Dr. Taylor has an encyclopedic knowledge of menopause. She is so highly qualified in this field and provides a free menopause education on her UA-cam channel. I will be forever grateful that you introduced me to her via your channel.
I had my consultation with Barbie and she’s eye opening- she gave me information in an hour that I never knew in the years of going to the dr- thank you Angie for bringing her to your audience bc in working with her I feel that I can change my life and that of my daughters 💕
I am on HRT and it is life changing. Been on it almost 5 years. Before HRT I tried several herbal formulas that worked to a point but then stopped working. I had horrible hot flashes, mood swings and joint aches. I had reaally bad heart palpitations, cardiologist could not find out cause. On HRT they went away......maybe he should have checked my hormone levels at some point ! On HRT I could finally sleep, more energy, no more achy-breaky joints, could run again and I did not feel like murderous anymore LOL. I can't imagine not having it ! I have no more wrinkles or grays than I had before menopause. My doctor was fine with putting me on it because I was healthy and not on any other meds. She also said it was a good option because I still have my uterus and it would help protect my female parts. It protects your arteries too. Not an option for everyone, but quality of life issue for me. I wish it was safe for all women because it truly is a great thing. P.S. I have to private pay because my insurance does not cover it . I am able to use my HSA account to pay for it and the insurance is the one that puts money into my HSA ! They ARE paying for it in a backwards way. Funny how insurance will cover testosterone and little blue pills for men though.......!!!!! Not fair at all.
I know...if Viagra can be covered, then HRT for women SHOULD definitely be covered. If men had to suffer through menopause for one month, just one month, I do believe insurance would cover the HRT :)
You are so right. There is nothing fair about menopause ... especially the fact that women do not get the education on it they deserve. I'm trying to change that.
Right on! It is SO ludicrous that men can have pills to get an erection. Which is in not a greater medical need than women getting the medication to live a better quality of life... So disgusting.
I started watching Menopause Barbie 1-2 years ago and I’m not menopausal. I want to be educated before this happens to me. Thank you Angie & Dr Taylor!! ❤️
You both saved my life... literally. I was in such a bad place that I was suicidal. Iv been on hrt for a little under a year now. I'm so thankful I found you both and took charge of my own health. I was told no, no, no by at least 3 doctors until I found my wonderful angel of a (man) physician who told me I had every right to go on hrt... So, thank you 😊 🙏
I am 50 and was on the lowest dose of HRT for the past 4 years. I took it because I thought it was good for me and my endocrinologist advocated it. My gynecologist asked "why are you on this? You have a very sensitive constitution and a lot of cancer in your family." I said "because I can". I decided to stop one month ago and feel SO MUCH BETTER! I am shocked that what I thought was helping me was doing the opposite. I have much more energy, don't sleep ten hour a night, lost weight instantly, am mentally sharper, anxiety is gone and am happier! Crazy! Everyone is different. Listen to your body, people! It is our greatest guide;)
Yes she hasn't even mentioned that HRT isn't going to be ok for people like us. My mom died of breast cancer and 2 of her sisters also had it. No way would I risk that. I would rather up my antidepressants lol. I feel like they are actually pushing reasons to take it. Dangerous if you don't know your family's medical history
@@annemariecronen9096 true! Ironically and sadly I just got off the phone with Memorial Sloan Kettering as my father has been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. Very scary if you have family histories like ours. The intricacies of the body are nothing to be haphazard about;)
I agree. No two women are alike. Your body's opinion is the only one that matters. As long as you have a real education and know what's really going on at menopause, you will manage it successfully FOR YOU.
I'm so glad I found Dr. Taylor. I started HRT (although my gyn was hesitant) almost a year ago (I'm 65) reversed my osteopenia and feel great! Thank you for all you do, Dr. Taylor! ❤
I am 61 & have very bad osteoporosis which was diagnosed at 30 & have refused all the bisphosphonates & Prolia. I have taken BIHRT off & on but I don't think it has done anything. I have lost so much hair over the last few years which has been a real problem.
I was about 48 when I started menopause. I (after many trips to different doctors) was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia during the time I was goin through menopause. I have been in Hell since. The pain, the brain fog and so many other issues that I just wanted to give up. My GYN did not do anything for me other than my once a year GYN exam. My regular doctors did not help me either. I am now 72 and do not see a GYN because he told me the last time I went to him that I did not have to go back and see him anymore. I was 65 then. I never took any estrogen or HRT meds. I felt like crap for the last 24 yrs. I was so disgusted that I thought about ending everything. I have always said that I wished I had my periods again because I felt so better than and also more energetic too. Now I came across this and so glad you are doing this video. What do I do now at my age? Oh I do have osteoporosis in my back. Why don't doctors tell you all of this?
you are right. DR's don't know anything about menopause, even the specialists. But i can tell you something: try to cut the carbs out of your diet and see how you feel? Carbs are bread, rice, pasta and sugar. I am telling you that i have heard so many people with Fibro feeling so much better and pain went away. What if this works for you, naturally without any meds?
Thank god for HRT! I originally started with the patch but opted to change to a bio-identical cream. It has made my quality of life so much better. Interesting story for all those using the cream....I had been on the bio-identical cream for about 6/9 months and was doing well. We happened to take our dog to the vet and were shocked when we she told us the dog had unusually large nipples and enlarged vulva. She asked me if I was on any HRT. After hearing I was she proceeded to tell me the hormones can be transferred, unknowingly, to a dog and be harmful. I immediately made an appointment with my gynecologist and changed to an bio-identical troche. Thankfully, I adapted fine to the troche and my dog returned to normal after about 6/9 months. We assume the estrogen was passed from the cream I applied at night to my upper inner arms even though the dog never came on the bed at night, not until morning. There are many stories about the transfer of hormones from human to dog, easy to research. My vet was very familiar with the phenomena but my gynecologist said it was something new for her.
@@janinealexa567 No doubt. HRT is a major and not something to take lightly. However, living with constant hot flashes, brain fog, aches and pains, and no sleep is serious also. It's up to each of us to weigh the pros and cons. For me, HRT has been the right choice.
