Or "crane lift the whole thing" - you had enough height. I wrote you back awhile ago and you didn't respond - not speaking to me anymore? Did I offend?
First of all, my boom is not long enough to grab the tongue without the cable digging to the tent. Likewise, my boom is not long enough to lift the whole thing without my cables or slings crushing in on the tent. And finally, since we’re on the short boom subject… My boom only extends 3’ past the end of my wheel lift at zero degrees elevation. When raised high enough to lift the camp trailer onto the Uhaul it would probably extend 2’ past the wheel lift at most. And last time I checked, trying to set a 6’ wide item onto the center of an 8’ wide item with only 2’ of reach, doesn’t really work out so hot… This is not a modern wrecker with a full length extension tube and an integrated underlift that folds up out of the way. This is a worn out and old truck from the 80’s that I use to get the job done as best I can with what I have.
Also, as far as writing me back, I have no idea who you are or what you’re talking about…. So no, I am not offended at something I don’t know you said.
Also, for anyone else reading this…. PLEASE do not call my business phone to tell me how I should have done something different in a UA-cam video. But if I answer and it’s a call about UA-cam, I’m going to politely direct you to the contact link on my website and then end the conversation there. Rory has Mike and Shawn , Casey has Grumpy , " we'll act like we know what we're doing , it'll be fine " , that's what makes your channel awesome ( at least part of what makes it awesome ) . Have an awesome day everyone !
Casey I for one am stunned you don't grow a longer boom on that tow truck. Just get some Miracle Gro fertilizer, mix in some metal filings, add enough WD-40 to make a paste and smear it all over the boom. Pad with plain Brillo pads and wrap with metalized duck tape. Be sure to work with the grain so the boom grows longer, not wider. Of course, it is late in the boom growing season so you may want to wait until next Spring.
I always love the reactions to "no charge", as I paid around $1,500 in the John Day area a couple years ago after breaking through the snow crust. You truly do save people's vacations on a regular basis.
Good to see you again, Grumpy. I'm glad that because of our watching, it gives you enough support to help people out, "Free of Charge." I've said it before, and I will say it again, Casey your just a great dude.
Hey Grumpy is back !! Yippie yaahoo! Glad he is doin well. I don't know much about them lil camper travel type trailers. But it seems that if it's advertised as overland / off-road capable then it should be made with axles twice that size and a stronger suspension. Just this ol'man's pennies worth of thoughts ! Thanks Casey for letting us ride along with Y'all and take in the nice scenery along the way. Stay safe and Blessed Sir ✌️❤️🙏
i do wonder how much of this could be from overinflating the trailer tires. offroad with a trailer that light and tires that big you could probably run the trailer at like 6-9 psi so it doesn't get jostled around as badly over bumps. if you run the trailer at 40 psi it'll be bouncing along behind you like a leaf in the wind.,
Skin so Soft by Avon for Mosquitoes. 1985 my buddy rolled his Land Cruiser down a ravine about an hour outside of Bishop, CA. We got it back on its wheels and buried a tire for a pick point to winch from. The only tow service in the area charged $500 for a 1 hour each way and 15 minutes of winching. All he did was pull the levers. Thanks Casey & Grumpy!
I had a question but it was answered in the pinned comment. Good to see Grumpy and the old ford out working again. I still love it when you say no charge and people don't believe it, haha
Always glad to see Grumpy out. You guys rock! I did help my brother ocasionally with his towing company in the Chicago area. It's hard rewarding work. We couldn't do it for free...was way before UA-cam. I have pulled people out of snowy ditches a bunch of times with my Blazer and now my 4Runner. Usually free, sometimes for beer money. Can't leave someone in the cold in Northern WI or the UP if I can help...
I love Big Lake! been camping/boating there more than 60 years. climbed hay rick butte, Mt Washington, and three-fingered jack. hiked in all directions. fabulous country!
