. That kind of interest rate used to be called usury. Not if you pay off the right politicians to slip something into an unrelated bill to legalize them. I am sure they were salivating waiting on the day he did not make an interest payment and could make out like bandits on the coin collection. My parents were very smart and capable but I had to help them with financials during the last few years of their life. Thankfully they had enough savings we were able to pay for the assisted living/ nursing home expenses when it was needed.

      @@CaseyLaDelle Hell yeah! Those Pawn and Pay-Day loans are legal loan-sharking! Years back my "future-ex-wife" was constantly under-water with a pay-day loan. I finally talked her into let me pay off the pay-day loan and she pay me at no interest. Took a lot of effort to get across how many times over the original loan would be paid off before beating the loan sharking trapped could succeed!

    This video is the all too perfect example of an uphill battle. People are struck by bad luck, one way or another, and then life is like scrambling against a sand dune: with every attempt to climb, the sand slides and basically drags you down.

      For most it’s not bad luck. It’s credit card debt and simply because most lives over what they actually had. And this will become much crazier in the coming years. And if you are a Vet and fought in these crazy wars and participated in these evil military crusades don’t be surprised if you get what a lot of them get. And yes I know they were just following orders. As a German I heard that before…

    You are a kind person Casey. Is Rodney connected with the local VA clinic and veteran service officer/office? There may be other veteran-specific services and assistance that Rodney may be eligible for. There may also be veteran-specific housing assistance for him. The VA funds a nation-wide program called Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF). SSVF's main goal is to house low-income homeless veterans and provide case management to gain housing stability. Just a thought.

It was also really good of Cesar to do the mechanical repairs at no charge. I really have mixed emotions , I feel good that Rodney is receiving help and yet I feel bad that he is in this situation. Our society isn't near as bad as the media makes it seem they sell doom and gloom because fear and division keep us as a society from banding together and making the government hold to their promises they made kids years ago that's why you'll never see a politician wearing a 22 a day bracelet but I suggest checking them out buying some bracelets to pass around to bring awareness or just make a tax deductible donations to a great cause till they have to change the name to 0 a day and find another need for the funds

    Rodney needs to talk to his local veteran service organization.
    Is his dialysis done at a VA facility or under a medical order from the VA like via the Choice program?
    If it is, he can get paid for mileage. Travel pay for veterans is authorized for certain percentage of diability.
    Definitely get him in touch with someone from Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, or Veterans of Foreign Wars because they can get his rating re-evaluated for stuff like his kidneys, b/c if he needs dialysis 3x a week, he should be rated at 100% disability by the VA.
    "100 percent: If you require regular dialysis or the symptoms of your kidney disease are so severe that you are capable of only sedentary activity due to decreased function of kidney or other organ systems, especially the cardiovascular system, your disease will be rated 100 percent." If he's getting $1600/month, thats a 70% rating. 100% rating would double his monthly disability pension.

    So frustrating - cities taking away folks' homes and leaving them to live in less-safe tents or under bridges. That makes things worse! Just having a lockable door so you don't lose what little you do have is comforting. So many people live this way, chasing after the next check and getting further behind. Thank you to all the patrons who make this human rescue possible.

      I understand the city's part it's hard to sell property to young families wanting to live in a small community and commute to their job in the big city or work in the small community with campers and RVs multiple blocks deep without electric water or sewage hookups the city was nice and put toilets and dumpsters up and footed the bill for quite awhile but all the vacant land is costing them property tax every year it's not sold pumping the port-a-potties and emptying dumpsters that fill a garbage truck a piece neither of those is cheap if I rolled up in my camper in front of your property and by months end there was 20 and in 3 months there was no street parking along 10 blocks of the street you lived on how long would you allow that not knowing anything about the people because they're too ashamed to volenteer information about themselves because after a long day trying to find their next meal and public shower they just want to be left alone

    I lived in Eureka, CA, for several years (college at Humboldt State U. 1989-1992). There was a homeless camp on 22 acres on south Humboldt Bay. The owner had inherited the land that was marshy and basically worthless so he let a community of about 200 people live there in tents and RVs. The landlords in Eureka told the county to evict the homeless and then pay a subsidy for them to live in their 'rentals' (many slums) which the people did not want to do. Follow the money on moving those who do not want to be tied down with renting and leasing a place to live. It is all about the money....

    • @davidwoermansr
      @davidwoermansr Рік тому +1

      In this case it's about the lack of money they're not being given a choice to live in government housing just told it's closing time you don't have a home to go to but you can't stay here