Thanks so much Angie for getting the word out to women about HRT. I am on BHRT and have followed Dr. Taylor's videos along with Suzanne Somers many great books on the topic in the early 2000's, Dr. Lisa Mosconi and her valuable work on the female brain and links to estrogen. Women need to know this. Thank you Angie and Dr. Taylor for continuing to talk about perimenopause and menopause!
Wow mind blowing! I am not quite 40 but I hear so many negative things about going through menopause! I am angry just listening to this and you are so right! I am all about educating myself and advocating for myself! We deserve better! Thank you for bringing this to light!
I knew about this since Suzanne Summers started talking about it but I was too young to care. Now I’m 48 and I believe I’m premenopausal. I have already contacted my doctor. But just like you said I had no idea about the three deseases that can affect my life. My mom has had 2 heartaches. As of now I was just focusing on not having a hard time during menopause. This video has opened my eyes wider to my journey. Thank you
Thank you so so much I’m 52 and have been miserable for a year because of menopausal symptoms, thank you so much for highlighting this subject and being such a powerful voice. I have Addisons which is adrenal insufficiency and take medication for it daily and you are told that not taking the hormone replacement is life threatening but attitudes to oestrogen replacement is completely different. I can’t thank you and Dr Barbie enough to giving me the confidence and tools to make my life better. Thank you x
I had 7 years of EXTREME vaginal pain, irritation, dryness. It was so, so bad that it affected me 24/7. I had topical extrogen for 3 years, which was “ok”, but only made me feel 30-40% better. Finally, I essentially BEGGED my Gyno for HRT. It has taken almost a year to figure out the right dosage, but living without constantly thinking of my vagina is so freeing. I am sleeping better, and will continue HRT as long as I can.
I’m going through this now one year in early stages. I ended up getting e.Coli because of it. I’m not sure u should take HRT because of my history with breast cancer. This video is going to help me be more informative on what would be best for me. I do use vaginal moisturizer which helps tremendously.
@@accesstotheredcarpet Suzanne Somers had breast cancer and believes balancing her hormones prevented a recurrence. I think she even took HRT during her cancer treatment. This was decades ago and she's been fine. You can read her books to find out.
I have a great Nurse Practitioner. While she does perform labs (I'm perimenopausal), she focuses most on HEARING me, listening to my issues, and addressing them. She's asking me about hot flashes, insomnia, how my sex life is with my husband, whether there's pain or dryness, whether I can orgasm, about how I'm feeling about my body and weight, along with normal questions about bleeding and cramping, blood clots, etc. I feel SO blessed to have found my wonderful PCM. she's a God send!
I finally found an educated GYN that would prescribe HRT long term. (I previously had the same doctor that said “I’ll give you some estrogen for 5 years, then you need to stop…) It’s ridiculous that the “common approach” is to keep women off HRT. Love Menopause Taylor!
I love both Hot and Flashy Angie & Dr. Taylor, the latter's youtube channel probably being the most underrated channel ever. Free, thoughtful, intentional, well-crafted menopause education on the web, ladies. Thanks to Angie, Dominique Sasche, for introducing us to Dr. Taylor.
“Menopausal women should be standing in the mountaintop saying, ‘We are the most powerful people on Earth!’ “ Love this so much! 💕 Thank you, Angie and Dr. Taylor for this great and informative video!!
I am not yet in peri-menopause, as far as I am aware. I’m 46. Can I just say that I am absolutely terrified of me menopause?! I am so thankful to see influencers start to talk about this. I am going to get my hormone levels and bone density scans NOW, so I have a baseline for when I do start to see changes. Thanks, Angie!
@@jackiebennett3762 I'm 54 and haven't had any symptoms. I'm more than fine! I dont know what percentage of women experience sever symptoms but NOT every woman will experience those symptoms. I'm one of them 😊
Don't be afraid. It's not a disease like some might make you believe. Be weary of HRT. I have known 3 women with no history all develop reproductive and breast cancers.
I literally asked my husband if I should talk to my doctor about how long I can be on HRT 3 DAYS AGO!!!!!!!! I just went into his office and told him what I have learned here in just 40 minutes. I am so freaked out, but at least I know where to get information and we happen to see a wonderful P.A. that does Testosterone replacement for my husband every 6 months and took an interest in my well being as well. So I have someone to talk to about this!
I am very fortunate to have a Dr that listens! When I had my last bone scan they said I didn’t need a new one for 10 years, but of course it won’t be that long before another one is performed. I did have break through bleeding so I was put on progesterone and that was taken care of. I did have vagina dryness but I use an estrogen tablet that fixes that. Other women my age don’t understand why I have so much energy, but when they ask if I am on HRT they sigh and say oh I can’t do that. I am not sure but I think breast cancer is probably more survivable that heart disease, which my Dad had. I always watch Menapause Taylor as there is always something to learn. Thanks 😊
Dr. Taylor has THE most informative content for peri and menopausal women for free than anyone else on the net. She is the one that got me to doing research as well regarding HRT. I have been on it for 1 year and I can tell you, I have recently started having memories from high school and elementary school that I haven't been able to experience in decades. My NP said it was the brain fog lifting. I do have this feeling that I am waking up and am able to experience life in a more engaging mindset. At a genetically higher risk for heart disease, osteoporosis, and the stinkin alzheimers, I am grateful for this discovery and that we have a very real treatment for these. Thank you Dr. Taylor! You are a true heroine!
I was prescribed estradiol pills after my complete hysterectomy. I did not take the pills and put them in my cabinet bc everyone was telling me about the risk of breast cancer. So I went cold turkey taking nothing. I was getting worse and worse with depression. My doctor kept switching up depression pills but nothing was working. I remembered I had those estradiol pills and i was so so so desperate for anything, just something to help. I know there's a shelf life on medicines but at this point I had to exhaust every avenue. The pills had been sitting there for 2 years but I didn't care bc I was desperate at this point just trying to find relief. I took one hoping for a miracle. That was the answer I was looking for. It totally helped my depression. Society doesn't talk much about depression linked to a hysterectomy. But I'm here to tell you it is directly related.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. These two women are so informative and give us a true understanding of what every woman goes through during menopause. I am 57 years old and haven’t had a period for one year now. My doctor is fantastic. He offered to put me on HRT nine months ago when I told him about my personal situation. He also sends me for mammograms annually and a bone density test recently. I feel great and I am so glad that I chose this route.