An old fisherman's mosquito repellent is Avon's Skin So Soft. It's a bath oil product that we have found effective -- keep a small bottle in the tackle box and put a little on our hands to wipe on bare skin. Been using it for 40+ years!! Thanks for the videos 🙂
Thing is these don't have an axle usually, independent suspension. I'm guessing they get caught on the passenger side because it's the blind side, and unlike a traditional axle just deflecting or bending, it breaks
Hey Casey, love watching your channel. I learned from an old timer many lifetimes ago, that eating garlic helps. I take a garlic pill (1000mg) two a day, which helps greatly at keeping the mosquito bite to a minimum. 17:20
And I forgot to mention. I apologize grumpy. Good to see you out there again give him directions so he can do the job right. And may God be with you and guide you to, God bless both of you.
Casey you must have read my mind. I was thinking that you haven't had "Grumpy" on the scene lately. Glad he is able to assist you on another adventure.
To see the reaction when you say it’s free is worth all the time I spend watching your videos! It’s the coolest thing. And I get good content besides. Keep up the good work. Really enjoy your videos.
I'm not sure if your wife is allergic to it, but Avon makes a product called Skin So Soft which was never intended to be a mosquito repellent, but was found to work well as such. Hopefully this helps. Thank you for the interesting content. I always learn from your videos.
@larryjohns8823 I've never personally used it, just always heard people talking about it. I'm a straight Deet guy lol. Deep Woods or stronger if I'm using it at all
I use a thermacell . Keeps them about 15' away here in the northeast. They have one you attach to your belt or ones that sit around your deck. Get a couple put them 10 to 15 feet apart. Works good for us.
Being a backpacker and getting into a sleeping bag for multiple nights without a shower, I started wearing Permethrin treated clothing to not have to dab myself in sunblock and any bug juice and have it stay on my skin for a week or more. It worked so well I still do this in everyday life too. I highly recommend lightweight shirts (they make em with hoods too) treated in Permethrin. You can even buy a bottle of it and treat your Cascade Heavy Rescue shirts yourself. It's not made of Deet so it may work for you and your wife. Good luck!
Love your videos, Casey. About mosquito repellent…I am VERY allergic to DEET - the chemical used in most repellents. There is a company called California Baby which makes all natural products including a bug repellent. I use it with NO negative reactions. I don’t think that it will prevent all bites (mosquitoes seem to love the taste of my blood), but this spray really reduces the amount of bites.
The best weve found for Minnesota mosquitoes is pure (NOT EXTRACT) peppermint oil from the health food store. Carry it in a small pump spray bottle from Wally World travel section. The French Voyageurs swore by eiher that or bear greese. Your wife will like the peppement oil the best! Just don't get it in your eyes!
Years ago, I lived on the Georgia coast which had a very small gnat that must have been all mouth given its bite. They were known as “no-see-ums”. All the locals used 50% Avon’s Skin So Soft mixed with 50% water as a repellent. Don’t know if it works on mosquitoes but I notice that Avon now markets a mosquito repellent, may want to check out the active ingredients for it.
Great to see Grumpy back again! It was a nice recovery Casey., little bumps on in my ge road, literally, lol. But you got it on, and No leaks. Casey, no one expected it’s gonna be Free, but to their Surprise, it was! It’s a unique situation where your UA-cam channel compensates you, allowing you to do it for Free. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that they’re Surprised that it is. Love your channel and contents. May your channel continue to grow! And again, Welcome back Grumpy, missed you and glad your recovery is getting better.🤙😎
Great rescue again Casey. Tea tree oil, lemon eucalyptus oil, all natural and gentle on skin. Always works for me, I have severely damaged lungs and those are the only things I’ve found that effective with minimal side effects. Also I’ve heard that Avon’s skin so soft is really good too. Hopefully these will work for you all without causing your wife’s asthma to flare🙏🏻 P.S. Always good to see Grumpy out on your adventures👍🏻
Avon Skin So Soft contains Picaridin that Avon added that makes it work. The product's active ingredient, picaridin, is a synthetic repellent modeled after a compound that occurs naturally in the black pepper plant.
