Definitely need three!
Agreed! I am enjoying using it so far!

Dude just got it. Went right to UA-cam and here you are. Great vid
Great video! Thanks for all the details man!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Great video Josh - thanks for the honest review
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thanks!
Thanks. Helpful.
Thanks Josh. Wondering about fan noise though. 💛🙏🏼
what an awesome guy.. and what a character, "but ill get to that in a minute" ;)
Great review, about to pick one up. What v mount battery do you use with yours, or do just use the NPF batteries?
Hi Josh, thank you for your video!
Thanks to it I'm deciding to get a three light kit from Aputure.
It would be a 200d, and 2x 100d.
I'm also trying to decide if going for the X bicolour version or daylight.
I could always put a gel on the daylight when needed while having a higher light output when using without gels.
So far I'm shooting personal video projects (I'm not a professional anymore since 2 years) but being a big investment I'd like to be future proof, you never know in 1/2 years what's going to happen (that's why I was considering the X as well).
So many options nowadays!
I think having one bi color light in your kit is a good idea. Handy for backlighting or other things when you want to play with the color temperature.
Hey Josh, have you tried the 60d with the light dome mini II as a key light? I want to buy that combo, but im not 100% sure about the softness of the light. Great review! Defenitly you have a new subscriber here!
I am currently using that combo as my backlight/rim light. The 60d is enough to power the mini for most basic setups. You can definitely use the mini for a key light if you bring it super close, but the bigger the softbox the better. If space is a concern than the mini makes sense, but I would recommend the Light Dome SE over it for about the same price.
what is the name of the remote control you use? It would be nice to control my 60D-s with a remote rather than my phone. thanks
Thanks for this review. Weirdly, my model has a weird smell when turned on, which smells like burnt things. Is this "normal" and would you have any idea where this comes from? Thanks and best!
The 60D is not such a bargain if you're expecting to use it with any handy pair of NP-F batteries. It's hopeless with 700 series NP-F batteries and even two 750s really jacks up the weight of the whole working package. The 60D senses the draw is not being met and will turn off the light output but keep the fan running. e.g. with NP-F750s I got 20 minutes runtime at a meagre 50% output. You have to power cycle to restore light and it won't last for long again.
Recommended by experienced users is the 60D needs a pair of NP-F970 batteries because they have the Watt Hours capability to run the 60D. Otherwise users have been getting shut downs even at low % output. For the price of two NP-F970 you've no longer bought a cheap portable light solution and you have awkward weight to handle as a move and shoot portable. Choose it accordingly.
what NPF or V mount batteries would you recommend to purchase for the 60d...thank you
I got the 60x and used it for the first time for a wedding and it was so good
Nice! Awesome little lights!
The are not reliable when they shut off while powered and with the sony battery option even worst .
@@creativegreats6924 i heard they shut off. did they make a firmware yet?
@@RayValdezPhotography not sure
Is this 60d with mini lightdome mini2 enough to create a video like this u create?
More important question for me: where the hell do I get one? It seems to be sold out everywhere or take like a month to ship
hello do you thinks its worth going for 200x if i can get it for 300 dollars or should i go with amaran 60d?
Thank you very much for great review! Could please make a Brightness test between 120d and 60d?
As I mentioned in the video, I'm not the guy for the technical lighting testing. Here is a great video to check out for that: ua-cam.com/video/a3HTCJao_Y8/v-deo.html
@@Josh_Sattin Thank you, I’ll watch Kaleb’s video!
But from subjective point of view do you think 60d is enough for basic UA-cam studio setup like you have?
@@akmalsalikhov3732 yes its plenty for something like that.
Yes, it's absolutely good enough for a basic key light. You can see it being used during the last part of this video.
Hey Josh, have you had any trouble with the Light Dome SE? I've heard others say they're not so reliable and hard to move around.
Do you think the new 60D can handle the weight of the Light Dome II?
I have not had any trouble with the SE, but it does not have nearly the same build quality as the Light Dome II or Light Dome Mini II. I basically set it up and leave it set up. I would definitely recommend the Light Dome II over the SE if you have to break it down and set it up regularly. I think the 60D can handle the Light Dome II, but I would be careful with it because the 60D has a plastic mount. I'm not sure how durable that combo would be long term. I think the 60D and SE is a better combo overall because the SE is much lighter. That combo is also great pricewise. Perfect for leaving set up in a home studio. If you have to travel with it, I would recommend the 120D II and Light Dome II.
@@Josh_Sattin makes sense, thanks for the input! I don't have a dedicated studio to leave a light set up (it's a shared small office) so even though it's not travel, I might need to consider something else for setup/teardown
If you were using this as your key light, what light would you use as your rim light/back light?
Thanks 💛. Is 60d with a softbox is a convenient choice for a working computer space? I teach students online. Or it is too bright and a daylight temperature is not ideal for long daily usage. I am looking for a good key light for lightning my computer place.
It would be a great choice for that and it is dimmable. You would just need to find the right sized softbox for your setup.
@@Josh_Sattin Thanks a lot 🙂
Glow EZ Lock, bro. Affordable and easy to use.
What stand do you recommend for the 60d
I have this one which works pretty well: amzn.to/3H1ExzD
You also can't beat a C stand, but they are definitely more expensive and heavier.
Is that a 2.1mm or 2.5mm DC barrel?
2.1mm

You said lens when you meant to say light. I think you might have anteater. No, wait. I meant to say aphasia.