I’m on HRT and thought I was doing the right thing until Dr Taylor said don’t treat the lab results. I have my blood drawn every 3 months - need to discuss this with my dr. And she’s never told me I need a bone density scan. Thanks Angie for having Dr Taylor again!
I i’ve been on HRT for 25 years I had a total hysterectomy at 40 and I’m still on it I’ve never had any issues it keeps your skin your keeps you feeling much more youthful good for your bones ect and I agree I think it’s definitely a benefit I really enjoy all your shows
I love Dr. Barbie Taylor! I watched at least 250 of her videos back to back... I was obsessed! Such a wealth of information. I've been on HRT for 1.5 years and I feel great, plus preventing heart attacks, osteoporosis and dementia... My goal is to have a long healthy rest of my life! I tell anybody and everybody about Dr. Taylor and her terrific YT videos. Thank you so much...xxx
Thank you so much. I'm 53 and had a near fatal accident 4.5 years ago that put me in menopause. I have had no menopausal symptoms per se but have watched my body deteriorate since. In my mid 30's I actually performed Dexa Scans and had a coworker do mine. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis! Years later, my older sister died of premenopausal breast cancer. Fast forward, o realize with HRT I might get breast cancer. Without HRT though I see my quality of life deteriorating rapidly with aging skin, visible bone loss in my jaw, weight gain, loss of hour glass figure, high cholesterol for 1st time ever, increased blood pressure, decreased mentality to the point I had a brain MRI to rule out post traumatic brain injury and began speech therapy, and more. I'm going to my doctor to get on HRT!!! I'd rather live and love my life rather then watch myself rapidly deteriorate in fear of one disease. I perform mammograms and feel I understand early detection and treatment. Thank you again!
It really is a quality of life decision. I am a cancer survivor almost 6 years now. I am on HRT and I would be miserable without it. My doctor had no qualms putting me on it because it can protect against certain cancers. I also have breast tests done every 2 years. Some have them annually.
Getting the whole truth and the whole story enables you to put things into perspective and make the choices that are best FOR YOU. That's what my education is all about.
@@MenopauseTaylor Absolutely agree with you! I finished breast cancer treatment last November for two tumours, one triple negative and the other hormone receptive. Was prescribed Letrazole for 5 years, but stopped taking it after 4 months because the side effects for me were badly affecting my mental and physical health. I am considering going back on HRT and seeing my oncologist tomorrow to discuss this. I have annual mammograms here in France, or more often if I choose. Thank you so much for your education, which I will continue to consult to help me finalise my decision. I am not hopeful of much support from my oncologist and/or gynaecologist though...
Barbie is a gift to all women ❤ I am so grateful to have found her over a year ago and that I am on HRT 💊 I wish all OBGYN docs operated from her mindset and knowledge base. The system and the “guidelines” NEED to change!
Thank you Angie for doing another video with Dr Taylor. I watched your first one then immediately started Dr Taylor's videos. It made me so mad at my doctors. They already knew I had osteopenia. Started on HRT last year, still trying to find the right balance. But I have the information now. Finding the right doctor is my biggest challenge. It definitely helps going in with the knowledge. I told everyone I know about her videos. All women should have this knowledge.
Love this collaboration! Highly recommend watching Dr Taylor’s channel to see what’s right for you. Not many doctors are well educated on HRT, I know from experience. I was having very good experience on Prempro. Didn’t know that the combined estrogen/progesterone pill has an increase risk of blood clots. I got a DVT and bilateral PE. While that was upsetting it was also equally upsetting to be told no more HRT. After doing a lot of research I learned that the regulated bioidentical patch has low to no risk of blood clot. Was difficult to get this prescribed because doctors now wary about another clot and potential lawsuit. Fortunately found a great team - hematologist and HRT specialist and I’m on patch with oral progesterone. Wish I had done my homework up front, but happy to be back on HRT!
I did a consultation a few years ago, and it was worth it. I then went to see a fairly young gynecologist because mine was out of the office. She started recommending some of Dr. Taylor’s ideas (IUD). So, it wasn’t hard to get what I wanted. If you have weeks and weeks to watch her videos, I mean it would be a full time job to learn everything for awhile, then do it. The price of the consultation was a more cost effective use of my time.
I got an IUD put in once and it was the most horrible pain I ever had. And I felt funny side effects the next two days, I immediately had it taken out. I will NEVER put myself through that ever again.
Thank you so much for this fabulous interview. I am in the U.K. and work with peri and menopausal women every single day. The lack of education and factual information and access to help is so shocking it breaks my heart. When one woman is suffering we are all suffering.
They should but go to a specialist if they are actually good and going to help. You need to do the research yourself. You can try bio identicals as well and completely change your diet and lifestyle. It's all work and preparation. You probably neer to get a DUTCH test. Its pricey but accurate.
In my forties I so feared menopause because few women I knew got through it without the patch or without loosing their sanity. Now I’m 63 have had joint replacements and use a cane because of fear of tripping. We all need to be proactive in our forties! Thank you both ladies😉
Dr. Taylor, I really enjoyed your interview with Angie. I have been following you for at least 2 1/2 ,3 years. I haven’t watched each video from beginning to end, but most recently on the three risk factors that kill women. Today5-3, I just switched over from a male Kaiser doctor to a female doctor. I told her that I do HRT. I wanted her to be aware that I was very much into this type of THERAPY. After seeing this video, I just want to let her watch this video. She is a47-year-old family practice doctor with 4 kids of her own. And you’re right, there are guidelines with Kaiser. But today I asked her to do complete labs on me including hormonal labs and adrenal labs. I also ask for a bone density test because I haven’t had one since prior to my hip replacement8 yrs ago. I hope I get approved for all of these lab tests and bone density tests . As soon as I get these results Dr. Taylor, I’m going to forward them to you with all the questions that you ask in your very detailed interview through the paperwork. I am on estradiol, testosterone, and progesterone and have been since about age 50. When my OB/GYN doctor got angry with me regarding HRT and subjects such as this!!I decided to go outside the system and have been paying out-of-pocket on my own for my own HRT, but it is not Sufficient enoughbased on what I’ve learned from you Dr. I can’t wait to get these labs done so that I can get my consultation with you finally. I know I’ll probably need a referral to a doctor outside of Kaiser that can work with me regarding my goals. Kaiser doctors are under strict guidances and protocols as you know. I know how much work you’ve put into this Dr. Taylor, and I think that you should go down in history as being the only doctor to reveal to the woman of this generation what is truly going on with their bodies and what we can do about it. I wish you would start your own clinic with doctors that could work under you with your type of thinking. Kudos to you Dr Taylor!!🥰
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I am turning 49 next month. I’ve been suffering for a bit. But after watching this I am feeling empowered. I will search out the right doctor who will help me. Thank you both SO MUCH!!!!