Those off road trailer axles just are not heavy duty enough to handle the weight and off road bumps. We all have seen several of these trailers on other channels that have snapped an axle in the same location. Good job Casey and Grumpy. I hope that you are feeling well now! I use Deep Woods Off botanicals , it is a plant based repellent. Thanks Casey and Grumpy!👍💯
Wonder what pound capacity axle they put under them. Time to get a heavier capacity one, maybe even custom made! Oh, and I don't like the easy lube axles; just another weak point any time you drill a hole in something solid.
Glad Grumpy is back with you, and it's still awesome you charge nothing, in our world today when some says nothing it's free it's hard to believe. Thank you for helping others.
Mix witch hazel, peppermint oil, lavender oil, and tea tree oil. There is a sometimes locally sold one that works awesome that has these things in it, that I need to get more of. Keeps ticks, mosquitoes, etc off better than big name bug sprays with deet in it. Or try fly spray meant for horses and livestock, we would use that on ourselves and our horses on our ride across Michigan.
Avon has a Skin so soft oil. I have had asthma , I also have COPD Extreme stage 4 and I do fine using skin so soft. They sale it in a large bottle of oil, or tubes of gel. Good luck.
Or you could have hooked to the U-haul trailer where you were and pulled it over to line up with the disabled trailer without moving the wrecker. Also thank you for what you do. Telling the customer its free gives you a feeling that is worth more than a tow fee.
I'm not sure what part of "normal" repellent your wife is allergic to, but you might try a picaridin based repellent if the issue is deet. I have had good luck with it and you can get it in lotion form which I prefer to the sprays. Definitely not a natural repellent but it's an alternative I wasn't aware of until recently
👍great to see the fam (grumpy)with you on this one casey and the job you did on you wrecker really paid off on this job for sure!! I guess the next step would be to add some [custom] cup holders for your convenience lol😂 Super job using mother nature to lend a hand and usin what you got when you need it..🎆 Slick job lining it up and loading it up for sure, it shows all your years of experience!☆🎉😉 I hope y'all have a great week, & I'll B keepin an 👁out 4 ya...🤭 🐌☕🐢
omg you skipped 1½ hour of you and Grumpy discussing windshields dirtiness? I am dissapointed now Casey 😛 Grumpy: Oh it's an off the road trailer... Me: It is an off the wheels trailer now :D Napalm works great on skeeters... spray it and light it
Urgh. Mosquitos. 😐As someone that spent a lot of times in the woods, we just covered up or used Grandma's weird catnip spray. My friends have told me a good one is oil of lemon eucalyptus. I checked back when they told me and it did pop up quick in a search but I'm not sure if it would bug your wife. Great video as always. Love the reactions when they finally realize it's free. Hopefully that puts them in a good mood, and they remember it, so they will pass something forward some day.
Casey, just a question. Would it have been possible to put the wheel lift of your tow truck under the back of the trailer and then run the boom over top to the hitch, so you could lift the entire trailer and set it where you wanted it? Or is there some reason that wouldn't work that we didn't see on the video? The way you did worked just fine. Just curious. Thanks
When you lined up to the back of the trailer, I thought you were going to put the underreach under the back of the trailer and lift the front with the boom/cable over the top of the trailer.. Probable a bit too much hanging off the back end.
Great recovery fellas! You should keep 2 bits of that log about 12 to 18 inches long each and use them as rollers for when "you picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel" comes on the radio 😂😂
People who suffer from scents like your wife does, I feel for her. It doesn't have to even be an unpleasant smell So many perfumes, deodorants and so on can trigger it. I think your best bet is a shop, with a shower and a washer and dryer. Just get all cleaned up before you go into your home.
2 years ago I thought the skeeters didn't like me any more. i wasn't getting bit..... Or so i thought.. They are still biting, I'm just not having a reaction. Not getting itchy red bumps Is the greatest thing ever. no need to cover up or put on repellent. It's good.
