Yeah they always pick the muscle/sports/performance car out of the bunch, and probably Chargers more so than any other car. If ten cars all drive the exact same speed, 15 mph over the limit, and _one_ of them is a muscle, sports or a performance car - that's the one the cop will zero in on and ticket. Unless, you know, the above happens.
The trick is to exit the highway or take a turn at the next intersection when you're sure the persuing car can no longer see you. Never prolong a pursuit on the same road, and never let him get close enough to read your tag. As soon as possible, get home and park the vehicle. The technique works today (as seen in the video), like it did years ago.
I did this years ago doing about 120 mph on the Pennsylvania Turnpike around king of Prussia.I flew past a state cop using radar. I saw his rear bumper black and yellow reflective tape.( I had a Valentine radar detector). And he did clock me as my detector went off. I never tapped the brake otherwise he would have known I saw him. Put the pedal to the floor and went up over a little hill and around a corner, then backed up into the grass... fucker flew by me about 30 seconds later. Lol great feeling.
I used to hate it when I had to terminate a pursuit due to policy language. But, it probably kept me safe which is the main thing. On the other hand, I loooooovvvvvved finding the car later that night, within a few days or weeks or months and towing it. I would put an Investigative Hold on it which meant the owner couldn’t get it out until after speaking to an investigator. When they would deny driving the car they would be asked if they allowed someone else to drive it and they would either say no, they were in possession of the car the entire time at which time they would be charged with Felony Fleeing. If they said yes they let someone borrow it they would have to either give up the name or be charged with Allow Illegal Operation. Either way, the car was usually in Impound for weeks and sometimes the darndest thing would happen like other impounded vehicle owners damaging the car while in Impound.
Best thing to do is pull over and pass out next to your insulin medication…when you “wake up” as the ambulance arrives at the hospital just say you injected a little too much insulin.
Hate to break it to you, but that's not a Hellcat. It's an '11-'14 Charger from the tail light. That year SRT8 will still do 170+ mph stock. Edit: There's a serious amount of coping and armchair warriors in the comments who can't spend 10 seconds to search a stock SRT8 top speed run video and would rather play mental gymnastics in the comments. But you will never convince a dumb person that they are dumb, its one of the oldest problems in society.
Yep, they believe it’s worth it to put every citizen in danger to catch someone committing a victimless crime( YES, if you get away this quick you are a good enough driver that it is not endangering those around you)
He also didn’t hit the lights and sirens until 120mph! That is in most cases most definitely a big no no!!! Without lights and sirens, they’re supposed to obey all the laws that the ordinary is supposed to obey.
I love how "Officer Toast" continues the hopeless pursuit at 80 - 120 mph with the phantom no where in sight. The officer justified endangering the lives of civilians by testifying... "the phantom committed a robbery. He stole my pride!" 😭
Yup. That's such horseshit, lol. Yeah, obviously radio waves travel faster than a car, duh, but that doesn't mean there are available cop cars just sitting and waiting down the road to catch the speeder. The logistics of directing other cops to the chase are extremely difficult, unless they have a helicopter.
This cop needs to be arrested for speeding like that and endangering lives for no reason. This will continue to happen until we make them accountable for their actions
I'm just wondering what his exact reason was for pulling out behind that car trying to pull them over in the first place. I'm glad you got away because they were doing the same speed as the traffic around them.
@@paulden3158 That sure slowed this guy down, let me tell you what (scarasm) Something tells me he didn't even know he past a cop when he was going 100+ mph and even at no less.
@@Yourmommyisbusy actually when he passed the cop he was going the same speed as the traffic around. However, because he's in a muscle car/high performance vehicle he got singled out which is stupid. If you're gonna single out a car on the highway, don't single out the one that can actually outrun your ass without even trying.
I live there. He didn't take straight as the freeway ends if you go straight. He would have gor caught as there is heavy traffic ahead straight. He went left and at a very high speed to lose the cop as the freeway has a long rightward curve and he subsequently took an exit that the cop couldn't see.
It always happens like that. They always target the muscle, sports or performance cars, even if everyone else is going the same speed. Wanna maximize the odds of getting away with speeding? Drive something bland. New-ish, clean and proper, but bland.
