Always good to see an update on the Torana project Gunny and it looks like you are doing a mighty fine job on the old gal🧐 I've heard that Quartz Filler Primer is quite good as it has a good build and is easy to sand🤔with a project like this you just need to go as far as you want with it as it's not going to be a concourse show car but a daily that you can be proud of😎looking forward to the next one👏👍John UK
What sort or primer colour would you go for doing a black car, with there being 4 options, black sounds ideal, but is it easier to see basecoat coverage if you had laid down a grey primer? (Playing from home sorry if its a stupid question ha)
Off topic but what do you rate the ANI BLACK SKULL GUN FOR BOTH WATERBORNE AND SOLVENT &LOVE YOUR VIDEOS AND ADVICE. P.S DONT KNOW WHY I TYPED IN CAPs lol😅
Giday Gunman, I am new to your channel but it looks exceptioinally interesating. I do have a question for you. I have a BT50 2008 and it is suffering from "sunburn" on the turret and bonnet and to a less extent around the windows in the door. Would it be better to try and rescue the paint work at the momnent or do a complete piant job back to base cover and the bring it back up? I look forward to your recommendation.
I haven't used all of them, but the few I've used vary greatly. The Quartz one I used on this job is great, I hated the Upol branded one. PPG 616 is also good
Generally it's Epoxy primer at work and home. You can get Epoxy primer in 2k and 1k. We used to use a great quality Glasurit acid etch, but as I moved to different paint lines I stopped using etch primers so much.
hey Gunman what is the best budget spray gun option right now in your opinion?Asking because my devilbiss flg 5 is leaking and i can't get rebuild kit and i cant get that gun no more.
G'day Mr Gunman, You must be getting close to paint. Q. Have you got a name or link to the seam sealer your using. So thanks for sharing ✌️ Peace from my garage/ Pakenham 3810.
By the way you are talking Gunny, saying that editting these old videos brings back memories, then I assuming that the Torrie has already been finished? Looking forward to seeing the finished project.
Not finished, I'm just at a bit of a standstill, I want some mechanical work done before I proceed. I'm waiting for my mechanic mate to come back over to finish the brakes and power steering rack install.
Hey Gunman, if I sent you some cash for your time would you be willing to get on the phone to have a chat. I’m at the beginning stages of painting my car in World Rally Blue and just have some questions that could be answered probably quite quickly with a chat. I’ve been out and bought the Chicago Air HUSH100 compressor and I want to build my spray setup around it. Let me know what you think, im more than happy to send you $50 for a 10 minute call
I sanded a yacht Sunday morning, and rolled on antifouling paint, l knew that paints chemical makeup had cooper, but didn't realize it could of killed me,been sick for four days with very bad issues, and since I'm self employed I have no health insurance.
How do you deal with sweat and does your plastic ever flake basecoat when you go to clear? I was sweating like a stuck pig earlier. 90% humidity and 90 in the booth. Got a few sweat drips in a black full respray and was super pissed. Didn't matter how much I wiped my face it was instantly soaked again.
Just a couple tips for those conditions..start your spraying from top down so if any sweat drips or water you can usually use the air from the gun and blow the sweat or water off the panel because the paint below is not wet from starting at bottom you can usually blow it off before it bubbles the paint..if you are base and clearing and you get the water or fish eye after your last coat grab a paint brush and drip some clear into the water spot or fish eye after it dries you can sand lightly and polish and usually hide it away...good luck!
Hurry up an finish so I can binge watch the sieries. I already binge watched all of your other restoration videos and I love it.
When your restoring 20 + cars & Trucks you can beat the High Build Primer & Paint for your $$$ ! It works Awesome ! 😁✌
I still use a GPI that you recommend back in 2019. GPI for base and GTI T110 for clear

Hell yea brother. Going to be a killa day once the body gets done 🤘
Looking good Gunny

Definitely get a dark primer, it will save you coats of paint and time. And potentially not having it properly covered
LOOKS GOOD TO ME GUNNIE.

Great video Gunny, what polyester primer do you use ? …. Cheers
It was car finish brand from Sprayguns Direct. I did a review on it
what the wait is that epoxy primer?
do you prefer one epoxy primer over another or are they pretty much the same?

Enjoying the process of the resto Gunny. What is the product that you use to clean your gun and is that all you need to do to clean it?
Testing my memory now, but I think it was the 3M high power spray gun cleaner. Yes, for solvent that should be all you need
@@TheGunmanChannel Thank you for your reply. I am looking forward to the next installment of the Torana resto.
Nice! Do you ever at home or work use an etch on bare metal under the primer?

Next step up would be GPG (formerly GPi) otherwise have a look at some of the ANi F160 guns. All available at spraygunsdirect.co.uk
@@TheGunmanChannelthanks a lot i'm gonna look into those guns.🙂

Well if it's heavy metal poisoning you better get some help.
