Wow you got patience... when it comes to panel gaps I could never do that I'll just pay somebody lol... It looking good man ...can't wait see it painted
Dan, from where I sit the hood gap at the cowl is uneven. Start with the cowl gap, it will move the front of the hood to the right, should help with the fender gap/hood alinement. Again, from where I sit.
Seems like the more you use a spray gun you enjoy it more & more .Very rewarding to spray something one color becomes more interesting the more you do it and in return you get less lazy with bodywork and painting. You do realize its really not rocket science and that hard at all as you always say,HA! Great Job looks nice all one color !You are an Inspiration!
The first thing I do with any spray gun is make sure the vent is open, one of the biggest reasons for poor spray gun performance. I usually will take a 1/4 inch drill bit and open the vent(leave the 2nd vent alone or use a smaller drill bit) and open it up. I've gotten a few guns because people thought their gun is junk--it just couldn't breath!
Moving forward! Another piece of the puzzle closer to the finish line. A splash of coffee, waiting for rust convertor to dry. Patching a floor today. 1/4 panels next week. That has to be my favorite Grille, need to find a wall hanger… Impressed with the hood gap. Better than factree i bet! Why use a bolt when you have a welder! Priceless!!
What a great job you are doing on the Nomad. I know you hate body work but love that you are spending the extra effort with this rebuild. It looks great I know you will enjoy it for years. Congrats on saving another piece of automotive history!
I told you you would love it. And you don't have to be terrible at body work, that's what the pros use. And now that you're using it.....I guess you're a pro. Grind metal coarse for adhesion, bondo dents, DA w/40#, metal treatment, hi-build, guide coat, block....fix boo boos...paint
if/when you make a video of the whole build process the gravity of what you have done here will be more apparent to those who lack the patience to watch each episode. great work, dan.
I can't believe the progress you have made on this car. Most people would have said no way can you fix that piece of junk but look at it now it's beautiful. You gave the old girl a new life. That's what I like about this channel. Good job Dan.
Dan, Please, give yourself more credit!!!!! (Ask me how I know.) Dan, (MY opinion) '55/'56 Chevys look better with the hood bird on..... I guess there is a subtle difference between the '55 & '56 Chevy rad supports? At any rate, you made quick work out of that conundrum.. You've done VERY well with this forgotten ride!!! Keep bringing it !!!!!
She is looking awesome Dan. The grille the hood the badges etc. she is coming together nicely. Remember Greens Nice. LOL. From your fan in little old New Zealand.
I hate when that happens ! Makes rattle cans look like heaven ! Vent , very important ! Worked out awesome ! Looking better , all the time , Dan ! That hood really sets it off , the whole car is starting to come into focus , as a complete vehicle . Quite the "transformation " ! Rock On DD Speed Shop !
Here's a Hot Rodder hood headache story. I put a v8 radiator in the front V6 position on my 57 Bel Air, which jammed the hood against the radiator cap. I had to cut a square flap to relieve the jam, so welding that hole is one of my upcoming projects. It's always something when you are hot rodding.
Great work Dan…truly a “rustoration project” to be proud of…love the car and what you’ve accomplished so far. I hate the fender headers but personal preference. 👍
Awesome video dude! I’ve been doing such things on the other side of the pond for more than 40 years, and I always appreciate more education from a fellow fettler- cheers!
One thing to add is allow time for shrinkage because it IS going to shrink. put some left over high build in a paper coffee cup and let it sit for a couple weeks. you will see shrinkage . Over a couple months its even more evident. All in all, it is a great product. Best I have used is called "Featherfill". It actually is resin with a fibreglass type hardener.
The only problem with Featherfill is that it can crack easy or can "bridge" and blister. Like someone told me once it is like a hard candy shell I used it on one of my projects and had issues that I'm snakebit now. Originally it was recommended for Corvettes and works good on them because they are fiberglass and expand different than a metal car. If you do use it, make sure it goes over epoxy primer and not self etching primer.
Hi Dan , oh man , this Nomad sure looks MUCH better than the day you brought it home. Your work is SURE paying off. I LOVE the look of the 55 Nomad and i can't wait for the day when you take it for a ride down the street. Thanks for sharing
Can't wait to see it painted... Tech tip small buckets on table for all the STUFF. Like UTG says cluddered space cluddered mind.. good luck it always a battle.
Great video car is looking wonderful you got a lot of work done in such little time with a full time job and other jobs and just plain life great job big fan never miss a video 👍👌
Cutting that core support worked like a charm! Love watching you work... I am going an International Scout. When I can't be working, I enjoy watching others progress! Keep it up!
Dan! Your high build primer is awesome stuff!!! The front end you tinkered around with looks great with everything on it! Great job putting extra effort into this car to make it nice!!!! Just DONT put a front bumper on it, I'm digging the gasser vibe!!!!! Great video!!!
Then they learned that was all a waste of time and cancer. Filler is lighter, quicker and will last 50 years as long as you keep it covered with paint and it will not crack if mixed properly and put on nor more than 1/4 thick. You guys just didn't know back then how it would hold up. Now we know better. bondo will far outlast most cars many times over.
In my experience on my 55 the hood hinge pins / bushings are wore and that’s why hood sits up in the back. I put a different set of slightly less wore hinges on and problem went away.
Problem with high build primer is that to often people misuse it as filler. It's really only intended to fill moderate scratches. Heavy buildup will shrink over time, sharing every sin it was meant to cover. Good luck with the rest of the project. Should be a fun car to knock around in.
That was the missing piece of the puzzle the hood really brought her together excellent job my friend. Got to admit I was one of the ones that kind of told you to junk that thing at the beginning of this build you definitely proved me wrong. Your love for the tri fives really shows through on this one. I love it.
Congrats on the shop expansion. The Nomad looks tough. I cant help but feel its time for the girl to get some soul. When can we see some nice shinny head lights and a touch of chrome. I know it sounds a bit odd but its starting to weird me out Dan. Give it some soul man. lol. Love the show bro.
Need to get some pain filters for your respirator. Those pink filters are for dust not fumes. Not trying to bust your stones but you only get one set of lungs! Keep jamming man this is your best one yet!
Gas in BC where I live is $1.95 a litre. For all the USA guys that is $7.40 a gallon. Hey Dan how can you afford to run these machines. I love the channel and hope it can continue in spite of disgusting fuel prices.
You and Dani have helped keep me relatively sane for the last couple of years. Thanks, y'all! The Nomad paint scheme is fine, fine, fine. You have excellent taste in music, by the way. Did you grow up around a good record collection, by chance? I wouldn't sell that Nomad for love or money. Greetings from Austin, Texas.
Agree Dan you are killing it buddy, I hope you NEVER sell this one. the white and silver is very sharp. Hood works, grill is great. Man O Man you got all the really cool shit, D
When done right , 55`s are one of the meanest lookind cars build and Best design , REAL MUSCLE Machines , Sorry we aren`t talking about you Dan ! ! ! LOL 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
It's really shaping up compared to when you first got it. I remember when I could not get the rear of my hood down.. I changed hinges and found out later that my springs were worn and installed new 55 springs and it pulled the hood down nicely. Keep that in mind if you have similar problems.
Nomad is looking great Dan. It's a far different car than the one Josh brought even though it is the same one. I think you have outdone yourself, lol. Thanks for sharing 👍👍
Just some friendly advice, your pattern and overlap is good, but you need to square up your gun better. You are getting a tail at the bottom of your fan, this is because your gun is on a 45, instead of 90 degrees to the panel. I have been a painter for over thirty years, also, I never close my vent cover, less paint in the gun allows this, good job , really enjoy your channel, from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦👍
That car looks so good with the hood on it. I’m glad you changed your mind. Mur needs to get back soon and help a person when help is needed.
This car has come a long way, It's looking very good Dan.
"Just saying words I heard on the internet" LMAO!! Great work Dan, gonna be a sweet ride!!
Awesome job Dan, you put the icing on the cake with the grill, the 55 grill is what makes the car
Awesome work
Hi Dan. Helluva nice carb cover. I have the exact same hood ornament. I'm going to send it to you. Mabye for Danielle's car, or a wall hanger.
This car has come so far since the first time I saw it. A guy does good work for sure!
Wow you got patience... when it comes to panel gaps I could never do that I'll just pay somebody lol... It looking good man ...can't wait see it painted
What color paint it
Remember high school student & college students watching show on you tube !!!
Are going take the chrome off the hood do it the right way !!!???
Are going fixed rust cut our new metal in the hole
If paint the car black sharp gross blackberry nice