@@mannydcbianco because let’s say you have two vehicles who are going 50 mph in a 35, one is a Corvette and one is a Bronco. The driver of the corvette is most likely to be showing off and completely disregarding the rules of the road. The driver of the Bronco is probably not paying attention to his speedometer.
I really don't see the justification for the police endangering more and more people by running 140 plus mph instead of using the tools at their disposal that would lessen the endangering of the citizens, by using the radio, and the other units in the area to intercept those who are trying to flee. They also have stop strips, and other means they can apply to cite these people who are violating the speed limit, but who are normally within 25 mph of the posted limits. I believe that the cops love the thrill of speeding without any punishment for them whatsoever. This officer didn't even activate the siren until reaching a very high rate of speed. The point is that the police increase the dangers by chasing these cars, and the majority of people trying to elude them are only regular citizens, not murders and violent felons, and most I f them will sl I w d I wn once enough distance g as been achieved to get away. I'm not saying that breaking the speed limit is ok, I'm simply stating that there are other things that can be done in order not to endanger the public more than one person already speeding at rates that are potentially dangerous.
Idiots who drive like that are complete morons. Weaving in and out of traffic, speeding, and being complete morons. They put my life and my families life in danger every day. They belong in jail
I remember several years ago, down where I am, a cop basically killed himself behind chasing down a dirt bike at high speed. Idiot wrapped his cruiser around a tree and I think ended up killing the dude on the bike as well behind trying to pit
@Kim, I just want to reply that you're being awfuly judgemental about the cop. They are trained (especially highway officers) to safely operate their vehicles well over 100MPH and all conditions (training they have to renew annually), and to make a judgement call about when to terminate a pursuit when the risks outweight the rewards. In most states (AR included), speeding that much is a felony - and driving in that manner is akin to waving a loaded firearm around at the public in a crowded space. So yes, speeding over 110MPH is treated as if it's a violent felony, becasue doing so can result in killing other members of the public - and the police are tasked by their job with aprehending as you say "regular citizens" who make choices that hazard everyone else. That's the way we've as a society written the laws. You are whining that he didn't turn on his lights/siren "...until reaching a very high rate of speed..." This just shows that you fundamentally don't comprehend the phsyics of intercepting moving traffic, police proceedures, and/or have never served on a jury. Reasonably and objectively as a "regular citizen": We don't even get audio until 24 seconds into the video (and we only see the suspect car once it enters a narrow cone of visibility in front of the police car), time at which the officer was probably safely joining traffic, and radio-ing in his position, the officer's intent, and the basic suspect car information. At that time, he's trying to close the distance so that he can get the license plate if it's even there - which requires him to go faster than the car he's attempting to inspect, and potentially cite for speed. About ten seconds after we get audio while the cop is doing 90 to catch up to the Charger, another vehicle changes lanes masking the Charger from the cop's view as it eners a bend, and we can see in the video the Charger accelerating away. This attempt at evasion is an act that establishes the intent of the now fleeing driver (not just speeding anymore). The cop realized he's accelerating more than he needed to in order to just catch a constant speed suspect vehicle and by 46 seconds into the video (only 7 seconds after the suspect car was again visible). At this time he's turning on his lights, and getting a time slot in the radio to inform dispatch that a chase is starting. It's easy to lose track of time when you're excited, agitated, angry, adrenaline is pumping, etc. This cop chased with lights as siren for only about 1 minute 40 seconds after establishing that the driver intended to flee before terminating the pursuit. It was dry, and the road was essentially devoid of other cars. That is not an unreasonable risk to the public, and it displays restraint and good training from the officer. However, in order to do almost all of what you propose under this time scale - there need to be cops everywhere and/or cameras everywhere (with cops to view them). Not every jusidiction or agency has a $6Million helicopter, or one in the air, or one in the air even close to right over the start of a chase. By the time the officer in this video lost sight of the suspect vehicle's tail lights @1:26, only about 40 seconds had elapsed from the time his blue lights went on. At just 60 miles per hour you are moving 0.0166667 miles per second. In the approximately 40 seconds the suspect was visible and the pursuing officer could relay the known location of the suspect, any responding officer would have only been able to travel 2/3 of a mile at 60MPH. Yet, you proposed that they set up spike strips... which requires knowing where the