I had a consultation with Dr. Taylor, it was the best investment ever. I need to do it again to make sure I’m doing things ok. Dr. Taylor is amazing. Thank you Angie.
I am 51. I have been watching both of these utube channels and am so grateful. I have been proactive and asked for Dexa scan and labs. My lipids were elevated even though I am vegetarian. And I have Osteopenia. My insurance would not cover estrogen patches. They wanted to put me on the pill I took 20+ years ago!!!!!! I have two grown kids. I found Evernow. Like Curology, is for the face, this is HRT for the body online . You fill out form get a prescription sent to home and they do communicate regularly. I am so happy I am on my patch and progesterone with proper dosage to prevent the 3 diseases of menopause!! Thanks Angie and Dr Barbie ❤️ 😘 😊 🙏
@@laureldell7377 it’s not natural and our major organs are affected by it. Do you know one of the number one killers for women is a heart attack and you can prevent it if you had some estrogen in your body menopause is not just about a hot flash.
Thank you so much Angie!!! It was eye opening for me...I am 60 years old and suffering so badly and no one doctor listen me...Now I have hope...Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!
It’s failed more than just women but yes, we have been lost in the mix. It’s even gone so far that we are often treated like we are over reacting to pain or whiny. There needs to be so much more done for women and their health!
I just want to add my two cents on the other side of the coin. I took HRT for 3-5 years and then I was diagnosed with breast cancer-estrogen receptive. Was it caused by the HRT-probably not but who knows if it was more severe or accelerated. I was “lucky” because it was only stage 1, but I had to have 2 lumpectomies and radiation treatments. I also opted for 2 more surgeries to reconstruct my asymmetrical appearance with fat grafts. My point is my life has been disrupted for 2 1/2 years, and if I’m lucky that will be it. Education is definitely important, but stay open minded about other treatment options such as herbs, supplements, and acupuncture. Breast cancer was worse for me than any menopausal symptoms.
my mother in law had a mammogram in october 2015 that was fine started hrt in january and was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer within 4 months and passed away
This is definitely something that needs to be discussed! I was done and dusted through menopause before I was 35... Nobody talks about menopause to women in their 30s! Nobody suggested HRT until almost ten years later! I wasn't able to go back then though... Even my doctors at that time never said a word to me..
Thank you for having Dr Taylor on your channel again! She is amazing at getting the word out about menopause. I felt like I lived underground about this topic before I started watching her tutorials. I also had a consultation that as you said is so tailored to your specific needs!! Thank you, thank you!!
I'm in my 14th year of post menopause aged 60, in that time iv been diagnosed with Fibro myalgia Chronic fatigue syndrome and depression given buckets of pills, I now know it was probably all menopause and HRT would have helped me massively but I was put on it had 1 show and taken straight off with no alternative, if I'd known then what I know now I would have fought for alternatives but us women had no clue what menopause was doing to us because there just hasn't been the education. Unfortunately it's to late for me but I would encourage anyone starting menopause to look at everything you can get your hands on and take the help that's now available because we should not have to suffer in silence x
The earlier in your adult life you get my menopause education, the better. It's so unfair that society has never educated women on the second half of their lives.
Oh my heavens! I was actually working for one of these estrogen companies when WHI came out. The interpretation & data analysis of this trial was not accurate. Over night Drs discontinued estrogen. These poor women were trusting their health & lives to these providers. So wrong! Thank you for your amazing videos & education!
Going plant-based & exercising (running, strength training, biking) eliminated all of my menopause symptoms 15 years ago. An all natural cure! No cancer or cardiovascular worries either.
Not everyone can survive on plant based. It's a combination overall. And if women aren't taking care of their health before Menopause they shouldn't expect a miracle to happen in their 50s. I'm far younger and I've been looking into this since my mid 30s. Not everyone has amazing periods a lot suffer their whole lives.
Society tells us menopause is natural and that healthy women go through it without symptoms so if you’re suffering, you must be unhealthy or unbalanced in some way. I’m into natural health and I’ve been struggling the past few years, even developing a thyroid condition. Only now am I realising that what we are told is wrong and that I’ve been suffering unnecessarily! I’m now singing from the rooftops and trying to spread the knowledge but none of my friends want to admit they are ‘at that age’ or acknowledge their suffering. It’s so sad that we are made to feel like this.
Thanks for this video Angie and Dr. Taylor! I’m 58, went through menopause at 56 and started seeing a naturopathic doctor shortly after. I couldn’t stand all the symptoms I was having! It never occurred to me that we don’t have to go through these symptoms. My medical doctor had few answers. I have a strong family history of breast cancer, so I was concerned about doing HRT, but my naturopath explained to me that there are different types of female Hormones that don’t increase my chance of getting breast cancer. My naturalpath does very extensive 3-day dry urine tests and blood work with very extensive questionnaires and interviews. My MD has been helpful in getting some tests covered by my insurance. The goal is to have my levels not just normal but optimized. My hormones (estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone) are compounded in a pharmacy based on my labs and how I feel. I also take other supplements to assist with optimizing everything including cortisol, thyroid, human growth hormone, DHEA, and so many others. It is expensive because my insurance doesn’t cover it, but I have found it is worth it. I use an HSA account to pay for it all. We really do need to advocate with our state and federal representatives to have our healthcare needs included in our insurance.