You sir are an awesome person!!! I'm sorry I'm not a patreon but I have enjoyed your videos for over 2 years now. From 406 Garage to Nate and Yankum Ropes, you are authentic! The Real Deal!!! I'm 67 and have seen many a person just attempt what you are but you sir, are REAL! Thank you for all the great adventures and content that makes my day. Please, PLEASE, don't stop! Thank you!!!
Always a fun outing when you & Grumpy creatures chuckles! Try vitamin B-12 (lol!). As a former avid trout fisherman & a Builder, I always seemed to get nailed (worse problem with "no-see-ums"!), so I added the pill to my seasonal intake... Kinda forgot being in a bit disabled, but started taking it again for help with neuropathy a 1.5 years ago. Last year trying to work in the yard & woods, I realized I wasn't getting bothered (originally thought my effort to keep stagnant water eliminated was working, lol!), but my son was helping me & he was getting nailed, with spray & I wasnt, without spray... Working so far this year & I'm on a lake in W. Michigan. Great recovery & service, & nice scenery too! Thanx !
Awesome to see you and Grumpy back together again! I believe that Avon makes a product called Skin so soft, not sure what it's intended purpose is, but it's supposed to work really well as a mosquito repellant.
A few years ago, working at tree planting camps, I mixed a sun tanning oil with citronella oil. I added a little Muscol repellant. It works really well. You could probably drop the Muskol. My brother, when he was in the Yukon used citronella oil straight but he said it would make your skin peel.
Good grief you did that the hard way!

Coffee ground .....fabric sheet......
N nice job loading trailer on trailer 😊
Coconut oil works really good for insect repellent. No smell a little greasy but bugs hate it.
Thank you for another awesome rescue. 😊
Thank you, Casey, for sharing this with us. You are one of a kind in a good way, Sir. I wish I lived closer, later.
Beautiful up there - thanks for sharing. And nice to see the wrecker again for sure.
Rolling dirty overland. Good dude.
Great to see Grumpy back!
Should have used that log as a roller to get the trailer loaded.
omg you skipped 1½ hour of you and Grumpy discussing windshields dirtiness? I am dissapointed now Casey 😛
Grumpy: Oh it's an off the road trailer...
Me: It is an off the wheels trailer now :D
Napalm works great on skeeters... spray it and light it
Urgh.
Thanks
Booms too short
This was my exact thought too but it sounds like there was a good reason after all
If the guy had a welder and the skill he may have been able to get himself out. Probably would have been stronger than when he started the trip.
Hope your channel continues to grow.
Grumpy had to pee, he’s way braver than me 😂😂😂😂
Well done sometimes a hunk of log is a great help.
When you lined up to the back of the trailer, I thought you were going to put the underreach under the back of the trailer and lift the front with the boom/cable over the top of the trailer.. Probable a bit too much hanging off the back end.
Casey just replied to a similar post saying boom wasn’t long enough to reach over the camper.
Great recovery fellas! You should keep 2 bits of that log about 12 to 18 inches long each and use them as rollers for when "you picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel" comes on the radio 😂😂
Fantastic work as always! You should print up a card with a few places the customer could donate to that you support if they want to.
In the 60's I went to a youth camp on the east side of Big Lake. Remember hiking out to a ridge that had a great view of Mt. Washington.
It's good.
thank you...
Thanx !
Good job. God bless you both and your family’s and your friends all the time.
Grumpy is an asset to this channel.
We love it when Grumpy gets to go with you on recoveries.
Awesome to see you and Grumpy back together again! I believe that Avon makes a product called Skin so soft, not sure what it's intended purpose is, but it's supposed to work really well as a mosquito repellant.
Great to see Grumpy back on camera. Grumpy you are a tough old cuss. ❤ . Much respect sir. Be nice to see more of the wagon train exploration.
A few years ago, working at tree planting camps, I mixed a sun tanning oil with citronella oil. I added a little Muscol repellant. It works really well. You could probably drop the Muskol. My brother, when he was in the Yukon used citronella oil straight but he said it would make your skin peel.