suspect car is going, have enough time to get to where it will be, stop the car, get out the spikes, safely set them up without putting one's self or the rest of the public in danger, observe the approching suspect car - radio the pursuing office to back off so their tires don't get flattened - and then pull the spikes in front of the fleeing vehilce... This would mean for 180MPH (0.05miles per second, or about 2 miles travelled in the video's visible chase duration) - we'd need a cop ready to do spike strips about every mile, on every road. There are about 4 million miles of road in the USA - so we'd need at least 4 million cops on every shift (about three per day, roughly 4 per week for time off), of every day to do what you're asking for. That's about 16 million cops (about 5% of the population of the USA) just sitting there with their thumbs up their butts wating for a car chase to go by. That's one cop for every 20 citizens. When you actually take the time to think about the logistics of what you are proposing - it's magical utopian thinking, not based in reality. Putting a few trained cops behind the wheel of a sub-$50K squad car and sending them after the few people who are doing really bad stuff is already "the cheap+easy way" for doing enforcement. The alternatives are far more dystopian and expensive - and it's insanely delusional to think otherwise. For example we could just ban cars and stop building roads and there would neer be a high speed chase ever again - not a future I agree with, and it's exactly like what they are trying to do with guns right now. If you don't think your ideas lead to tyrannical dystopia, the Feds are already getting remote kill switches put in all cars unter the auspices of "anti-car-jacking," because of idiots like this - and the EPA is being used to take away performance cars from everyone except the governement. Bad ideas and utopian worldviews like yours have negative outcomes and impacts for all of us, even those of us law abiding good citizens who have the character to behave.
Growing up a buddy ran away from the police on 3 different occasions in 3 different cars. A 1989 Camaro V6, a 1987 BMW 735i, and a 1992 Nissan Sentra. All times in the city, not highway, and each time using driving skills but mostly creative intelligence. This was before cell phones. On one of the occasions in the Camaro he lost the police and myself with less than one block of lead. I went past him never saw him as did the police. Miss those days and that crazy fucker
Strange the officer didn't turn his lights on until he was already at 2x the speed limit. Thought that officers take an oath to abide by all traffic laws. Not allowed to speed without lights and siren on 🤔
lol you’re crazy if you think they do that. lines of cops will roll past me going 90-95 on 4 lane freeways posted at 65 without lights on. they use their authority as an excuse to speed whenever they want
@@tucker1623 just stating what the code/statute is, by no means did I imply that they DO follow them. I've had state patrol fly by me at 100mph. Cameras and data logging would match timestamps, so if I was ever stopped, I'd have evidence.

@@coolcat6303 That’s why I personally believe they shouldn’t be chasing unless there was a predicate felony. Far too much risk to innocents just for a traffic violation. The police chasing them significantly increases the risks and cops chasing have killed hundreds if not thousands of innocents.

This happened in Chicago earlier this year. The fleeing car was busted when they looked at license plate readers from further back on the highway before the chase. Many of the turnpikes now are constantly reading plates. They arrested the guy at his house, car was under a tarp in the street.
Yeah, they put up weird looking towers with cameras hanging off of them all around Indy too, including the major highways leading into Indy. No one knows what they are for and officials won't say.
Georgia has added actual speed cameras that will mail you a ticket in some school zones at this point, plus the license plate reader cameras that scan every plate and will send out an alert if there is a warrant in the system for the owner. Most intersections have monitoring cameras too, even in the suburbs. Cops barely have to pursue you anymore, just head back to station and pull the cameras for whatever intersection you blew through. Can't prove you were the driver? Not going to stop them from impounding your car as evidence. Edit: Plus I assume unless you don't have a cellphone it's fairly trivial to prove you were at least in the vehicle at the time, in which case you would know who the driver was or you look pretty guilty.
A good lawyer can get you out of that pretty easily. A speeding ticket has to be written to a specific driver. Not an owner. The cop has to prove who drove the car.
@@richarcm The cameras are often positioned to get the driver too. So if you don't have an identical twin or a doppleganger you can bring to court where you tell the judge "sometimes we mix up our cellphones" - a good DA and PD is going to look at the picture of the driver and ask the cops to pull cell phone logs (they have probable cause for a warrant for this with your plate and picture) to see which towers your phone pinged off of at the time of the picture. Then you're probably going to jail, paying a fine, and getting your car crushed. Probably still not worth it to pretend you're invincible behind the wheel for a few minutes...