Hi Kimberly My insurance doesn’t cover my hrt either . She also uses a compounding pharmacy and it’s expensive. You’re the second person to mention an HSA account. How can I get one ? Can you walk me through it?
Hi! I am glad to hear you are making yourself a priority and finding ways to get what you need! I’m curious to hear about that “other female hormones” that don’t lead to breast cancer? Do you mean to say you are NOT on estrogen , but something else? Breast cancer is in my family as well

@@MenopauseTaylor, I intend to purchase your book and DVDs to further my education. Would you suggest I seek any additional resources for formal information on menopause? I appreciate that Dr Taylor takes women’s health seriously and I agree that women are very often not listened to. However, I worked on a stroke unit back in the late 90’s and a disproportionate number of stroke patients were otherwise healthy women on HRT. Even though the package inserts clearly listed blood clots as a risk of HRT, the doctors would not discontinue the estrogen therapy. It was appalling to me and I was never so glad to see the medical community stop prescribing long term estrogen therapy for menopause when the later studies came out. My own mother would not stop taking estrogen until she suffered a serious stroke. I hate the thought of bone loss for myself and others so I am an avid exerciser. Hoping for the best! Again, I appreciate your advocacy and I am sure that you are more careful at dosing estrogen for your individual patients.
@@karen5631 It was in the late '90's and I was in my 30's and of course did not keep those records. If you trust my overall impression, the women who really stand out to me in my memory seemed to be in their 50's & 60's. What was most disturbing to me is that their doctors would not consider discontinuing their HRT or even lowering the dose even though the manufacturers of prescription estrogen stated that estrogen should be discontinued when there is a heart attack or stroke.
Blood clot risk is for oral estrogen, not transdermal or vaginal. You shouldn't lump all forms of HRT in one group. Each form and type has different risks and benefits. The manufacture inserts state the same warnings for all because of FDA regulations.
@@eatplantsloveanimals exactly what I was just about to comment it was in the 90s so for sure she’s talking about taking it orally which caused strokes. They don’t do that anymore. We eliminated that.
I want to just say thank you! I have been searching for information, any information on menopause and symptoms etc. I am 54 years old, I just went off low dose birth control last year. I was on it mostly for headaches and to keep my hormones in balance. My doctor had been trying to get me off of birth control for years because of the risk of blood clots, but for me, the side effects of being off was way worse than the possibility of a blood clot. In July 2020 I fell down the stairs and shortly after I found out I had osteoarthritis progressed to osteoporosis in BOTH hips. Now I will be having surgery this May 2022 to replace my left hip and later this year my right hip. Along the way I have been diagnosed with many things, Fibromyalgia, Restless leg syndrome, depression, the list goes on and on. I truly believe most, if not all, of my pain was and a lot still is HORMONAL. Now I get to add HOT FLASHES, HEADACHES, WEIGHT GAIN, to a long list of new things happening since my small regulated hormones (birth control pills) have been taken away. I have been trying to find a new Gynecologist because I know her ideas of my health do not match mine. Thank you, now I have information to take to the next doctor and can be my own advocate on what I want and need.

Angie, I learned about Dr. Taylor‘s work through your channel and I am so very thankful. I had two consultations managed my menopause and I am much happier! 😊It’s crazy (but what was predicted) that many of the things that happened to you also happened to me in regard to the doctor recommending anti-depressants, the doctor saying I didn’t need a bone scan I was too young, etc. I also had osteopenia. There’s so much I could say here but I will sum it up with -thank you thank you thank you for continuing to disseminate this important information! Love you guys!❤️
I'm so happy our first video helped you get on the right path Sara, but so sad and angry that we have to do this at all to find out such important information about our health... 💜
Angie & Dr. Taylor! Awsome collaboration!! Here I am 61, my endocrinologist said ok, lets renew this (annual) prescription ...but in Dec '22, it'll be 5 yrs, and we should stop.....Hmphff, What? Why? I said, its my hormone deficiency, luckily I was educated thru you two and presented my medical Hx case....Ed not Ad makes a difference! Perfect to revisit this very important woman's issue, thank you!
Every woman is different. What's good for one may not be good for another. I've been postmenopausal for 20 years. I never had hot flashes or night sweats. I've never been on HRT. I have high risk factors for several different cancers (breast, ovarian and colon to name three) so I made the best decision for me. I have had Healthcare in my life, in one capacity or another, for 40 years. I feel I made an educational decision when I said no to HRT.
I think everyone is unique and must make their own decisions. I have been on it for 13 years and couldn’t be happier with my decision. Thank goodness for my progressive minded doctor years ago! He was an older male who prescribed it for his wife and had a better handle on what some patients needed, like me. 😁
Just as long as you’re educated and know risks of not taking HRT for the other big 3 diseases ☺️ .. you’re right, every woman is different but we all eventually have to think about bone loss, cardiac issues and Alzheimer’s…
The great thing about the education I deliver is that it's YOUR menopause management YOUR way. No two women are alike. YOU should always do what's right for YOU, regardless of what anyone else is doing. I'll help you manage your menopause any way you want: Diet, lifestyle, supplements, herbs, hormones, non-hormonal meds, acupuncture, or hypnosis. The key is to know what each option can and cannot do. Never feel as though you need to justify your choices to anybody.
@@zannebabe I'm petite (bone loss risk #1) plus I have to take Protonix every day (bone loss risk #2.. Any antacid is detrimental to our bones) but I do everything I can to strengthen my bones and heart with diet, exercise, and supplements. Has anyone else been reading the latest about calcium supplements possibly causing heart issues? As far as the heart, I have a cardiologist that I see yearly as well. I take 5mg of rosuvastatin to keep my cholesterol in check. I walk every day several times a day. Like I said 40 years of Healthcare in my life (working in a hospital, predominantly ER. Plus 23 yrs married to a physician). I am doing what is best for me, educationally weighing the pros and cons of HRT.
