I presume the producers said to the army of writers "make me a movie like that Tom Cruise sci-fi picture". But no one was sure if they meant War of the Worlds or Edge of Tomorrow.

"War of the Edge of the Top Gun of Tomorrow.... The problems of tomorrow; TODAY!"

This was a fun movie for me, even if it did steal ideas from all over the place.

Even the World Cup final portrayal wasn’t convincing.

The Edge of Tomorrow is almost The Day Today.

This movie is the equivalent of the alien humanoids from Battlefield Earth stuffing rats into our mouths and thinking we love rat. So they look at each other and say “Oh, they’re loving rat! We shall give them more rat! DO YOU WANT LUNCH?”

The remake of War of The Worlds had the premise that the tripods had been on the Earth prior to the pilots being zapped into them.

I thought it was basic but enjoyable enough. 5/10

I wonder if this is one of the other early signs of Chris Pratt having the same movie career downfall Brendan Fraser had.
Member that other sci-fi movie he did with Jennifer Lawrence? Yeah, neither do I.

Incredibly stupid, derivative and hugely enjoyable

It's popcorn... expensive popcorn with no beer / beer / whatever to join it. It's alright.
Miss you guys, still loving the content.

I partly recall the RPG Rifts , that had a rule described time as a current with coiled loops. So could only go back slowly or punch through to specific points? 🤔 If they briefly explained that time travel was highly limited thing with structural limitations it may have been better. Something to grip to plot wise and not so open to limitless plot solving.

This movie so desperately needed a military adviser. I’ve fired a few weapons in my time and watch Garand thumb enough to think why on earth did they have some weapon choices of the soldiers. Chris Plat especially had a very odd gun to showcase battling aliens. I don’t mind a stupid plot if they can get the military stuff right, which they didn’t.

I liked it, yes it was stupid, with tons of plot holes and conveniences, and was slightly woke and about 20 mins too long. But it was fun, and too many films forget to be that these days.