Excellent little snugging fix there on the radiator cross member! Now that thing really looks like a million bucks!
Coming together little more each day. Your Nomad will be great! Thank you for sharing
Moving forward! Another piece of the puzzle closer to the finish line.
A splash of coffee, waiting for rust convertor to dry. Patching a floor today.
1/4 panels next week.

She's rearly coming along Dan. You can be proud of this miraculous transformation 👏.
Impressive how far you have come with that former "Rot Box". Looking great!
Love that Nomad, Going to look like new. I like work ,could watch you all day...Ontario....
You've done a great job on that Nomad! The front nose has some many different angles but you nailed it. This how been your top build Dan! Later man ✌
if/when you make a video of the whole build process the gravity of what you have done here will be more apparent to those who lack the patience to watch each episode. great work, dan.

It is a customise when the end result is good otherwise it is called a "bodge job"... This was a customise, great job lining everything up!
Mixing sticks and strainers are free at your paint store, Wrap the hose behind your back, Looks good - keep learning.
What a transformation! A swift journey from yard art. Panels, time, primer, sure does look nice.
I can't believe the progress you have made on this car. Most people would have said no way can you fix that piece of junk but look at it now it's beautiful. You gave the old girl a new life. That's what I like about this channel. Good job Dan.
Love this project, I love the old wagons. Keep it going, it's going to be one of the nicest ones I've watched you do!
Dan you are doing a great job, this is the first time I have seen this attention to detail. Great, Great, Great, keep up the work.
Dan, Please, give yourself more credit!!!!! (Ask me how I know.)