It's reasons like this why I started modding my cars' lights to kill at night roughly 15 years ago. The local PD just had it out for me for no particular reason. In fact, I'd be pulled over for coasting _under_ the posted limit and watch in my mirror as a squad car passes, does a U-turn and follows me for a while and (most of the time) would light me up. The time which triggered my decision was when I was headed home after casual shopping at a Walmart, cruising back home, not in a rush, at 9-ish at night. Woo-woop! "What's in the bag?" ... Raisin bagels and paint brushes. He gave me some bullshit about drug runners on that _very busy highway_ road. Ah, no, you pulled me because my car's bright red, you asshole in a hat. After that I've done the tweaking necessary to kill any DRLs and rear lights at night when I suspected being tagged by some bored LEO aimlessly wandering around the same stretch of road as me. Fortunately it worked in the few times I've done it since then. No, it's not anything to recommend, in fact certainly it's illegal. I'd see the U-turn, take a sharp turn to the back roads and kill all lights and take off as fast as my 1999 4-banger could go. The roads were always dead so it's not like anyone/thing was in danger. If you were singled out as often as I was for doing **nothing** you'd do the same thing. It sucks worse for black people. They get pulled over just because some bully with a badge feels like it. Hell, they would 'pull over' my half-black cousin for jogging early in the morning. You sometimes see people doing that, right? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to distinguish between a brisk jog to stay in shape from a guy at full sprint, wearing a ski mask, and clutching a woman's purse. Piss off, go get a doughnut. The 7/11 clerk needs some interaction.
In the dark ages, I had a '53 Ford with flipped springs in the rear. Was pulled several times because they thought I was a bootlegger, they checked the trunk for an extra tank...Florida, Georgia and Mississippi. Good clean fun.
Fentanyl runners are a BIGGGG problem, especially at night, I know it sucks being singled out, but when you're driving a car that is used by these people you just have to realize that every LEO is looking for even the most minor probable cause to pull you just to have a look inside.
@@oveidasinclair982 I can understand that sentiment but this was 18 years ago before most people heard of fentanyl.
Reasonably and objectively as a "regular citizen":
We don't even get audio until 24 seconds into the video (and we only see the suspect car once it enters a narrow cone of visibility in front of the police car), time at which the officer was probably safely joining traffic, and radio-ing in his position, the officer's intent, and the basic suspect car information.

Strange the officer didn't turn his lights on until he was already at 2x the speed limit. Thought that officers take an oath to abide by all traffic laws. Not allowed to speed without lights and siren on 🤔

So what law was being enforced that was within their juresdiction? Were they enforcing Motor Vehicle Code?
Let's see what congress defines for Motor Vehicle.
18 USC 31 (a)(6)
Motor vehicle.-
The term “motor vehicle” means every description of carriage or other contrivance propelled or drawn by mechanical power and used for commercial purposes on the highways in the transportation of passengers, passengers and property, or property or cargo.
Used for commercial purposes...
So we look at the word Vehicle
Definitions from Black's Law Dictionary: 2nd Edition and Ballentine's Law Dictionary as are available for each term in each dictionary. Definition: The word "vehicle" includes every description of carriage or other artificial contrivance used or capable of being used, as a means of transportation on land.
No mention of a commercial activity, so wouldn't it be a violation of Motor Vehicle Code to put a commercial plate or even register a non-commercial vehicle as one involved in commerce?
They had no juresdiction for the beginning, no law broken, no commerce going on, no authority.

They wanna call it a hellcat to justify the loss... haha
Or it could just be a hellcat swap
OFFICER I FEEL YOUR PAIN...🙄🙄....I HAVE AN RT 5.7 AND FOR ME CHASING A HELLCAT IS LIKE CHASING A GHOST...
Hell you better off chasing an camaro ss, they will still pull away but it won't be as bad and he'll be withing reach.
He wasn't chasing a hellcat, the taillights are wrong and the cop is clueless about cars and thinks every charger that gets away is a hellcat.
@@RidinDirtyRollinBurnouts lol not every charger is a $120,000 car.
People are dumb they see a fast car and call it a hellcat or a demon.
This is literally a $25,000 SRT8 from 2012
You need black out tail lights with a hellcat
that wasn’t even a hellcat lol
No he doesn’t. No one does.
