I can't remember every exact detail mentioned in Daybreak, but the events from Reverie certainly matter in Daybreak, so I would just go with "yes"

It has a hybrid action/turn-based combat system. The turn-based combat system is pretty simple. Here is some info on the action-based combat system:
- You have a single combo string, a charge attack and a dodge.
- Depending on who you are playing as, their combo strings may differ in terms of range and effectiveness against different enemy types.
- As you hit enemies with said combo strings it deals both normal damage and stun damage.
- The combo string also fills up a meter for your charge attack. Once it is full, your charge attack deals a significant amount of stun damage.
- Doing a "perfect dodge" (dodging just before you are hit) can also instantly fill the charge attack meter to full.
- Once you've dealt enough stun damage, enemies enter a "stunned" state for a short period of time.
- You can enter turn-based mode at any point during a normal encounter (you don't have to stun them).
- Choosing to enter turn-based mode with at least one enemy that is stunned grants you an advantage against all of them.
- You can choose to disengage turn-based mode at any point during a normal encounter.
- Boss/Story fights are strictly turn-based.
The turn-based combat system itself is really good, whereas the action-based gameplay serves as a means of either:
1) Ignoring normal enemy encounters entirely (you can literally run past every optional fight if you want to)
2) Destroying weak enemies quickly for items/sepith (Sepith is one of two forms of currency in Trails)
3) Setting up an advantage for turn-based combat (as I explained above)
If they give us a demo, then I suggest giving it a try. You may end up liking the turn-based combat more than you think, and while it isn't particularly deep, the action-based gameplay compliments the turn-based gameplay well enough to justify its existence. I know that some turn-based combat systems are pretty meh, but Falcom has a way of making them fun in Trails. >_>

@@CrimRui I disagree. Gran Blue Fantasy Relink is Super Fun to play . And YS 9 combat is addictive - the timing mechanic of souls games + flashy combat of anime action RPGs just chef's kiss. If you like standing and just giving orders that's fine .