I am 77. When I turned 60, I heard a lecture by a doctor who now made his whole practice about Bioidentical Hormone Replacement. I had a blood test for my hormones and he prescribed a cream from a compounding pharmacy which included estradiol, estriol, progesterone and testosterone. My prescription over the years has not changed. When I first started using the cream, I asked him “how long did I have to take it?”and he replied “ how long do you want to feel fantastic?” Dr. Barb is absolutely right, so many internal body functions continue to need hormone support! Thank you for helping bring such important information to your channel!❤️❤️❤️
@@KatieJoMikell hi…sorry but I am in California. You might try finding a compounding pharmacy in your area and asking the pharmacist for a few names of local doctors including nurse practitioners who have been prescribing Bioidentical Hormone Replacement..wishing you the best going forward….Roberta
I see a naturopath for HRT. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. I had bone loss in two years of menopause. I have a family history of osteoporosis, so I got on HRT. It was then that I realized how bad my sleep, skin, mood, etc had gradually become. Im also hoping to avoid dementia.I didn’t want to fight the traditional medical system, but now I’m wondering if I should start advocating more for improving menopause treatment. My family doctor is a woman, who will face these same choices. It hasn’t escaped her notice how well i’m doing…
Wow! Just Wow! I just turned 60 and had a fracture 2 yrs ago. I have full blown osteoperosis and they put me on a once a week pill - but like you said, you are crippled. I walk bent over like an 80 yr old woman after a day at work. I am def going to see if there is any hope left for me... how sad is this
I was just chatting with a few of my girl friends a few days ago about how we don’t really talk about menopause and how ALL of us are sort of in that cycle now, or close to it. I am definitely uneducated and this video validated my ignorance. But…lots of time to learn! I will definitely be watching more to learn more and pass along this video to start a new conversation with my friends. Thank you SO MUCH for this discussion.
Wow, what a great interview. I really learned so much. I have been suffering through Menopause for 10 years and now feel confident to talk to my doctor about it and tell him I want to try HRT. Thank you so much! ❤
Thank you both for your content!!! I’m 55 and was struggling to balance my HRT to stop bleeding. My doctor wanted me to go off HRT after 2 years of breakthrough bleeding and a couple of biopsies. I was considering a hysterectomy!!! Today I have an appointment for an IUD and I thank you for presenting that as an option.
@@AngieHotandFlashy oddly, I had to have my IUD (copper, not hormonal) removed because of breakthrough bleeding and recurring vaginal infections. I’m 59 and just now learning about the importance of estrogen in reducing the risk of Alzheimer’s, which my mother suffers. I wish I’d had this information 8 years ago when my period stopped at age 51 and a half. Now I’m unemployed and without health insurance, stuck with the conundrum of whether to start HRT at my advanced age to lessen my risk of Alzheimer’s. Too late for osteoporosis- broke my wrist a month ago and have every. Single. Risk. Factor, so I’m operating on the presumption I have it….fun times. Thanks for this helpful video!
Excellent video! I agree with her statement that the "system" is criminal the way it's set up. I took Dr. Taylor's advice to get a bone scan and it showed I had osteopenia. This was about three years post-menopause. My doctor said "it's nothing, you're fine for your age." I wanted her to increase my estrogen patch dose and she wouldn't do it. I should have found another doctor, but none of them, as you say, know chit about menopause. Fast forward 10 years, I fell a few days ago onto concrete walking the dogs, skinned my knee up badly, wrists broke my fall, thankfully nothing broken. Thank you for spreading the word ladies, you are literally saving women's lives.
I'm 43 just starting to have hot flashes. Thanks for doing this video. I was watching Menopause Barbie videos now this video really helps me understand her videos better. I will have to find a doc that will work with me.
Watched that video right on time..I'm 52y old still have my period every now and again, hot flashes and looking for a new doc. I'm thinking that this amazing doc can help me to find the right one in my area by giving me the education I need. Consultation is going to happen. Thank you both ladies. 💓
I found Angie's channel years ago because I was looking for menopause information (hot flashes search). I was so happy to find Dr Taylor because of Angie!
Dr. Taylor's book is excellent as well. It's basically the same information she shares in the videos. She is in an incredible educator on the menopause process. I am 48 years old and before I started watching the vides and reading the book I was clueless about what to expect when dealing with perimenopause and menopause. But now I feel empowered to manage my transition into menopause and beyond. Thanks for having her on your channel Angie. All women need to know about Dr. Taylor.
I have kind of known this but once I hit menopause, I felt so calm. I did not get hot flashes or loss of sleep. I did gain weight and the skin on my face just won't stop breaking out. My fingernails too . . . not as energetic. But, it felt so good not to have PMS anymore. You are right about doctors though - none of them has mentioned HRT for my breakouts (they are really bad). I am cutting out gluten and dairy this week . . .
I am late fifties and just finished breast cancer treatments so I had to stop my HRT. I miss my hormones! My hot flashes are crazy and little to no sleep. Cancer drugs are toxic but gotta take ‘em for 5-10 years. Made symptoms worse. I think I need a consultation … thx to both Angie and Dr Taylor. Update: I just booked my consultation!!! Looking forward to discussing my situation with Dr Taylor.
Omg I just went to my female doctor and asked her about hrt and her response was that it increases my risk for breast cancer and that’s all she said. She didn’t tell me what risks without it or anything else. She, in my mind, confirmed my fears that I’ve had that hormones will give you breast cancer. And without any reason to take it I was done and resigned to not taking hrt. So glad and thankful I saw this video.
So glad that you and Dominique introduced me to Dr Taylor . Made me feel better about my decision to stay on HRT. I do want to schedule a consultation with her soon - just to make sure I’m on the right track. Finding the right Dr can be hard. Found one then he retired- found another one - but is using lab work that seems to be a red flag. Feeling pretty good though for 75 years Keep up the good work
You're right, so many are conditioned to think that hot flashes are the main feature of menopause (and your channel is called Hot and Flashy!) I am 61, in post menopause and have not had one hot flash. The statement that you made that we are not the same person is so true. Very interesting discussion.