Why so many ASP chases VS. Chargers, Challengers, Vets, Camaros, Mustangs? Almost seems like these cars are "targeted" when it appears they are driving fine.
There’s no site of the charger that police is a allegedly looking for.
Profiling FAIL.🤣🤣🤣
revenuers!
And…..he’s gone this is how you outrun cops people get distance then get off the highway asap clearly this wasn’t his first time doing this😮💨😂😂😂
when the officer exited left on the connector highway, he knew at that point that he had F'ed up.
How long until the staff of Car and Driver organizes an event where they take a bunch of fast cars to Arkansas and attempt to outrun the state troopers? Cannon ball run Arkansas.
You used to not be able to outrun the radio, until they made a 6.2L supercharged motor
Not true
its a regular v8 charger… not a cat
You still can’t outrun a radio. This dude just got lucky.
@@coolcat6303wdym? If you break LOS and exit the highway you easily can…
Why the cop felt the need to purse this car is beyond me
That's Little Rock.... never a dull moment. And the trooper keeps flying and over driving his headlights well after he lost contact. Must be a UALR graduate.
Based on your context I assume all it takes to get a degree from there is a body temperature somewhere roughly in the 90s?
Sounds a lot like the public schools in my area.
"Can you breathe? Good, you're on the honor roll, kid!"
Rumor has it, the cop is still seen chasing the hellcat till this day
Why even risk the pursuit when you never have a chance? The ego on some of these cops is going to get innocent people killed. If a car is clocked going 120+ there is no way in hell you will ever catch them. I passed a fhp many years ago in my vette in his 5.0 mustang. He clocked me going about 150 and just turned his lights on and off and stayed where he was. Arkansas troopers need to be more humble.
a hellcat or anything faster is the only car I would run from the police in, anything else you’re getting caught.
I'd go for the Hellcat Durango... can't beat the fuzz on the street hit da woods!!!
Lmao so a GT mustang couldn’t? GTs are faster than hellcats and demons.
@@markelraya10 I said anything faster doesn’t matter what.
@@markelraya10 a video just posted of a 5.0 trying to run.
That was a scat….
Those hellcats are amazing. You'd think the cop would have something a little more kick ass.
In his defense. Mopar guys don’t typically keep them stock
@@evildrizzt1
Very true, but the police has state funds to get it done. I know in Dubai the police drive Bugatti Veyron super sports for their police cars, otherwise they don't stand a chance. These Hellcat owners can't be making that much money to outperform the police
@@bobsebring3377 dubai has speed traps every where so its sense less to speed over there
@@evildrizzt1 yeah lol. Mines got an aftermarket blower on it.
Why would I buy this car if I cant make it faster lmao.
Negatory, most US cops are in explorers tahoes durangos and some chargers. Chargers are less n less prominent and are far from blown hellcat motors. The Chevy ppv is QUICK but also less n less prominent
what i saw was a cop turn around on a freeway to chase a charger? he had to take off ramp, turn the other way, took way too long. like wtf. unless he can fly, forget it. thats one stupid cop!
Do they make cut off switches for car rear end lights? What about a switch that releases nails so when they take off the cop runs them over?
Plus my car was a red Pontiac Sunfire at the time with a bit of vinyl, not a blacked out Monte Carlo on chrome rims. I must add the cops in that area mentioned above were dumb as hell. Most didn't know what DOT stood for when I explained everything in and on my car was legal. They've been watching _The Fast and Furious_ too much.
I topped out a Hemi at 165 from Louisville to Cincinnati, the Owner was sitting next to me and said, "I don't have any high speed Brakes on this", so, I quickly let off the Gas, I was aiming for 200 but his declaration made me think twice!
I would hope he had brembos
That's was like tony the tiger would say THAT WAS GREEEEATT👍👍👍
Lol yeah just hang it up. However, give the hellcat driver his props for maneuvering at those speeds without crashing. We all know he wouldn’t be caught but we definitely know he is more prone to crashing. Driver is certified
Why do that even pursue these cars, KNOWING that they cannot catch them? These public servants placing the lives of innocent people in jeopardy in the HOPES of catching the drivers of these cars, are INSANITY AND DANGEROUS!! At BEST !!