Everything is looking good for all the different parts you have used. I like what you have done so far. Keep going you are doing fine.
I quite regularly fight with my Princess auto spraygun lol
Looking great Dan! The hood really ties the room together 🍻

I was just watching the video when that car came out of the trailer, what a difference with what it looks like now!
It’s just gonna be a sweet sweet ride! You’ve put in a ton of work in that old car but it’s something to be very proud of Dan! 👍😎 🇨🇦
Amazing work on this one can't believe how fast and far its come since you bought it
I have been watching you from also the start of your channel. Best build yet Dan. You just keep getting better. Can't wait to see it with paint on it.
Wow, I cannot believe how far that car has come. You truly got skilled my man. God bless

"Do women know about shrinkage??" -George Costanza
Did they tell you you needed an air cleaner? That is a great looking NOMAD! What a difference the hood and grill makes 👌 WICKED!!!!!!!
Maybe the paint gun problems had something to do with the "clean-ish" cup"? Lol
Car looks amazing!!
So nice to see it with the front end together.
Never ceases to amaze me how you can bring something a lot of people would have scrapped to bring back to something awesome
Hi Dan , oh man , this Nomad sure looks MUCH better than the day you brought it home. Your work is SURE paying off. I LOVE the look of the 55 Nomad and i can't wait for the day when you take it for a ride down the street. Thanks for sharing
From what you started with this nomad is looking good .great job dan .😀Love the nomads 👍👍👍
Hood looks good, fit much better than I thought it would..
Can't wait to see it painted...

Best cut you've made so far. Great fit from my eyes. Finally a stock hood without holes in it. Perfect fit. Can't wait for a ride.
NICE to see it comming together well!
You do wonders. What a great transformation. Inspiring.
Pretty amazing work here Dan. You brought this one back from the dead.
I SEE a NEW BODY MAN COMING INTO HIS OWN👍🙏WOW, IMPRESSIVE
in the olden days we used lead if we HAD TO DO BODY FILLER hammer and dolly . then primer sand primer sand repeat until perfect as we could get.
This car has come from a POS, to a beautiful car anybody would love to own, great job Dan.
Even if it’s watchin ya sand ,cuse or struggle we love dd speed shop Visio’s
In my experience on my 55 the hood hinge pins / bushings are wore and that’s why hood sits up in the back. I put a different set of slightly less wore hinges on and problem went away.

Good luck with the rest of the project. Should be a fun car to knock around in.
She's lookin' beautiful, Brother! Can't wait to see her rollin' down the road!
A metal shrinker is a handy tool to have, it can help with oil canning body panels.
Dang that thing looks sweet! Nice job, as Rick would say, hell yeah!
Great job on the hood and even better job on fitment and alignment of the front end. This car is really coming together.
That was the missing piece of the puzzle the hood really brought her together excellent job my friend. Got to admit I was one of the ones that kind of told you to junk that thing at the beginning of this build you definitely proved me wrong. Well done with the body lines Dan!, see you again.
Need to get some pain filters for your respirator. Those pink filters are for dust not fumes. Not trying to bust your stones but you only get one set of lungs! Keep jamming man this is your best one yet!
Couldn't agree more, immediately better on the hood gap.
Man I gotta say you’re getting really good at this stuff, Those gaps are legit!
Heck of a nice job Dan. Getting there! Big Al.

This car has come so far, get the color on. Impressive
I like your choice in color. Silver and white together look so clean and crisp.
Well done...you have more patience than I do my friend....
Agree Dan you are killing it buddy, I hope you NEVER sell this one. the white and silver is very sharp. Hood works, grill is great. Man O Man you got all the really cool shit, D
This is a fantastic video. Your method for fender alignment by tweaking core support is spot on.The car is coming out better than I imagined it would.
That new shop almost makes you look like a custom car builder 🤷🏽♂️👍🏻😎
The car looks better and better every video.
Dude you are a true metal artist!
When done right , 55`s are one of the meanest lookind cars build and Best design , REAL MUSCLE Machines , Sorry we aren`t talking about you Dan ! ! ! LOL 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
DAN....Hint....wipe down that sheetmetal with " wax & grease remover or ..Lacquer thinner..get them greasy handprints off....
I have a 55 Chev 150. I need to do the same thing to my core support. Fun watching your videos. Maybe I'll work on my own soon lol
It's really shaping up compared to when you first got it.
I remember when I could not get the rear of my hood down.. I changed hinges and found out later that my springs were worn and installed new 55 springs and it pulled the hood down nicely. Keep that in mind if you have similar problems.
Very, Very, Cool! Great job and perseverance on your part.
Very nice! The car looks great. Keep up the good work.
DD speed shop............you are rocken it Dan.
Nomad is looking great Dan. It's a far different car than the one Josh brought even though it is the same one. I think you have outdone yourself, lol. Thanks for sharing 👍👍
Looks really good, liking the extra effort you're doing to make it look right. I'll keep watching from the side line.