Angie! Thank you so much for having menopause Taylor on your show again! I'm only 41 but I have so many questions about menopause and fell so in the dark. I thought taking calcium supplements would prevent osteoporosis! Menopause Taylor says that it doesn't! I'm only on video 8. I can't wait to learn all that she shares which looks like plenty! Thanks again!!
I had a consultation with Dr. Taylor about 2 years ago and she was very helpful. I tried to get a follow up with her just recently and I sent all my information to her, but she still had questions and wouldn't meet with me. I even rescheduled and paid the additional amount, but she wouldn't meet. I thought there would be a follow up questionnaire like the first time, but there wasn't. I was disappointed because I thought she might be able to guide me. I'm going to continue to do some research on my own. Not sure what I missed sending. So make sure to send as much information as you can.
I am so thankful I found Dr. Taylor. I have already had one consultation with her and it was very helpful for me; especially, in knowing what to ask for - the difference between an estrogen gel and an estrogen cream. Did you fill out only the very last box of the questionnaire? If I recall correctly, it says not to fill out the whole 17 pages again, but only the last box with any questions you need answered. And, I believe, you upload documents there as well. Have you tried emailing her team? I had a few questions before booking my consultation and they got right back to me with the information I needed. Hopefully this helps and hope you can get a consult with her -- This journey can be frustrating.
@@lonitone5516 This was the second consultation I was asking for. I uploaded all my medical information and test results and filled out a box with what I was asking about. The team emailed me and said Dr Taylor had questions and to reschedule and answer the questions. I was disappointed because In doing so there was an additional charge for the cancellation. I rescheduled, but didn't see where to put the answers, so I emailed them. I figured there was a glitch or something. I didn't know where I messed up and no one would help me. She wouldn't meet with me saying that there was no glitch and she doesn't accept emailed information. So I didn't get any appointments or answers. Perhaps this was something she couldn't guide me on. But I'd rather hear that than nothing.
If you are in the LA area Dr Prudence Hall is a leader in this area. She has been my her doc for over a decade. I was full blown menopause at 45 and was losing my mind. Her knowledge and support helped me make decisions for my body and my long term health. Great book by Oncologist Avrum Blumming and Carol Favors: Estrogen Matters Th idea that estrogen HRT Causes breast cancer is a little crazy in my opinion. For if higher estrogen caused breast cancer then why didn’t young women have a higher instance of it?
I had three joyous years on HRT, but last year (at age 55), I had a minor stroke. No more HRT for me. I have been tested in every way possible and they cannot find the cause. So tired and achy now, but life goes on. Sounds like I need a consultation.
Hi Cheryl: do sorry about the stroke. We're you taking oral estrogen or transdermal? Oral estrogen has a higher risk of causing a blood clot which, depending on its location could cause a stroke.
I have felt so luck to have the most wonderful female doctor for the last 30 years. I had comfort in knowing I have a great doctor to help me through the menopause process...but she just retired. I was devastated when I got the letter and to hear her replacement is a male doctor. I guess there could be good male doctors who are well informed on menopause, but, I don't know. I don't have much faith in it. Finding a new doctor is very very difficult. My mom died of breast cancer at 55 and I worry the same will happen to me.I feel alone and abandoned in a pivotal point in my life. Grateful to have some reliable information here to help me through. Thank you both!
I started watching menopause Taylor when you had her on I found out quickly at 66 I had aged out of starting hrt but I did start estrogen inserted in my uterus to take away the dryness and bring back a happy sex life and I exercise everyday take a few supplements and try to eat healthy all of this I learned watching the videos…fingers crossed it’s enough for a long healthy life
Thank you both. Doctors do not seem to care enough about menopause since they think it’s only another stage in life. Glad to hear someone does care and I appreciate the info.
My last gyno appointment threatening to take me off HRT. I just keep telling her I want to stay on it! Dr Barbie may have also saved my life. I adore her and am grateful for her expertise 💜
Oh my…. I’m 52 now and Ive been sleeping 3 or 4 hours max for the last 7 years and no doctor EVER told me it was a sign of menopause!!! Its only because of hot flashes and joint and muscle aches that I’m watching this video now…. I’ll ask my GP to put me on HRT asap!
Thank you Angie! Because of your past videos I had a consultation with Dr. Taylor & learned so much!! Making this transition in my life so much smoother. Also, as someone who loves skincare, I’m soooo appreciative of your hard work for us🤗🤩 Can’t thank you enough☺️
Wow! This is exactly what I needed to watch. I will watch the Dr videos and set up a consult. I turned 50 hit menopause and no one had any information for me all I knew was I DONT feel good ALL around. Thank you so much. Love your page
Two smart land beautiful adies, thank you for sharing. I can only say that HRT is not breast cancer, is misinterpreted information. I'd rather take hormones in a safe way and then feel healthier and happier than die miserable if that makes sense 🌺💗
Angie thank you so much for introducing us to Dr. Barbie and thank you for continuing to talk about this very important topic. Interviewing doctors is expensive & time consuming not to mention at times MADDENING, however we must not give up. Menopause Revolution indeed! I'm enjoying many of the comments too, helps me feel not so alone. 🤗 p.s. love your puppies in the background.
Omg Thank you so much for this video! I lost my mother at the young age of 50 due to ovarian cancer so I opted to have a full hysterectomy when I started having problems. I was terrified of HRT because of all the stories you hear and all the risks. This video made me realize I need to go back to my doctor and discuss my needs and get on the appropriate HRT that works best for me. Thank you so much again!
My sister had that as well:( I too was very scared -have not had hysterectomy but have had lots of genetic testing and am currently starting BhRt and feel great! Best of luck to you
I had a consultation with Dr. Taylor 3 years ago- it helped so much! I have been on HRT for three years and it made all the difference with my quality of life. Unfortunately I am having other issues that may be related to the HRT, once I get blood work done I am scheduling a follow up with Dr. Taylor. Totally trust her.
Wow !!! I’m feeling this exact way. I need to see my Dr
Right on! It is SO ludicrous that men can have pills to get an erection. Which is in not a greater medical need than women getting the medication to live a better quality of life... So disgusting.
Ramona, your comment is so encouraging. I’m struggling with peri menopause now. May I ask what HRT are you on?