Arrogance mainly
Honestly, that chase was effectively over around the 40 second mark. There was no way he was gonna catch that guy. Everything else was just wasting gas.
Thanks to the cop, there’s now two speeding vehicles on the highway.
Yeah it’s called a pursuit. And it’s been happening for a 100 years.
@@coolcat6303 and so have innocents dying because of it. 140mph for a speeder???
Man going a whole 40 mph over you and you still chasing him? Cmon dawg make it make sense
Thank you! Why are they allowed to still keep chasing them at that point? Chasing a ghost.
That definitely isn't an Hellcat, the taillights are clearly from the 11-14 model. Eitherway I'm glad he got away, because that trooper was petty af.
Two wrongs don’t make a right. The dude in the Dodge is gonna get someone killed someday.
@@coolcat6303 no that trooper is going to get someone killed for being a petty douchebag. If you're not going to go after the other two who were clearly going faster, then he shouldn't have went after the charger.
New title: "Mafia enforcer attempts late night armed robbery and fails miserably"
I love hearing the defeat in his voice 🤣🏎️💨
I love when folk buy that or that kind of car AND know how to drive it💯 Absolutely NOT advocating for running from the popo (cuz who runs that hard from JUST a speeding violation 🤔, BUT I can't help being a lil tickled when folk show up on some "I can work MY Dodge better than you can work yours, Ms/Mr. Officer!"🤭
That cop knew damn well his car wasn't gonna go that fast 😂
It's a Dodge. You can see the Check Engine Lights on in both the Hellcat and the ASP cruiser!
Dodges come from the factory with salvage titles and CEL's!
@@cigarsgunsanddiesel8032 Salvage Title! Hahahaha! I got to remember that one! :)
Somebody gets it........🤣
Lmaoo the cop doing 130 mph made me laugh. That’s cruising speed for a hellcat. And that’s not even a hellcat. It’s just a charger💀
Does it really pay to catch a speeder by doing a 133 mph? The reaction time is just diminished so much at that speed. You're risking more lives for no reason.
It is a mental disease
Who else roots for the bad guys to get away….😂😂😂😂
What makes the bad guys?

I WISH we had roads that empty up here in the northeast. Even in upstate NY at 2am on a Sunday the interstates are full of people
2ayem the 495 in NYC is stop'n'go. I shiite you not.
Was picking up an umm-friend from KLGA, taking the 495 to the Grand Central. Was like friggin' rush-hour, just a sea of brake-lights.
Hey, want to know a secret? I-684 westchester county NY (just watch out for cops in the shoulder)
It's so stupid and dangerous. He has NO chance of catching that car but he's gonna run 120 down the hwy...because he can and he wants to despite knowing the Hellcat is either way out of reach or more likely bailed off the hwy and has disappeared.
Just out there driving with the siren on. That had to be more for personal satisfaction than thinking he could've caught him.
Just imagine the cops are the mouse and the Dodge charger is the cat. He will always outpower you. This is the last morning don't mess with the haircut now you've been warned
I've seen this video before it's a Scatpack
Just keep on going you’ll catch him eventually😂😂
This cop was so thirsty to catch up up to the runner that he threw all his training out the window and didn't care a bit about public safety that he chased a ghost to infinity. He should've been gave up pursuit. That's the kind of cop who'd kill you. Had he ran into any other hellcat he would've pulled them over and created a problem because of his ego.
Funny thing is, the vast majority of cops don't really get any kind of extra training to drive like this safely
Looks more like the cop on a joyride
Looks like the driver of that Hellcat needs to write an E-mail congratulating DODGE on "what a fine automobile they have produced." For you all you "old timers" you know what I'm talking about. 😉
You know oldheads made the car lol
funny how he never called it in and doing 130+ mph around a curve on the interstate isn't that smart. is he just wanting to cause a wreck and probably kill someone at that speed?
He called it in at about the 1:00 mark. He was going 130 or more twice in very shallow curves. Completely reasonable.
@@ottokiehl5413 Would it be reasonable if there would have had a blowout or hit some oil or sand on the road or a deer running out in front of him at that speed?
At 49 seconds the gave him the go to transmit that's when he called it in #payattention
It depends 130 mph in some cars is considered cruising and more then safe. 130 in that car your pushing the limit.
You got it all wrong..
You probably think Lia Thomas is a woman.. LOL
