    A couple tips from my experience with making green smoothies are: 1) Just add the leaves from the kale and remove the stems if you don't like the bitterness the harder kale stems impart on the flavor (include the stems if you don't mind). 2) Use frozen bananas, grapes, or other frozen fruits and skip the ice cubes. The frozen fruit will cool the smoothie with out making your smoothie watery. 3) Use a variety of leafy green veggies like swiss chard, spinach, and beet greens to add variety and get a more complete nutritional profile from your greens. 4) To make your smoothie creamy, add other fruits besides banana like mangos, avocados, strawberries, etc... for variety and nutrition. If you just use this recipe, it'll get old fast and variety is the spice of life when it comes to flavor.

    Just made my first one of these..Used two dashes of cayenne. I suggest one dash for most, but I am a bit bold when it comes to heat. It tastes fine, and I plan on having one every morning starting today. Good healthy stuff., no doubt.

    TIP: Freeze banana and grapes. Skip the ice cubes as it tends to make the smoothie watery.

      ***** I try to make these kale shakes daily for my husband and I. I'm actually afraid to go too long without kale because it prevents the stomach aches I get that make me wish I were dead. I'm not kidding ! And these smoothies are delicious. :-)

    Cayenne pepper comes from a nightshade plant. Nightshades have been shown to increase pain in people with autoimmune disorders such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus as well as Fibromyalgia. Even in small quantities this category of foods can cause higher levels of pain. As a person with Lupus, I eliminated nightshaded 3 years ago and it has made the difference between being confined to bed with pain and able have a more normal life.

    Great video but i like to "strip" the Kale greens from the stalk because the stalk can be a bit too fibrous .

    Dr, I love kale and this shake sounds great, do you know about a shake for inflammatory problems ( my intestines are very swollen) that doesn't cause gas, and helps me with energy, protein, and doesn't gets me constipated, if you know please share!!!!! Thank you

    My daily shake with my Vitamix is: One whole Lemon, Kale, Spinach, Red Grapes,( I used Globe Grapes, which contain Grape Seed). and Pineapple. Give it a try.

    Buy all ready cut-up kail and freeze it. I hike 5 miles in 1.5 hours 4 times a week will that kail shake keep me energized throughout my hike?

    I’ve been making cole slaw using very little cabbage and plenty of carrots, broccoli, kale and apple cider vinegar it helps me get loads of broccoli and kale in an easy snack. I put it in empty kimchi containers and take it to work in my lunch

    Josh, I love your videos and they have been very helpful in improving my health. I noticed at the end of the video you suggested getting rid of the oatmeal. I eat oatmeal every day and I love it. It keeps things moving through the digestive tract and bowel. Should I really stop eating it?

    Replace the water with unsweetened almond milk, the grapes by parsley, and the banana by spinach or beet greens, and add 1/2 tsp. of amla powder and a few berries and you have a much more nutritious power drink.

    Dr. Josh in this video you say that vitamin K is the glue that binds calcium to your bones. Please correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding is that it's vitamin K2 from foods such as Natto which help bind calcium to your bones and not vitamin K1 which is found in leafy greens such as kale.

    You need 16 Bananas to get te right amount of potassium. And it's very sweet, with 1/4 the nutrients it should have (US depleted soils).
    One should eat 10 cups of salad a day and drink these green detox juices without any frutose added

      i eat over 5000 mg of potassium a day and i do not eat much veggies at all infact most of my potassium comes from is my daily big bowl of watermelon!