I started watching Menopause Barbie 1-2 years ago and I’m not menopausal. I want to be educated before this happens to me. Thank you Angie & Dr Taylor!! ❤️
You both saved my life... literally. I was in such a bad place that I was suicidal. Iv been on hrt for a little under a year now. I'm so thankful I found you both and took charge of my own health. I was told no, no, no by at least 3 doctors until I found my wonderful angel of a (man) physician who told me I had every right to go on hrt... So, thank you 😊 🙏
I'm so happy you got the help you needed and didn't take no for an answer! I feel like Dr. Taylor saved my life and I'm happy to pay it forward!! 💜
I am currently looking for a doctor. If you’re in the Chicago area, can you please share your doctors name thank you! 😊

I just scheduled an appt to get back on HRT. Hot flashes won't kill you, but heart attacks can. Thank you both.
Wow, very interesting & good to know, thank you for sharing this!
What was the name of the cream you used?
@@lf7065 It was an estrogen cream formulated by the pharmacy I use.
If it did this to your dog, I am leary of what it does to humans.
Suzanne was my initial inspirations also!!
Wow mind blowing! I am not quite 40 but I hear so many negative things about going through menopause! I am angry just listening to this and you are so right! I am all about educating myself and advocating for myself! We deserve better! Thank you for bringing this to light!
If you get this education now, it will serve you well for the rest of your life!
I love this collaboration. Keep it up ladies! Thanks to you both. You “reached” me and I am well on my journey to feeling great again.
Thank you x
You are so very welcome, my dear. I love giving you the menopause education you deserve.
“ the system is criminal and we need to know “ .... earth shattering . Thank you Angie ❤️
We found that out for the past two years. Tragic.
I have the same issues and Vagifem twice weekly has helped so much.
If you were that desperate, why not buy your hormones from Ona's Naturals?! She even sells DHEA cream. Don't be such a victim. My goodness.
She is dead now from Cancer.
Thank you so much for appreciating my effort to give women the menopause education they all deserve.
Taylor.

I love Dr. Taylor! I hope so many people find her from this Video! She’s fantastic 😀😀😀
Agree 💯!!
He sounds thorough and informed. Not the norm for a male doctor. He is a keeper !
@@ramonac6426 We have had him for our family doctor for 25 years. Unfortunately he is retiring June 30th. Very sad about that 😔

I’m on HRT and thought I was doing the right thing until Dr Taylor said don’t treat the lab results. I have my blood drawn every 3 months - need to discuss this with my dr. And she’s never told me I need a bone density scan. Thanks Angie for having Dr Taylor again!
If you decide to have a consultation with me, I'll make sure you avoid pitfalls like this.

I i’ve been on HRT for 25 years I had a total hysterectomy at 40 and I’m still on it I’ve never had any issues it keeps your skin your keeps you feeling much more youthful good for your bones ect and I agree I think it’s definitely a benefit I really enjoy all your shows
Which HRT are you taking?
You two could not be more different, yet both so committed to helping us gracefully and healthfully age. Thank you!

What brand of patch do you take?
@@pastthefog6514I take Vivelle Dot for a decade now.
@@krystademilio1256 ouch. Sounds painful I’m so sorry. Any chance have you been diagnosed with endometriosis?
Love her so much! It's because of her that I got on HRT once I started menopause.
Did you start when you hit menopause or when you were peri ?
Great video Angie! I’m 33 but my mom is 55 and I’ve shown her this video so that she can educate herself! Such valuable information.
Thank you so much for this fabulous interview. I am in the U.K. and work with peri and menopausal women every single day. The lack of education and factual information and access to help is so shocking it breaks my heart. When one woman is suffering we are all suffering.
I’m 48 and having some symptoms. Will my doctor give me HRT if I ask for it? I’m in the uk . Xx
My dream is for all women to get this education in their 20s! That would change the world.

I am so glad to finally see that there are others that feel that the medical community has failed us as women!! 💖
It’s failed more than just women but yes, we have been lost in the mix. It’s even gone so far that we are often treated like we are over reacting to pain or whiny. There needs to be so much more done for women and their health!
Agreed! I’m happy with the new information that we now have available to us that we can be our own best advocates.

THANK YOU!! It’s sad that this isn’t mentioned often.
Exercise is natural and it, s the key!
Hi Kimberly
My insurance doesn’t cover my hrt either .

I'd be curios to know the age range and average age of the stroke victims.

Every woman is different. What's good for one may not be good for another. I've been postmenopausal for 20 years. I never had hot flashes or night sweats. I've never been on HRT. I have high risk factors for several different cancers (breast, ovarian and colon to name three) so I made the best decision for me.
I am cutting out gluten and dairy this week . . .
Oh and I have been watching Dr Taylor for about a month. I’ve watched several of her videos already. great education
So sorry to hear u went thru breast cancer treatments. Hope u find healthy non-toxic treatments. 🙏
@@rhondak4940 thank you Rhonda! You are sweet to say. 🤗
@@rhondak4940 thank you. You are so kind Rhonda. I’m hoping my consult will yield some options ❤️
Feeling pretty good though for 75 years Keep up the good work
Thank you so much for appreciating my efforts.
I think everyones goals is to feel healthy again with the right balance and to deal with someone who knows what there doing.
Great book by Oncologist Avrum Blumming and Carol
Favors: Estrogen Matters
Th idea that estrogen HRT
Causes breast cancer is a little crazy in my opinion.
Get a new gyno ASAP! It’s your decision and your body. Find a doctor who is a menopause specialist and they will probably have more knowledge.
Threaten you? That’s extreme. Find another Doc
I started watching her videos a while back from number 1 , go in order !!
I wish I saw this sooner. I had a hysterectomy 9 months ago...they gave me Paxil. I have hope today
Wow! This is exactly what I needed to watch. I will watch the Dr videos and set up a consult. I turned 50 hit menopause and no one had any information for me all I knew was I DONT feel good ALL around. Thank you so much. Love your page
I hope you enjoy being educated by Dr. Taylor! She's amazing!!
I just ordered Dr. Taylors book. I cannot wait to read it. THANK YOU.
